We have had so many wonderful experiences at Springfield Golf and Country Club that during COVID we decided to join as Social Members--and we have loved every moment since. Over the years, we've hosted several family events here, from birthday parties and anniversary dinners to sweet sixteen celebrations and retirement parties. Every single event has been absolutely spectacular. Beyond special occasions, we truly enjoy our family dinners when all the kids are home, as well as business breakfasts on Saturday mornings. The club's full calendar of social events makes it such a vibrant and welcoming place, and we couldn't imagine a more family-friendly environment to be part of. As Social Members, we get to enjoy the pool, tennis courts, gym, exercise classes, and so much more. The variety and quality of amenities are outstanding. A big thank you to the SGCC leadership and staff for everything you do to make this place exceptional. We're grateful to be members and look forward to many more great years ahead! read more

My son is taking tennis lessons here from our local, homegrown pro, whoop whoop! The main clubhouse & golf course were closed - i mean, it is a Monday night in January, so go figure. The tennis facility is very nice. They have ample parking outside and ample waiting space inside. There are several chairs with low tables to relax at, as well as high top tables with stools if you want to snack or just prefer being up higher. In the back they have an even bigger area for eating & lounging but it was closed during our visit. The tennis courts are in pristine condition and they have three to play on, all with net dividers to keep the other occupants from being pissed off at your rogue balls, HA! There is a nice little pro shop that strings racquets too, should you need it; it was also closed during our visit. This building also has the club's gym housed in it as well. From what I saw, this club is very nice. Like I said, things were closed so we didn't really get to see it 100% in it's glory. My only dislike was it is cold outside (calling for snow tomorrow cold) and it feels like they still have the AC on. Guess I wouldn't mind as much if I was playing but since I'm only spectating, I found it chilly...brrrrrr. My son finished playing and said how nice and cool it felt upstairs - yep, should've played, lol. read more

What a charming spot tucked away off of busy Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield, Virginia. I had no idea this private cove existed but I'm glad I had the pleasure of visiting this weekend. My daughter's high school cheerleading program has been using this facility for their end of the year banquet for a few years, I was told. This was our first year in the program and all the way around it has been top notch and classy, culminating with this event. There is plenty of parking, and the grand entrance is something to note. The entire club is decorated for Christmas and it is beautiful. It really set the mood for the evening. After a few short words from the coaches, we were introduced to the buffet. The food was mediocre. Some kind of baked/oven fried chicken circled in spinach with a warm, cream sauce. My daughter said it reminded her of a frozen dinner she once had at a sleepover. There were also cheese tortellini, quartered red potatoes and steamed broccoli. The servers put out sliced sheet cake at the end. It looked like it came from Costco but after one bite, I knew it didn't. The cake was the star of the menu! So unbelievably moist. You could tell you get what you pay for and believe me, our tickets were cheap compared to the types of events that normally would be hosted here. I could imagine grand weddings and golf events... I wasn't sure what I was expecting, attending a wedding at the Springfield Golf & Country Club -- golfers wearing trucker hats? A Bill Murray groundskeeper? Fried chicken at the buffet? My thoughts going into the evening definitely revealed deep-seated and unfair biases against this suburb to the south. SG&CC was the opposite of all my preconceived notions. Set back from Old Keene Mill, the clubhouse is a lovely brick Colonial, quite appealing from the outside. The upstairs ballroom where the wedding ceremony and reception were held, is beautiful: a large but intimate hall with huge picture windows along the back length of the room where doors open to a balcony overlooking the immaculately kept golf course. We were able to watch players driving and putting in the setting sun while enjoying glasses of wine and passed hors d'oeuvres. Speaking of hors d'oeuvres, they were mostly a hit. A shrimp and avocado ceviche, brie and raspberry filo puffs, mushroom and goat cheese crostini, crab cakes set in Chinese soup spoons, sweet and sour chicken bites, and bacon and gorgonzola wrapped filet were all gobbled down. The dinner of mahi and steak accompanied by haricots verts amandine and roasted potatoes was a success. And the bar -- while completely overwhelmed by thirsty partygoers -- kept the wine and beer flowing and poured some of the stiffest bourbon and ginger ales I've ever had the pleasure of imbibing. Big ups to our server Yana, too, who took special care of us and our friends all evening, even managing to score an extra mahi mahi dinner for me when the vegetarian plate turned out to be a stack of my most-reviled veg, eggplant. We decided to visit some extended family for the Holidays and ate here the day after Christmas. Overall, for what was paid, I expected a lot more. Food: I had the Prime Rib Special, my wife had a shrimp entrée, and my daughter ordered (of all things) friggin' pizza. All of it can be summed up in one word...'disappointing'. Prime Rib: I ordered it rare with the assumption that they had a delicious cut of meat slow-roasting for their dinner hour. It turns out that the prime rib was pre-cooked, then re-fired. Furthermore, that it was coated in a blackening seasoning. I knew about the seasoning, but was unaware that the prime rib would essentially be re-heated with some seasoning on it. This was undoubtedly a ploy to sell prime rib that did not sell earlier in the day (or week). Very disappointing. Lastly, it was so unevenly cooked that it was a crime against the animal. Half of it was medium-well, the other half medium. How? I have no eff'ing idea. Mind you, it was nowhere near rare... I am not even sure how they achieved this, but it is a first for me. Despite that, the flavor was good. The seasoning was nice, and the horseradish cream sauce that I requested paired well with the blackening seasoning. Unfortunately, none of that could make up for a re-heated piece of meat that was overcooked in a manner that not even I can fathom. (2/5) Shrimp: The shrimp were large and cooked well, but the flavor lacked seasoning. There was absolutely no nuance with this dish. (2 / 5) Sides: The sides were all disappointing. The veggies seemed like they could have been fresh - at one time or another - but were soggy and overcooked. The mashed potatoes tasted more instant than real - even though I am certain they were 'real'. Again, not sure how they achieved this, but they did. (2 / 5) Pizza: My daughter's $7-8 pizza was on a pre-made (Boboli-like) crust, undoubtedly a premade sauce, with low quality mozzarella cheese. I could have bought a quality, large cheese pizza for this price. This is shameful... (2/5) Rant Time: Any 'high quality' restaurant that cannot muster the culinary skill to make my child a homemade quality meal, does not deserve my business. I believe that all parents want their children to eat quality, homemade food from a restaurant (especially at a country club) - not processed crap. Not only would it be cheaper to make your own sauce and dough, it would be infinitely better as well. I have zero respect for establishments that somehow believe that since it is a child they are serving, that the child deserves a lower standard of food. Unacceptable. Food:  2 / 5 Service: This was the bright spot of the evening. The service was all on-point, expedient, efficient, and very respectful. One of our servers had a sense of humor (the young man), but the female had no personality and seemed like she didn't want to be there. Not so much so that it was distracting; but it was noticeable. Despite the sour taste she left in my mouth, it did not overshadow the hospitality of our server or the manager on duty. Service: 4 / 5 Atmosphere: This is a beautiful set-up. Overlooking the nice grounds and the dining room looked pristine. Everything about the atmosphere screamed 'upscale dining'. Even most of the service met the expectation when one dines at an establishment in this category. This would be a great place for a nice family dinner, a date, or a get-together on a company level, or a family level. Very classy. Atmosphere: 5 / 5 Price: Unfortunately, the price does not justify the quality of the food. From re-heated prime rib that was cooked in a manner that rendered it two completely different levels of doneness, to a lack of nuance in terms of seasoning the shrimp dish, to serving my daughter substandard and processed food that one would receive in an Elementary School's cafeteria, yet charging 10x the price; I could not be more dissatisfied with the overall value of the establishment. For those reasons, I would never return. Price: 1 / 5 Final Thoughts: For me, this is a classic case of a place masking themselves, and 'dolling themselves up' to look like a fine dining establishment, but when you get right down to it; the quality of the food, the preparation of the food, and the overall flavor of the food speaks for itself. I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere, unless you are into mediocre and disappointing food for a premium price. read more

My new employer had their beginning of the year staff meeting here. I didn't know what to expect which blew away my expectations. It made me appreciate the company I work for for holding such an elegant event at such a nice venue. I haven't been to many country clubs like this so I guess this gets high grades by default. However I was very impressed and grateful to be here. Our staff meeting went on for 8 hours with employee recognitions, announcements, speakers from different organizations talking about topics ranging from ethics to communication to retirement planning. While the groups of employees would've been a knockout meeting anywhere, this venue with their design made it more powerful. The large room where we had our meeting for the 100+ employees reminded me a lot of a place where couples have wedding receptions. Located on the second floor, It's also over the beautiful view of the great golf course which I hope to play at someday. The staff was accommodating with their service and the food and beverages provided were tasty and presented elegantly. It's a reflection of what my employer represents and I'm glad they think highly of us to hold their meeting here. My favorite news was hearing the company has their meeting here every six months so that means I get to return here again! read more

The place is spacious and the food/ guest services was on point. There is plenty of parking. New GM and over active Board are running things into the ground without engaging the broader membership. The tennis pro of 25+ years was let go and supporting staff left as a result. The golf course is decent, but the greenskeeper doesn't understand how to keep the course in tip-top shape. Weed control is an afterthought and flowerbeds are lucky to get mulched by Memorial Day. Bermuda is taking over some of the fairways and the greenskeeper solution is to re-sod areas of the course each year. This year he targeted trees and cut 75+ trees making the course much more open and removing that established feel. The little aesthetic details like crumbling cart paths, dandelions, rotting railroad ties, bare spots, and sloping tee boxes detract from a finished product. The driving range is off mats most times to protect the precious Bermuda that is only grows from late-May through October. There is not good area to work on wedges or irons as you hit from an elevated position and cannot see the ball land inside 150-160. The short game practice fairway is closed 90% of the time. The only bright spot seems to be the new chef. Hopefully they can keep him and get some waitstaff. read more

It's cold -- the clique that runs the Board/Club are women haters/ haters of all not in their clique and use language most ppl haven't heard since 8th grade. There is no member service associated with this Country Club. The Board also fires staff for personal vendetta's - it's an unhappy overly expensive Club. They raise the dues and fees annually. If you are a Social member and not golf member you are treated like a lesser class. Go elsewhere. Pickle ball and tennis are such a mess that most members have left for PB facilities in Chantilly and Alexandria. The pool is used by the clique as their personal bar and they allow kids to use squirt guns in the pool. Beer cans float in the pool! Skip it. It's a disappointment- members not in the clique walk on egg shells. Food is overrated and pricey. Bunch of mean ppl w/not a lot going on in their lives. It's too bad. They also buy things w/out asking the Membership. Unnecessary 19 foot wine refrigerator that was tens of thousands of dollars. They had to move a wall! Pizza Oven, again, for teens of thousands of dollars. The Board members can't afford West Springfield - don't live there - yet are trying to make SGCC a Ritz Carlton. Skip it. read more

I cannot recommend SGCC enough. Stellar online reviews directed to me this gem of a venue when I was venue hunting, and I have to pay it forward by adding my own recommendation. The venue itself is beautiful--large windows along the back of the ballroom and a very spacious balcony overlook the perfectly manicured greens. It is also rather large, fitting about 220 people max, but can be partitioned for smaller parties. There is a large dance floor in the middle and two bars on each side, and the buffet can be set up in the foyer-- so everything feels well structured and organized. But the biggest kudos go to SGCC's wedding coordinator, Jennifer Toney, who could not have made the process any smoother. We were having a rather traditional Middle Eastern wedding, and she went out of her way to accommodate our many unique needs. We hosted two events, one at another venue, and one at SGCC, and it was honestly night and day-- I wish we had hosted both at SGCC! She was extremely patient with my many questions and requests, and handled everything super seamlessly the day of. It all came together beautifully and people are still raving about the food! If you're looking for a beautiful venue close to DC with the expertise and capacity to handle your wedding flawlessly AND good value for money, you have to check out Springfield Golf and Country Club. read more

Company Holiday Party was held here this week consisting of a cocktail hour with open bar and passed appetizers and a sit down buffet dinner, both held in the main dining room upstairs. The space was very nice and festively decorated for the holidays, staff very attentive, and the bartenders exceptionally quick and accommodating. The food was a little hit or miss however. Standouts were: Passed appetizers: puff pastry with peach filling, thai chicken molded onto sugarcane skewers, crostini with caramelized onions, and the little fresh sandwiches of mozzarella, prosciutto and basil. Prime rib: the most succulent slice of beef juicy rare beef that I've had in a long time with a nice zingy horseradish sauce to accompany it. Special vegetarian plate: several folks at my table were vegetarians and instead of being limited to the salad and roasted veggies on the buffet, the country club had prepared a special plate for each with a tower of roasted pepper, mushrooms, and squashes garnished with a sprig of fresh rosemary (next year I'm definitely rsvping as a vegetarian - this vegetarian plate was the most tantalizing thing) Rice with dried cranberries and nuts: Fantastic Clear misses: Dessert shooters: first off it wasn't clear from the dessert table which shooter was which (apple pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate mousse, pecan pie, chestnut cheesecake) and most of them missed the mark in flavor composition. (My table ended up having a tower of half eaten plastic shooter cups.) Dinner rolls: Hard Buffet itself: no signage to indicate what dishes were, causing several people to abandon plates of braised beef and mushrooms as it wasn't obvious from looking at the contents of the warmer that it was a beef dish. read more

I came here for an office dinner party. The place is spacious. We started off with drinks, cocktail shrimps, and bread. All of it was delicious. Then we moved over to a private room that accommodated our large group. I started off with she crab soup. I can't remember how it tasted but it was good. Entree I order the filet mignon with a side of pasta. It was not dry and good in portions. For dessert I got the creme brulee. I only ate part of it because I was getting full. I do love how crispy the top is. This place can easily be missed when driving. Just remember the country club is in front of the shopping center that has a giant in it. read more

My sister just had her wedding at Springfield Golf and Country Club and it was amazing! The venue itself is beautiful, the food is amazing, the staff is so helpful and nice and the catering manager (Jennifer) is absolutely the best! The food was very good, guests raved about the hor d'oeuvres, the food and the cake! The cake was gorgeous, all made at the venue! They also have an outdoor patio, which is great for people to sit and socialize during the cocktail hour. The prices are also very reasonable and cheaper than most places around the area. The wedding was on a Sunday and we were able to come to the venue at 8am to set up photos, candy table, favors, place cards and etc. The venue can setup the favors and place cards but my sister wanted to set it up a certain way so they allowed us to come early and do it ourselves. Don't go for tea. They made a killing off our group today, shame on them for doing that to a group of military retiree wives. The tea was a buffet style but they gave us very little and what was given was obviously made days before. The sandwiches were stale and bland, the scones were hard, and they only offered run of the mill basic tea. A group of 30 + ladies had to share one platter of sandwiches, 1 platter of strawberries, and 1 small platter of scones. For 33 dollars per person we each had a few stale tea size/finger sandwiches, 2 strawberries, 1 scone, and tea. No wait staff came around to assist, only to pick up our plates. read more

I had my wedding at this club on March 20th and everything was gorgeous! The ceremony, cocktail hour with tasty, assorted Hors D'oeuvres, delicious dinner entrees, cake cutting and champagne toast were fabulous. So many family members and guests commented on the high quality, delicious food! The staff was perfect and took care of everything! No worries for wedding planner or me as the bride! I attended a wedding at Springfield CC this weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. Their service was top notch. The food was surprisingly delicious! They have a nice event space that was large enough for 150 guests and a large dance floor. The space overlooks the golf course, which is lush and green. I am actually a member and it was the worst decision we ever made to join this club. All they care is about the money and not the members! If you are looking for a club to join do not join this one. There customer service is terrible and when we had a tough time time because my wife got laid off 7 months pregnant, they didn't even care about our situation as long as they got their money. They said pay it or we are going to sue you! Please do not join this club! Lisa in accounting is very rude and does not want to help, only care about getting their money. We had our wedding here and it was remarkable. They have the friendliest staff i.e. hostess (Jennifer), waitresses, bartenders, and receptionists, and the best customer service. I highly recommend their ballroom for a party of 180. They just did a fabulous job from beginning to end; their decorations, their setup, their tables, their chairs, their balcony, their picturesque background (outlooking the golf course), their food, their prices were perfect, just everything was wonderful! I've had the opportunity to play the course only on a couple of occasions and don't consider myself a good enough player to critiquea course but I will say it is one of the most pristine courses I've ever played. The greens are so fast and clean it's like putting on smooth Concrete but you'll love it once you get the feel. As for the food and club this I feel much better prepared to offer an opinion. The club is excellent, the food unique at times and delicious. Truth be told this area is very lacking in good restaurants. But this is a gem in the rough. It's a shame that the club is private and you must be a guest to enjoy the lounge or dinning room but of course this is to be understood. I love the decor and fine woodwork throughout Building. I've enjoyed a couple of weddings and events at the club and love the ball room with the huge outdoor covered patio on the second level overlooking the course. sg&cc was a great find! i had my wedding at sg&cc this past may and couldn't be happier with the food, service, staff, and over-all experience. i went all over the dc area looking for a space that was big enough, a good price, and not a typical reception. although it was on the "cookie-cutter" side, sg&cc let us rent long tables and transform the space. jennifer, the event planner, is extremely nice and pleasant to work with. my guests all had rave reviews of the reception. read more
