DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES! DO NOT BUY THE GROUPON!…read more I cannot even tell you the amount of issues we have experienced. Everything from not being able to confirm our appointments, to not honouring the terms of the Groupon, to charging us for equipment etc even though the Groupon said everything was included. Oh and also being told on the phone we could go to their King East location but finding out later that we had to drive all the way for Mississauga. Not worth it. Don't buy.

There is an additional cost for absolutely everything. After paying extra for the textbooks, and getting their open water dive 'deal', the snorkel and fin rentals for the dive were extra (although the other equipment was included- guess they didn't think snorkel was necessary equipment) and a few people had issues with the equipment in the water. We were told that the $250 we paid for the open water dives included ALL equipment, and were hit with the extra charge when we went to get fitted. I won't even go into how many issues we had booking a dive, them losing our reservation and telling us we were SOL because there was no room left that weekend, and that they were 'not able to find our paperwork'. The guys doing the open water dives were nice- every other interaction I had with them was a customer service nightmare. Not helpful, arrogant, dismissive, disorganized- just terrible. We specifically asked during the open water dive whether or not there were any more fees in order to get our PADI card- we were told there was a $25 fee if we wanted to get it the fast way, but otherwise no. I couldn't believe that we were finally getting something from them that was actually included in the price we paid. Too good to be true- we were told to just come in when we dropped off our equipment, get the application, attach a picture and mail it in. Easy peasy. Instead we were charged $75 EACH and basically told that we had to pay it or they weren't signing off and we would have wasted hundreds of dollars. DO NOT recommend. Save yourself the trouble and get certified anywhere else.

I can say that the few one star reviews about this organization are filled with falsehoods. There is only one place I would recommend learning to dive and travel with and that is Float N' Flag!

We have had horrific experiences with this company, although it started out great. The personal…read moredrama and side issues caused us to declare our complete separation from this operation. We walked away from the diving and the friendship recently after a nightmare trip. We began diving with Float N' Flag in 2018. The service was impressive and competence at that time impressed us. However, within 1-2 years of diving with Brad and Tammy, it became clear that they are always surrounded by extreme negative drama. The extremely personal gossip about their clients began early but became more troubling as our time with Float N' Flag continued. We questioned our friendship a few times when they disclosed information about other clients that was so personal that we were uncomfortable. Tammy and Brad have tried to influence our friendships with people who have left their dive community, or have offended them. They are very pushy in this regard with many in their dive group. Dishonesty and vindictiveness became a serious concern. We went to the Maldives on a live aboard trip this year. Through negligence on their part, there was a Covid infection on board. Myself and another passenger were treated like criminals. I was placed in isolation on a couch outside, at the front of the boat. There was a monsoon that first night and Brad came out, suggesting that I return to my cabin, despite the risk of infecting my wife. He suggested I sleep in the salon area, but that would infect staff who were sleeping there. Brad offered no real help. He hurried back inside to keep dry. I was left standing on the couch to keep my feet out of the water on the floor. There was an electrical cord in the water, which presented a risk of electrical shock. The couch and blankets ended up being soaked. When I was sunburned the next day, I sought shade the next day at the rear of the boat while the divers were away on the smaller boat. As the boat returned, I went back to the front of the boat, away from people. I was reprimanded and told I was being punished. Tammy yelled at me and told me I had broken rules. She yelled at the other infected passenger until she was distraught. Tammy viciously lied about the other passenger, telling the divers that she had intentionally withheld her test results. This was proven false partway through the trip but Tammy continued to claim that it was true. Tammy angered other passengers, telling them that we were both resisting isolation requirements, which was untrue. I tried to speak with Brad, but he offered no help. He is unable to reason with Tammy. Brad supported Tammy's offensive treatment. I missed half of the diving and experienced such degradation and hostility that I could never trust either again. The treatment of the other passenger was cruel and unnecessary. In all of this, I saw a side of Brad and Tammy that was beyond disappointing. Despite their claim to the contrary, at least 5 passengers contracted Covid on this trip. This was the second time I was infected with Covid on a Float N' Flag trip. It was the second time we witnessed unethical and vindictive behaviour towards those infected. It was one of MANY times that we witnessed Brad and Tammy issuing ultimatums about who could have a friendship with whom. Brad states that giving customers false information about dive trips is justified because "it's marketing and does not necessarily reflect the reality of the situation". They lie to their friends without conscience. Personal drama interferes with professional conduct and standards, and havoc ensues. Even if you leave the dive group, the drama and persistent communications continue. (Edit: I continue to receive unwanted harassment regarding this review). Those who depart out of necessity are denied refunds for deposits. Brad claims that "shop policy" is his justification for things such as withheld deposits. Float N' Flag is no longer an operation that I can trust. I once endorsed them enthusiastically but I now recommend doing a lot of research before becoming involved with them.

The course was a good mixture between theoretical and practical. I thought that we went through the material at a pace that was slow enough for everyone to follow and fast enough that we didn't get bored. The weekend really just flew by. Todd has a great instructor and allowed us to ask tons of questions and shared his own personal experiences diving which was really interesting! The practical portion in the pool was a ton of fun and it progressed in steps so it was easy to follow along. They offer drop in sessions on Tuesday nights in the pool for a great price so it's nice that you can continue practicing even after the course is completed to make sure you are comfortable when you get into open water. I thought this course was a overall a great value for the price and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning to scuba dive!

Even though this…read morewasn't a certification course I still got a taste of what scuba diving was like, and if I want to pursue a certification in the future the experience does count for some credits. We arrived at the My Dive Center to get an overview of what scuba diving is like and we went through some terminologies and safety precautions before we got fitted for our gears. The Diving Masters there are all PADI certified. Our instructor/Diving Master Theo was really knowledgeable and was super friendly, and I totally appreciate his effort in accommodating our big group of 10 to get us fitted for our equipment. After the lecture we went to the swimming pool at a local high school. The diving equipment that we received today included the diving mask, buoyancy controlled diving vest, oxygen tank, and the fins to wear on the feet. At the pool we were split into small groups 4 to 5 to get a more personal lesson with another instructor. My instructor Matt went through with us how to put on the equipment and guided us through the basic diving skills before letting us get a taste of the scuba diving experience. Even though I somewhat struggled at the fog-clearing exercise, Matt was really helpful and patient with me at guiding me through the process. In total we spent around 3 hours in the water and I totally enjoyed every second of it. I highly recommend everyone to give Discover Scuba Diving a try, especially if you're thinking of getting certified.

What an amazing experience and an absolutely amazing team!…read more My husband and I wanted to get our Scuba Diving certification, as we were leaving for vacation to Mexico and wanted to go diving there. We decided to do the Referral Program, which is basically the theory + confined water dives with 1 Scuba Outfit, and the final open water dives can be completed anywhere in the world, where there is a PADI shop. After much research, and talking to few shops around Toronto, we decided to go with Yoon Chin at My Dive Center. And we are SO GLAD that we did. Initially we were a bit cautious, and their rates were a bit cheaper than some of the other shops we had spoken to, for the same course, and we didn't want the quality of the training compromised due to lesser price being offered, but after speaking to Yoon, I felt super comfortable. Yoon is such am amazing person, and a wonderful instructor. He went out of way to accommodate us (we were working on a very tight schedule), and he made sure that we got all the theoretical training we needed before going into the pool. In the pool, we were trained by instructors Marty and Pat. The pool they rent is not at the shop of the dive center, it's a separate community center and they just rent the facility. And it's a great space for the pool classes. Marty and Pat were both absolutely amazing (and lots of fun be around!!). They made everyone feel comfortable and at ease with the whole process. It was a bit scary initially (especially for me, I had just learned to swim as an adult a year or two ago) but it was honestly so much fun! I honestly couldn't recommend them more. So much so that we even considered doing the full course with these guys (the open water dives, in lake Ontario) but we just didn't have the time otherwise we would have done so. Yoon and his team are extremely passionate about diving, very serious about safety and a lot of fun!!
