I had searched initially on Yelp but options came up short (following this review that will no longer be an issue). I connected with business owner Paul and chatted about prices, location, times and dates (the usual). Paul was very laid back and yet totally professional letting me know that he was flexible and totally willing to accommodate us on our day of choice. Making himself readily available by phone or email we confirmed a date and time and only needed to pay for one person in advance to secure the time slot, which I did via e-mail money transfer (oh the joys and conveniences of internet). When the day came, admittedly we were a touch (45 minutes) tardy, however we made sure to let Paul know we'd be running behind. When we finally arrived Paul was waiting for us happy to have us there. We signed some waivers and paid the rest of our balance owing and walked towards the close by community of floating houses (apparently something no longer allowed to be built in Ontario). Paul was a gracious host and professional guide, teaching us the basics of SUP (Stand-up Paddleboard) in minutes and getting us on our way quick. He took us around the marina and into the open water area teaching us about the ecosystem around us, the clarity of the water, and various wildlife present (didn't get to see the Karp or Muskeye he bragged about - probably a good thing). The entire experience was informative, fun, great exercise and a real joy all the way around! We were also fortunate enough that there weren't other bookings that day so Paul ended up taking us out for another 20-30 minutes over the hour we paid for! We all agreed that this was a great experience and would DEFINITELY come back to try! I HIGHLY recommend you give this place a try or at the very least try your hand at SUP! PS - Lake Ontario is ICE COLD - I didn't fall in BUT daaayyummmmm that ISH is C-O-L-D!

We asked if there were good eats on the island as a few places looked close. Someone directed us to the marina and told us we could get fresh food her. When you get of the Centre Island ferry take a right a walk through the black gate. It's definitely off the beaten path. It was so quiet that day, we started getting worried that we were in one of those island horror movies like The Wickerman. However, after we passed the gate we ended up a nice local boating community with a large dock, general store, gas station for boats, and The Upper Deck. It was the hottest day of the summer and we sat out on the deck with loads of sunscreen. There were just a handful of people there. The waitress came to wipe off the table and we ordered food and drinks. I was totally excited when our food came. We ordered the the Cheeseburger with fries and the Turkey club with onion rings. Everything was amazing. The Cheeseburger was perfectly cooked, juicy, and had aged cheddar and a pickle on top. The club had just the right amount of mayo. Suprisingly the fries and rings were equally good. Definitely come here next time you visit the islands. Sure, the Carousel Cafe is good, but I can't imagine their food tasting as awesome as the Upper Deck.

After around 30 minutes we were yet to receive our food, and once we finally did, I was handed something unexpected. I was given an already cold and lame excuse for a pizza that didn't even have cheese on it. I'm not sure if the menu specified that, but I was very displeased. My meal consisted of pesto on bubbly, crunchy bread with a couple pieces of minced chicken. It was very mediocre. After the rest of my table was given their food, we still hadn't received the drinks we had ordered almost 40 minutes prior. Once we told the waitress she came back with them later but had been standing at the bar for a while since there weren't that many other customers there at the time. The drinks we ordered and the other food were decent but still undeserving of the hefty price we were charged. To top it all off, tip was already included in the bill, giving us no freedom to select our desired amount of gratuity. I was not angry, rather disappointed by this restaurant's nonchalance and unfairness towards its customers. I am not usually this forward, but I have made an acceptance on account of such behavior. If I could give this place zero stars I would, however I will grant it a one, as the views were quite exquisite.

We rented the tandem water bike, which has a paddle board between the bike seats. You do not have to peddle in sync, which is always nice. There are baskets on the bike for small bags and other accessories. The bikes are very stable on the water and easy to maneuver. There is a break wall by the beach where you can paddle within if the lake is a bit rougher on your visit. The staff there are very friendly and helpful with information about the bikes. If the water bike isn't your style, they also have kayaks. Just a note: your waiver must use your full government name on your ID, including any middle names.

After a long day on the water we were ready for dinner. We walked over to National. It was about 8 pm on a Friday night. I had the fish fry. It was good. The service was not very attentive. When we walked in they said we could sit anywhere. After 5 minutes we got our own menus. After 5 more minutes we asked if anyone could take our order. There were 5 of us. They served food to 3. And 5 minutes later served food to the remaining 2. Then we had to ask for the bill.

I am *VERY* surprised that the National Yacht Club has not been reviewed yet!…read more One of my friends is a member of this club, and we had a special event to coordinate (a landmark birthday party). We rented the main floor dining and bar area (for a fee of approximately $300.00) and we had 30 guests attend our event. The main floor lounge is big enough to hold a few more people than we had in attendance, and we also used the patio outside. There are 2 large screen TVs mounted on the wall across from the bar, and the staff helped us display a slide show of the guest of honour on those screens. We even Skyped with a couple of people who could not be there in person. Oh, and the NYC even has free wifi! The tables were beautifully covered with linens: white table cloths, blue cloth napkins, cutlery wrapped in serviettes, and glasses of water. It was a hot day, and the event was catered; the barbecue was set up on the patio, which provided fabulous views of the boats and the skyline of Toronto. The food was excellent! There was a green salad, another salad with couscous in it, corn on the cob, and your choice of burger or chicken on a bun. I skipped the bun and had chicken. It was really good! There was a chef, the event coordinator, and a bar tender - and that's all the staff they had for this event. They were efficient and helpful. The Yacht Club has its own private parking lot which is gated; you press a button, and someone answers to let you in (we were guests of my friend who is a member, so we gave her membership number). Once inside, parking is free. I would definitely use this facility again, if I could. On the other hand, I don't have a membership. Costs of membership vary, depending on what you need: there's an initiation fee of $100 and up (depending on what you need, or your age), then annual dues that range from $288 per year all the way up to $1,795.00; so it depends on how much you would use it. But the service and the facility were really great!

The weather was warm, the lake was nice and calm and we set out for what ended up being an absolutely incredible day and evening. Our journey began with a warm and friendly greeting by Captain Rhonda. Once we got on the boat, we were given safety instructions and got ready to set sail. Our first stop was on Hanlan's Point where we enjoyed a nice picnic. The beach was packed with women, men and children of all ages. The vibe was great as everyone was soaking up the sun and spending quality time with family and friends. After a few hours of lounging on the beach, we got back on to the boat and toured the west side and south side of the Toronto Islands. Our next stop was Ward's Island. We docked the boat, went for a nice walk on the boardwalk and then stopped in to sit down and have a cold beverage and a wonderful snack at the Rectory Cafe. We then continued our walk, stopped for ice cream and walked around the neighbourhood of Ward's Island. We got back on the boat and continued to explore the east and north side of the Toronto Islands. While on the north side, we explored the lagoons and stopped in to the Toronto Island Marina where a live band was playing just before the sun set. We wanted to be on the water while the sun was setting so we could take in Toronto's breathtaking waterfront. What a sight that was! Pictures don't do a justice! Captain Rhonda is a very friendly and knowledgeable person and knows quite a bit of the history of this fantastic city we call home. She really cares about her customers and will do anything to be accommodating. I would definitely recommend Humber Bay Boating Adventures to anyone who would like an intimate tour of the Toronto Islands and Lake Ontario whether you're in a group or would just like to go out with that special someone. We were staying in Brampton, and we were looking for a trail to ride our bikes on. I was looking at…read morethe Peel bike website, and saw this long squiggle across the foot of the escarpment. I suggested doing this trail to Lee, and we drove to the start in Terra Cotta and off we went. There are a variety of surfaces to this trail, mostly crushed stone, sometimes dirt, and occasionally paved. It winds through the countryside, past an abandoned brick factory, through farmlands, suburbs, and forests, as well as a downtown tourist area. If you've ever driven along Highway 10 towards Orangeville, you have seen the blue arched bridge of the trail path. It's part of the Trans Canada Trail, and one of the pavilions is located near Caledon East. The trail is gentle and mostly flat, although there are a couple of road crossings that are steep, probably because a railroad trestle was removed at some point. There's a lot of opportunities for nature watching, particularly because the trail goes through several nature preserves. I saw quite a few chippies and squirrels, as well as orioles, jays and other birds. I only have a couple of complaints: one is that although there are frequent trash cans along the trail, in a couple of places they were overflowing with garbage, implying that it had been a very long time since it had been cleaned up. This was pretty yucky in my opinion, a bit of a disappointment. The other complaint was that part of the trail was shut down for maintenance/construction, but there were no signs directing cyclists to a detour. We ended up doing what most people were doing: cutting through the fence and going through the construction site. Other than these quibbles, it's a great trail that you should check out if you're in the area.

We accessed it through a frail yet charming town of Inglewood, right off of McLaughlin Road. To those staying in Mississauga and Brampton, you can basically take the road straight down to the trail. Apparently, it isn't a hidden secret and tons of people know about this trail. We went at 7 am and saw a few bikers and some walkers. We hiked down with Caesar (my doggo) and it was serene and empty enough that I could let him off leash. We covered about 10km (past hwy 10 and then back). It's an easy hike as the land is pretty flat, a few ups and downs here and there but nothing too rough. It was mostly pebbled path with trees on both sides and some streams of water that Caesar was so KEEN on jumping into. There were 2 concrete bridges we crossed over - all in all it was a great morning walk with the dog. I highly recommend this place.

Many people do parasailing when they vacation abroad, but we were glad to find parasailing right…read morehere close to home! Everything was very efficiently ran with great customer service - from booking online and finding the location (they have a tent labelled "Parasail Ontario" right by the dock near the lighthouse at Port Credit), to getting outfitted with the PFD lifejackets, getting on the boat, and the whole experience. The person manning the tent and helping with check-ins was super friendly and helpful. You can choose to leave your shoes or sandals on the dock or boat when you do the parasailing (depending on whether you opt for the "dip toes in the water" experience). Don't carry a large backpack or anything big on the boat, as there isn't a lot of space. Everything was on time and on the dot - so be sure to get there at least 15 minutes early to check in, sign waivers, put on PFDs, and get briefing. There were 9 passengers on the boat, and we took turns doing the parasailing (about 10 minutes for each group of 2 or 3). 2 staff were on board - 1 person to steer the boat as captain, and 1 person to help the passengers get outfitted with harness, work the rope, etc. I loved the upbeat hip-hop music on the boat. We felt very secure and stable while up there... very relaxing and you can have conversations (didn't feel or sound too windy). Great view of the surrounding water and city from up above. If you purchase the video package, you get to hold a GoPro in a waterproof case and mounted on a selfie stick for the duration of your parasail adventure. Then they give you the Micro SD card and an adapter to take home. I totally recommend this adventure experience 100%!

The only thing I personally didn't like was that there was a long go pro video from our first friend group and then us in the second group. On another parasailing adventure, the staff took photos for us and they were excellent and required 0 effort on our part. Really would have preferred this over making us all do the go pro. But it didn't ruin my experience or anything just wasn't my preference. Overall, I highly recommend this experience!
