A great experience! So I happened upon this hotel in a search for places to stay travelling on…read morebusiness and I'm so happy that I did... A mix of the past with a touch of the new... a beautiful mansion turned into a beautiful hotel keeping the warmth of the beautiful wood but updated with modern amenities for your convenience... walking through the front door you can feel the history and can't help but instantly admire and respect the craftsmanship in every detail that was put into the railings, the stained glass and the textures and colours of the walls. A friendly greeting and pleasant experience at the front desk you are given a room key... Yes an actual room key... That opens the door to an outstanding room with all the same class and elegance of the lobby but with an updated bathroom, a king size bed and all the conveniences of a new hotel from the flatscreen TV to the mini fridge in the desk and an Nespresso machine for your morning or evening espresso... whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner you're looking for, you need not leave the hotel, the House restaurant is every bit as elegant as the rest of the hotel with great service, a classy ambiance and excellent chef driven cuisine... You will not be disappointed!! This was an experience... A wonderful experience... That was brought to life not only by the hotel itself but by the wonderful staff that take pride in what they are involved in and reminding me of what service really is....or....what it used to be! Thank you so much to all the staff and I look forward to my return! Zeke

I am a city girl who has never gone camping. I love the concrete jungle and anything outside of it…read moreis unfamiliar and sometimes unwelcome. This beautiful motel is a bit of paradise. It made me turn off my phone and look up at the sky. The rooms here are a throwback to old school motel but it is very clean and comfortable and fully equipped with what you might need. Kim, the owner, is such a lovely host that you can't help but feel immediately relaxed when she greets you. She radiates friendliness and verve. They have a tiny lake that you could swim in, which is a tiny ecosystem housing 2 swans, 2 herons, ducklings and lots of lily pods. It is so peaceful. The patio garden has been laid out in the most comfortably cunning way, with 2 areas for outdoor fire and thoughtfully grouped patio furniture for maximum relaxation and coziness. Each set of outdoor patio has expectation of comfort and some privacy. We stayed at the guest house, which had a glorious salt water hot tub. That hot tub melted all of my neck and shoulder pain. There is nothing like immersing in effervescently warm water while you have a perfect view of the moon over the lake and hundreds of stars. In the evenings, we went to the outdoor fireplace and made honest to goodness smores. I was on a cooked only by open fire diet and I loved it. The room has a kitchenette and grill, which allowed us to cook most of our meals. There are trails around the resort, which you could walk safely any time of the day. f you feel quite active you have access to bikes and boats at no additional cost. There is a boat shed stocked with every imaginable nostalgic outdoor game. I grabbed the hula hoop and kept my waistline busy on it the whole weekend. This is a perfect transition for me if we ever go camping. The great thing is that it is only a couple miles away from a food and beer store and the culture of Stratford. I was loathe to go for supplies since all I wanted to do was lounge and be lazy. This place really lets you recharge your batteries if you let it. Sit back and grab some continental breakfast and let nature give you a big embrace. Truly a woodland retreat. I think this will be our yearly retreat.

We read the reviews and were sucked in! I've been in larger bathrooms in motor homes. I had to sit…read moreoutside to use my computer, the Wi-Fi would not work in the room. Then there were the trains. A grade crossing less then a football field away at which all trains blasted their horns made sleeping a bit difficult. The Inn suggested turning on the AC to drown out the noise but it was so loud we couldn't here the TV! Considering the price was the same as the major hotels in the area we will go back there next year and enjoy the quiet.

What an amazing campsite! Would give 4 1/2 stars if only I could. What an amazing and strange year…read more2020 has been so far! As you know, COVID19 is here and has shut down pretty much everything! Although businesses are now open under strict rules, campground washrooms are off limits - even though campsites are permitted to open for business. The "new normal" is very different from what we were used to before! This year, we lucked in and found a trailer at an affordable price, so we can bring our own washroom with us! This was the 3rd campsite we have tried, and the biggest one of all so far (as well as the most expensive), although it obviously has no beach or waterfront anywhere near it. However, what they miss in the way of waterfront, they make up for in other ways: a full golf course; mini-putt; a petting zoo (some animals were absent because of COVID) (and you're not allowed to pet or feed the animals right now because of COVID); 4 pools of varying sizes; a bouncy jumping thing (not a castle); volley ball courts and tennis courts; and about 650 campsites. The place is massive! They have many many very impressive seasonal rentals, which have beautiful gardens. Downside: there is very patchy / non-existent internet available out there, although you can pay a fee for access once you're inside the park and registered. In fact, internet was so bad as we were approaching the site that we got lost on the way there! Good thing someone was still there to answer our call for help and guidance! As it was, we just made it under the wire with five minutes to spare. Another downer was the price; this place is double in price than the other 2 we stayed in previously. Spots were spacious enough. It was very busy and crowded when we were there; obviously the locals love it here. It's very popular.

We stayed 4 days 3 nights for around $375 total PROS : Fairly spacious 1 Bedroom cottage Kitchenette came fully equipped Doors on cottage locked securely Enclosed Porch Super family friendly with lots of outside activities for kids Movie night 2 days a week Walmart and Gas station right up the street Each cottage had a bbq grill (dirty) but they all had one CONS : Super narrow when driving down hill to unload your things into the cottage so turning around can be challenging (especially with the "no driving on grass" signs. You can unload but you have to park in the lot at the top of the hill and walk back down Wifi was not working well so your basically without service most of the time Lots of BEES The bed was really uncomfortable so we slept on the futon in the living room The heat didn't really work so at night and I'm the early morning it would be freezing. Like throw a hoodie on cold They tell you to bring your own sheets and towels But the blanket that's offered is mad thin so I wish I would of brought my own A few of the dishes were dirty and had to be rewashed before use The tv in my auntie cottage couldn't have been bigger then 20inch (my desktop monitor is bigger) mines was a little bigger then hers which she didn't understand because we paid the same amount for our separate cottages Bonfire pit was right off the water, so it was super windy, cold, and water kept splashing us while we were trying to get it lit The furniture in the cabins was pretty outdated not "rustic" ..outdated The cottages need face lifts which is obvious the paint in my bedroom what bubbling and separating from the walls The shower heads OMG the shower heads was just to much for me.. like if I needed to bring my shower head from home as well they could of just said that! lol but no seriously I was so sad taking a "quick" shower it gave me jail flashbacks! I could of came off another star if it wasn't like that. We didn't get much beach time in because it was pretty windy our entire stay and the current in the water was not playing lol Soooo our 3rd day was everyone's else's last day at the cottage so we end up getting our last day all to ourselves, and is being the nosey individuals that we are after they cleaned the rooms we asked if we could check out the other cottages, when I tell you I was sick that 2 of the other ones had real shower heads and better TVs we deemed 1,7,11 the best cottages to stay in (they have 11 total) We stayed in 4 and 6. The actual beach is a few minutes up the road and it's much more space with sand and the water was more calm to let the kids play in I believe it's called Lakeport state park Overall, would I go back? Maybe .. I wouldn't jump on the opportunity I would also only stay in one of those 3 cottages for a better experience.

I don't understand the negative reviews. Sure it's rustic but has everything you need. We stayed in…read moreMay just me & hubby. We had the entire place to ourselves. All the other cabins were vacant (pre-season). I spent almost the entire weekend on the very comfortable screened in porch. The hostess was very friendly and hospitable. Will I go back? Absolutely!
