I loved how cute these cottages were, the blue and the way they lead down to the water. The hosts were friendly and it was peaceful at night. We stayed 4 days 3 nights for around $375 total PROS : Fairly spacious 1 Bedroom cottage Kitchenette came fully equipped Doors on cottage locked securely Enclosed Porch Super family friendly with lots of outside activities for kids Movie night 2 days a week Walmart and Gas station right up the street Each cottage had a bbq grill (dirty) but they all had one CONS : Super narrow when driving down hill to unload your things into the cottage so turning around can be challenging (especially with the "no driving on grass" signs. You can unload but you have to park in the lot at the top of the hill and walk back down Wifi was not working well so your basically without service most of the time Lots of BEES The bed was really uncomfortable so we slept on the futon in the living room The heat didn't really work so at night and I'm the early morning it would be freezing. Like throw a hoodie on cold They tell you to bring your own sheets and towels But the blanket that's offered is mad thin so I wish I would of brought my own A few of the dishes were dirty and had to be rewashed before use The tv in my auntie cottage couldn't have been bigger then 20inch (my desktop monitor is bigger) mines was a little bigger then hers which she didn't understand because we paid the same amount for our separate cottages Bonfire pit was right off the water, so it was super windy, cold, and water kept splashing us while we were trying to get it lit The furniture in the cabins was pretty outdated not "rustic" ..outdated The cottages need face lifts which is obvious the paint in my bedroom what bubbling and separating from the walls The shower heads OMG the shower heads was just to much for me.. like if I needed to bring my shower head from home as well they could of just said that! lol but no seriously I was so sad taking a "quick" shower it gave me jail flashbacks! I could of came off another star if it wasn't like that. We didn't get much beach time in because it was pretty windy our entire stay and the current in the water was not playing lol Soooo our 3rd day was everyone's else's last day at the cottage so we end up getting our last day all to ourselves, and is being the nosey individuals that we are after they cleaned the rooms we asked if we could check out the other cottages, when I tell you I was sick that 2 of the other ones had real shower heads and better TVs we deemed 1,7,11 the best cottages to stay in (they have 11 total) We stayed in 4 and 6. The actual beach is a few minutes up the road and it's much more space with sand and the water was more calm to let the kids play in I believe it's called Lakeport state park Overall, would I go back? Maybe .. I wouldn't jump on the opportunity I would also only stay in one of those 3 cottages for a better experience. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews. Sure it's rustic but has everything you need. We stayed in May just me & hubby. We had the entire place to ourselves. All the other cabins were vacant (pre-season). I spent almost the entire weekend on the very comfortable screened in porch. The hostess was very friendly and hospitable. Will I go back? Absolutely! I have been twice and this place is amazing!! We typically bring a large group and rent multiple cabins with lots of kids. This place is perfect for families! The cabins are rustic, but have all the necessities that one needs for a great vacation! The owners are always very nice and accommodating. read more

My mother in law rented a 2-bedroom and a 1-bedroom cottage for a family weekend in Lexington. I had no idea what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The cabins are so cute and well kept and clean. The play equipment and games right outside the cabins were perfect to keep our little ones occupied. Our kids had a blast making new friends to play with all weekend. They had a small game room where the kids could play board games and even a couple of old arcade games. The beach was clean and we had a fun day of swimming. Saturday night they offered a big movie screen for an outdoor movie night. The owners and staff were very friendly. Where do i start , Luskys lakefront cottages in the 1970's I am sure where a 4 star resort but now its 2013 and the web site looks much better on paper than in real life , the cabins are clean but very out dated. this was my first time at these cottages , I have to say the owners are not very business or friendly, the family that I went with had been going to almost 13 years when i had arrived 3 days later then my group items had happened that upset them and i witness that they were being treated with no respect ,1st cabins had issue with plumbling parking ect example I was sitting at fire sunday night with a group of people when a man walked up and voiced loudly "if your not staying in cabins your cars will be towed" I actually thought it was a joke, i thought to myself that was very rude coming from an adult to other adults, i later i found out it was john. Aka the owner, i can now see why my group was very upset the way they there were treated during there family vacation , on a positive note the resort is great for small children they have lots play equipment for small children to keep them busy, I understand the resort has been up for sale for many years maybe that's why the owners don't care how they treat there guest, if you would like to here more about theses cottages please feel free ask more questions bottom line I would never return to these cottages, there are so many places on the same road that I am sure you would be treated with respect and have a better vacation with your family First time guest last time visitor! We are on our way home after staying a weekend at Luskys in Lexington. We were celebrating our parent's, who have raised 13 kids, 50th anniversary. They wanted a weekend away with all their kids and grandkids. We looked into several places in MI and Luskys was the only one we are able to find that would allow us to rent the entire resort exclusively for less than a week. The owners were so accommodating. Our group was approx 50 people aged 1-74 years. Babies, toddlers, school aged, pre-teen, teen, young adults, parents and grandparents... And not a single one of us were bored even once. There was so much for EVERYONE today. Games, playing piano, basketball, volleyball, swimming, ping pong, shuffle board, play sets, swings,Bon fire, oh my! In addition we brought some yard games and gloves and balls but there was so much provided we never used them! We did bring and use horseshoes. And one of us enjoyed metal detecting. I believe you can also fish. We did bring a projector and hung a sheet between the cabins, set up a canopy tent, laid out a blanket and the kids LOVED movies at night while the adults enjoyed adult card games and the bonfire. It was truely magical. The cottages are true cottages that take you back in time. They are rustic with modern conveniences. They serve their purpose, a place to drop and sleep after a long day of play! They, are extremely clean and well kept. Bring your suit and water toys (rafts, tubes and bogie boo areas) the water is a blast! Our teens and young adults loved it. Don't forget life jackets for the littles. The rules are clearly posted on the website and in the cabins, as well as articulated at booking. I've read the one negative view and can assure you it is clearly someone who was taking advantage of the owners and other paying guests and didn't like it when it was no longer allowed. If you want to resort for your group exclusively, obviously you have to pay for it, but it is well worth It! read more

This is my favorite place to be over the summer! Lexington has been a part of my family since before I was born but sadly, our own cottage fell into disrepair over the years. I was so happy to find this place - the cabins are clean, cozy, and reminiscent of what an up north cottage should be - from the appliances to the variety of dishes! It just feels like home and the owners have been exceptionally welcoming every time we come, year after year! I am so grateful that this place exists. Even my sweet young son, who has autism, gets a smile on his face and asks to "go cabin?" whenever we mention the place. I strive to go as often as I can and I would not change a thing - this place is perfect for families :) read more

This was our first time at Lusky's and we were very pleased. I liked that they are very family friendly. They have a lot of things for the kids to do. The beach is nice and a stones throw away from our cabin #8. The hosts were VERY accommodating to our needs. I thought the cabins needed a little updating on the decor, but that wasn't a big deal. We were looking for a cheap, last-minute, beach-front getaway for our family of four, and were pleasantly pleased that we found Luskys and Lexington, Michigan. First, if you are looking for luxury and the prices to go with it, look elsewhere. Luskys Cottages are rustic but clean (read: cottages need updating but who cares - way less work than camping!), and give you all the basics at a reasonable price - exactly what we wanted! The beach, albeit small, was great for the little kids, but there were plenty of larger stretches of beach a short drive away. We absolutely LOVED the town of Lexington too! read more

Wow! What an awesome place. We just booked our cabins for probably the 15th year in a row! We've been going here so long, it feels like our own personal vacation spot. Highly recommend. They are so friendly and willing to meet your needs. The beach is awesome if you have little kids; they can play in the sand and splash in the water without wandering too far. They also have a ton of playground equipment on the grass so kids can play right outside the cabins if they don't want to head down the beach quite yet. Bonfire pit is so beautiful at night - for kids and adults alike. Sometimes you'll get lucky and see the full moon casting a glow across the lake and it's just breathtaking! Lusky's is a great place for all families to enjoy a relaxing few days during the summer without having to completely break the bank! :) read more

My sister and I have vacationed at Lusky's for 13 years. The accommodations are small but they are definitely better then camping. We have enjoyed it and our children who are teenagers now had so much fun enjoying family that they kept wanting to go back. All that changed during the week of Aug. 2nd to the 7th of 2013. There are rules to be followed about guests, and we did for a couple years have extra family come and enjoy a day of food and a camp fire at night. We are not a rowdy family. John the owner did not complain so I guess we took it for granted he thought we were good. But on Aug. 4th 2013 when a few family members came he turned on us in a way that was almost evil. Remember we have been coming for 13 years and 16 thousand or more dollars later. John (the owner) treated us with such disrespect we were floored by his actions, he talked to us like we were dirt. My family members with babies and small children were told to leave now or their cars will be towed. He hounded my sister and I all night. Stood at door ways peering at us, it was almost frighting. We were going to leave but we paid for the week so we stuck it out because there are no refunds. I failed to say we did have 5 cabins at one point too. Then on Aug. 6th things went bad again. They have always had trouble with their septic, which we did not complain about. On the 6th my sisters toilet over flowed with feces pouring onto the bathroom floor. We went to John, he came down and did his thing with the septic. He then came inside and asked my sister if we went to Golden Coral for dinner because there was so much crap in the pipe. We were totally disgusted by his remark. He then put towels down on the floor that had feces on it which smelled like hell and told my sister to pick them up when she leaves. He did not offer a different cabin or anything. We left Lusky's with sad hearts. John (the owner) definitely needs to get some people skills.They are trying to sell the place I hope they do soon because he is a miserable person who never smiles or seems to enjoy what he has. After another great week at Lusky's Lakefront Cottages, I felt compelled to write this review. My family and I have been coming to Lusky's for the past 14 years, renting three cabins for an entire week each summer. From the time my children were small, I felt that this was the best, safest, most family-friendly beach resort on this side of Michigan! Upon arrival, our cabins have always been clean and, at times, John & Kristen have had them ready earlier than posted check-in times. Although the cabins have a rustic feel, we were pleasantly surprised a few years ago when we discovered that our living and dining area had updated furniture and the bathroom sink had been replaced as well. John & Kristen have always been EXTREMELY accommodating, especially when the kids were smaller and ran to the Yum-Yum Shop every five minutes. As the years went on, and our kids got older, we continued to vacation at Lusky's year after year based on the great customer service and personal attention we've always received. Whether it be the 10th Yum-Yum Shop visit of the day, needing to rent inner tubes, buy firewood, ask for extra blankets, or for the use of their vacuum, John & Kristen have never let us down. I never once felt that we were bothering them. They responded to every request with a smile and positive attitude.
