The salad was loaded with nuts and cheese and the tenderloin was cooked perfectly. The salad had so much "stuff" in it that you could hardly even tell that there were any greens under it all. I also loved the dressing. The service was meh. There wasn't anything they did wrong, but for a higher end golf course I would have expected things to be a little more polished. I felt like I was at a Swiss Chalet for the level of service I received.

Once in the summer and once in October. The place is maintained well, no real rushy rushy marshalls and a beautiful easy spot to get to for those from Calgary or Bragg Creek. Greens are in good condition, interesting tee shots on a few holes. Fees are standard.

The place is light an astro-turf amusement park, the place was full today, and why shouldn't it be, the weather is getting warmer and pretty soon people will be out on the green, so why not practise until those whitey whites melt away. For those of you wanting to get into the sport, NGA provides classes; just check the new spring schedule, but courses from $80 a lesson to $700 for 10. It was just a refreshing change to be in a pseudo like immobile heidenberg. I don't have the patience or the skill to even attempt this; my golfing skills are challenged enough on a mini golf range let alone this colossal monster. Check NGA out to improve the Tiger in you.

A few months ago, I enrolled in their Adult weeknight beginner program which is a 5-part class that's an hour each designed for adults who have no experience playing golf or for those who want to improve their basic skills. I wasn't excited about my first class as I am totally uncoordinated and know that I'll probably just humiliate myself but that all changed after my first class. Everyone at the reception area was so friendly and chill that I immediately felt at ease in an unfamiliar environment. Our teacher was Brad and he's amazing. I love how he's good at explaining and pointing out what small changes you can make to improve your swing and his recommendations always make my swing better. When the dome wasn't busy, he also extended our classes just so he could really focus on each student and address our concerns. He also helped us out in picking our clubs and pointed out why certain clubs will work or won't work for us. For a beginner, I appreciated that they have a good variety of clubs that I can borrow for free so I didn't have to spend any extra cash on clubs I'm not so sure are any good. They have your regular driving range, a putting area, several different types of simulators that can be used for group activities and video recording devices that can help in analyzing how you can further improve your swing.

The light display has really expanded over the years and is a good amount of walking around with your family. At one of the gates there's a no dogs sign but there were quite a few dogs wandering around on leashes the other night. Maybe it's not a big deal in the winter. For parking I suggest going on the east side of 14th street along Confederation Park. There was tons of space there compared to across the street on the west side of 14th.

It attracts people from all over and is a lot more spectacular than the Zoo Lights and the best part is that it's free. You can see some of it from 14th St. NW, but the whole thing is worth stopping for. Kids are tobogganing, people are walking around laughing, it's a great display. If you see it this winter on your way to or from downtown, stop in and take the kids.....

Prior to this visit I hadn't played on a golf course for around 3 years, so I was a bit apprehensive about my first return game. I'm a capable golfer; usually I can get a bogey here and there, maybe even a par, but then there are holes where everything goes wrong and I max out my strokes to 10+... Not a big deal with the right group, but it can pretty nerve racking when you're surrounded by other people on the course who are seemingly judging you and getting annoyed by your lack of skill. With that in mind I was a bit nervous for my return game. Upon checking in at the counter for our Tee time the lady working the cashier ensured us that it was a very beginner friendly course and if people don't like that, then they shouldn't be golfing here. Music to my ears :). We were paired with a senior couple and we set off. Sure enough it was a very beginner friendly course! The first 3 holes are their longer par 4 holes, and the remaining 6 are par 3s. There are no sand traps or water traps (unless you really hammer it out of bounds on a couple holes, you may end up in the reservoir lol) and minimal sloping. The trees also did a good job stopping the ball from going too far out of bounds most of the time, although on one hole I proved it possible to make it onto the fairway of an adjacent hole lol :D. I've golfed 7 or 8 different courses (mostly around Lethbridge where I grew up) and this was by far the easiest and most basic I've played. The greens are pretty flat and are a bit slow, but overall they looked well maintained as was the rest of the course. This course was definitely better maintained than at least one of the other courses I've played. As another reviewer mentioned, they do have power lines that are pretty prevalent on a couple holes with an audible humming. You do get some solid views on the reservoir on a couple holes and near the club house though! The couple we were paired with were definitely of beginner level as well, so it made for a highly enjoyable experience as we all played on a level playing field free on judgement and full on fun :). The course is very walkable, we opted for no cart and still did it in under 2 hours. You could do it in under 1.5 hours with the right group. I recommend booking ahead of time rather than trying to walk-in, they were quite busy! There's also a phone and online booking system. Their green fees were extremely affordable: $23 on weekend, $21 on weekdays, you can also rent clubs for $7 if you don't have your own! There is a putting green near the club house, no chipping green or driving range. Also cash and credit only, no credit! Overall great course all around for beginners, I'll definitely golf here again! Don't expect to use your driver much, you can probably get away with playing this entire course with a 3 wood, pitching wedge and a putter quite reasonably. Especially on the latter half I was able to primarily use my pitching wedge and putter. So if you're not a fan of the short game and like some additional course challenges this course may not be for you, but if you like a casual paced game that's free of judgement then it's a solid course!

Other than that, it's a great course. Being a newer golfer I enjoy this course, 4 of us can do it in under 2 hours. The holes are relatively short, so you can get a couple good shots in, and it's easy to improve or try different shots etc. The greens are well maintained, the offer power carts and are very reasonably priced. For the hubs and I to golf with a power cart is around $50. If you are a newer golfer, looking for a fun course or just a quick round, I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

It's definitely an old building, could use some renos, but it's pretty cool to see! They do extensive indoor training here. Quite a few golf simulators as well. You pay by how long you hit balls. So if you're fast, you will get a better bang for your buck. We had a beer, hit some balls, worked on our swing...nice outing (need to remember this place in the winter!). Just needs a bit of an overhaul. Oh! And really nice guy running the front!

I can sum up my review by saying "Worst course I've ever played"…read more We had not played here since the new owners had taken over but we had played here numerous times when it was Boulder Creek. On their webpage they write about new owners taking over, having "purchased the course in 2020" and were "making significant investments to improve everything! Yes, everything!". We looked at recent reviews which were only two kinds of reviews 1) "This is the best course I have ever played" (I later found that these people are either friends, paid for advertisement, or have never played another course). Or 2) "This is the worst course I have ever played". Didn't really tell us much so we decided to give it a try. With the claims that their "TURF is getting the love and care it deserves. Regrowth is underway" we figured we might be in for a treat and this was a possible hidden gem. In this case I'm not sure how a golf course can be purchased and the new owners/staff can make the course significantly worse than it was previously. Regarding course conditions, when taking a shot there was four possibilities of the lie you would be hitting from your next shot. These four conditions are: 1) Dirt/Mud 2) Weeds/Clover 3) Crab/Torpedo Grass 4) Agricultural Crops You could find most of these conditions anywhere on the course including tee boxes and greens. There was little to no golf course grass anywhere on the entire course as the only grass was located in front of the club house, which shows where the owner's/team's priority is. The only way to fix course conditions like this is to remove and replace the top 6 inches of dirt and re-seed the entire course. On the second par 3 of the course, I accidentally took a massive divot out of the teebox. I went over to the cart, grabbed a bottle of sand to repair it. The bottom fell off the sand bottle and sand went everywhere. Having a second bottle on the cart, I grabbed that one, with the exact same results. Which staff member thought it would be funny to pull a prank like this? This is about the same maturity as unscrewing the top of a salt shaker at a restaurant. On the same turf related issues, the greens looked like a combination of the 4 previous conditions, but I don't think a ball mark had been repaired on the greens... Ever. The bunkers were dirt/mud, with a ¼" layer of sandbox sand, and a smattering or 1 inch stones all through it. I opted to play them all as ground under repair hazards. None of them were raked or maintained at all as there were no rakes anywhere near the bunkers. I could count the rakes I saw throughout the day on one hand. Was this "bring your own rake" to the golf course day and I just didn't get the memo when I booked our tee time? No distance markers or signage anywhere on the course, everything was a guess. No sprinkler head markings, no teebox signs, no teebox markings. The only thing was the score card. I lost more balls than I care to admit, but when you lose most of them in the middle of the "fairway" (If you could even call it that) it's even more frustrating that putting them all in the water. We saw a single landscape crew member pull onto the fairway in their cart just as we were walking onto the tee box and just sit about 200 yards off the tee in the middle of the "fairway". Despite us hollering, or waiting a significant number of minutes while other groups piled up behind us, they just sat there on their phone, completely unaware of anything else. I finally just hit my shot. Luckily I was nowhere near this person. But I guess the sound of a golf ball rippling through the air above them at 150mph+ was enough to wake this individual up as they quickly removed their cart from such a dangerous area. I appreciate the new-ish carts, but why overcharge for a single rider? Do any other courses do this? But when both of the carts were sputtering and stalling all day, or having a hard time getting up the few hills on the course, maybe it's time to invest in a mechanic? Or a discount? The one thing I don't understand is not seeing a marshall all day, a starter that didn't seem to know anything about the rules of the game or any rules unique to this course, or landscape crews with zero self-preservation. I guess I'm not really surprised the way the day went. What I have to say to the owners: I think it's great to have new owners take up these ventures instead of large corporations that care little for the people, and I'd love to support you, but maybe it's not the time to "shake up the golf industry" or do "away with tradition & norms" or look at the "course with a new lens... to create something unique". Especially not for something that is proven to have worked for the better part of the last 100 years.
