A list of things that would have been more emotionally fulfilling and practically useful than the…read more$300 I spent to make an appointment with Dr. Calzada: -- 300 jars of dried oregano from the dollar store -- all 20 seasons of the original Law & Order series on DVD -- giving $1 to 300 panhandlers or $5 to 60 panhandlers or $300 to one very lucky panhandler -- two Design Toscano Bigfoot Garden Statues, Large 28 Inch, Polyresin, Full Color via Amazon dot com I chose Dr. Calzada because I needed to get back on my ADHD medication and his clinic charged $300 out-of-pocket instead of the $400-500 other psychiatrists were charging. This was possibly the single most regrettable mistake I have ever made in my life, and I am a person who once dated a guy into competitive yoyoing. Within fifteen minutes of meeting me, Dr. Calzada had not only ignored everything I had to say but also diagnosed me with borderline (I exhibit no traits of borderline), declared that my depression was a result of the "negative self-image" I'd cultivated due to my parents' "negative treatment of me as a young child" (not true), diagnosed my FATHER with depression and borderline (????), and told me a 20-minute story about an anorexic girl who couldn't recognize that she wasn't overweight and subsequently died (an uplifting, optimistic tale that greatly boosted my spirits). Literally the only reason I didn't get up and leave was because I needed my prescriptions; I spent the entire hour with a fake grin plastered on my face, smiling and nodding and just waiting for the minute hand to tick over until I could finally leave. "He's not going to be your therapist," I told myself internally, grappling with the idea of continuing to see him for medication management, "so you don't actually need to have a rapport with him," but considering I felt more in-tune with a psychiatrist from years ago whose intake paperwork included the question "are you homosexual" (gotta love in-network providers) I could barely imagine myself coming back and subjecting myself to another few months of this. I can't give this practice zero stars, but I suppose they do deserve one star: an appointment was made by the office staff, the chairs were comfortable, I was offered water, and Dr. Calzada did end up writing my prescriptions -- at least, for a medication I couldn't possibly afford. When I reached out to the office to help me fill out some paperwork for a patient assistance program, I learned it would be another $100 for them to help me fill out the paperwork (which I needed because, you know, I couldn't afford my medication). I have not contacted the practice since and, thankfully, neither have they contacted me. If I had a time machine, I'd go back and tell myself to fork out the extra $100-200 to see another psychiatrist. ANY other psychiatrist. Or I'd just buy two of those Bigfoot sculptures and set them on either side of my desk, spurred into productivity by the look of intensity in their twin hand-painted resin-cast visages.

Excellent psychiatrist with a practicing therapist background. Attentive, patient, and supportive…read moreof finding the best approach with your treatment. If you value a doctor who has a quick response time, works with your schedule to ensure you get an appointment and doesn't rush you in and out - he's definitely your guy. I highly suggest giving him a try!

Ok, I didn't really want to write a review for a psychiatrist on Yelp, but she absolutely does not…read moredeserve 2 stars. I've seen 3 different psychiatrists, including her. All they have to do is ask how the medicine is working. If things are going well, they can just prescribe more and that's the end of the session. If things aren't going well, they can make other suggestions and prescribe other meds. Dr. Rickenbacker always asked me how things were going, how my job was, etc. She actually cared about my life outside of the medicine she was prescribing. She was also always up to date on the latest research and had me trying out the latest medicines. She was actually a bit creative in that regard and could recommend things that weren't necessarily what every other psychiatrist was prescribing. In the end, her knowledge and her ability to think outside the box is what found a medicine that worked for me. I always scheduled my next appointment with her after my session was over, so I usually didn't have any problems, but I do remember her being hard to schedule with if I had to cancel. She does frequently run over her session times, but I always made sure to schedule plenty of time off work to see her, so it never interfered with anything for me. On days she was running late, I never felt like she rushed through my session to try to catch up. I realize these are big drawbacks, but she is really worth it. The only reason I don't see her anymore is because she no longer takes my insurance.

Over the past eight days I have made multiple requests to schedule an appointment with this doctor…read morewhom my insurance company recommended; two attempts online (new patient form) and two by phone. I have yet to recieve a call back. Followup (03/26): I did recieve a call after sixteen business days however, their services were no longer required. UPDATE!!! Five years later now. My new insurance has strong armed me into leaving my current physician. I decided to give Denae a second chance, given her close proximity to my office. Nearly the same issues again! It was difficult to reach someone, although easier than in 2012. They are currently only accepting new patients by referral which seems odd. I tried to play the game, having my doctor fax over Denae's required form which feels more like an application/screening. After numerous attempts, Denae's office denied receiving the form. My very generous current physician even made multiple attempts to call her office but could not get through to a live person. It appears the poor client service is a cornerstone for Denae's practice.

I'm shocked at the low reviews. I have been going to this practice for at least 15 years. I feel…read morethe need to write my review. I did meet Dr. Musgrove only once or twice and have been assigned to Julie Williams, an NP. I absolutely love her and she is great and has been helpful and listens to me about concerns of medications if I have them. The staff has been pretty good too. Currently, Lisa and I didn't catch the other lady's name but they are both professional, friendly, helpful and patient. That is just over the phone. We will see today. Bottom line, very different reviews from either high or low. I have to disagree with the low ones. However, we don't know people's experience's or even if there might be justified reasons for actions that took place from the practice. Always two sides to every story. I have had both good and bad with different doctors or NP's, and front office staff. I would recommend this practice and particularly, Julie Williams!

I was a patient here for over 10 years and I dropped by this place because I hadn't gone in a little while because I was dealing with pre and post cancer treatment. I can get letters in the mail claiming I will be dropped and when I call to schedule appointments, I'm left to the voicemail and with no returned calls. They never called me, just letters threatening me. The only shining gem I had was with Julie Williams but aside from her, this place was pathetic. I was annoyed that I got dropped until my Oncologist's office showed me what a professional healthcare team is. And for certain, CTMH is not that. I would steer clear and find a place that will actually give a second thought about you.
