I go to day spas with the knowledge that the service is much more involved than that of a lash bar, nail salon or massage parlor. With that knowledge, the prices and minimum standards I have are much higher. The not-so-good: When you first enter the building, it's nice but in my opinion a little too chaotic. It's been my experience that the reception area usually flows very well. My first visit, I walked in and there were several people waiting in line to pay. I browsed around the entrance and they have several things for sale, lotions, hair stuff and whatnot. It was a little odd to me that there were two or three stands displaying products that were kind of in the middle of nowhere. It seemed like things were located upstairs. I wasn't greeted (again, the front desk person was helping other people) but I just decided to go upstairs where there is another area to check-in for spa services. The good: 1. When I went in to the upstairs spa check-in area, the environment completely changed into something more relaxing. 2. The lounge is equipped with snacks and drinks with a TV on mute. 3. The shower area is also pretty nice. The system is pretty typical, get changed, climb into a robe, leave your belongings in the locker. Two changing rooms are available 4. There is a steam room which was great and also two over-sized showers with MorocconOil products (side note, I love that styling cream, I'm probably going to be a Kerastase convert) 5. For after care there is spray deodorant, a blow dryer, some hair products, hair elastics. The only think missing was brushes/combs (many places have two containers, one for clean and one for used brushes/combs) Miscellaneous tips: Beyond that the location is good, it's very easy to find. I must have picked a perfect time to go because I had absolutely no difficulties finding parking. The parking lot was actually pretty empty. It's probably a good idea to get there early so you can use the steam room and take your time getting ready. I would say at absolute minimum, you should probably arrive 15 minutes early. After my body-treatment, I took my time getting ready so I ended up being there for about 2 hours, half the time I was in the lounge and it was relaxing. The overall experience was good and I would most definitely return in the future to try out more of their services.

This club is great, if you don't ever plan on moving. If you might move at some point, read on…read more What a nightmare trying to cancel my membership after I moved to a location that didn't have a facility. For clarity, I signed up in Abbotsford, moved to Kingston, ON which has a club, but then moved to Calgary, AB which doesn't have a club. It has been months of being given the run around, and having my cancellation letter and emails to Abbotsford ignored. Despite the Kingston staff saying I had to cancel through my "home" club, Abbotsford decided I needed to cancel through Kingston. Which I would have done but Kingston wouldn't process it. Even after I sent the sent registered mail on my dime as requested, the company continued to take 4 months of dues from my bank account. This is because Abbotsford ignored my registered letter instead of doing the "reasonable" thing and looking into it or passing it along to Kingston. Further, the staff members at both clubs were horrible to deal with, saying this was on me, neither of them ever apologizing for the confusion. In fact, they refused to refund me the dues they took after I sent in my cancellation letter, and said they were doing me a favour by cancelling my membership over the phone, which is against their policy. What a disgusting attitude to take with me when I was doing what the Kingston staff told me to do.

2369 McCallum Rd, Abbotsford, BC V2S 3N7…read more I am frustrated, sick, and tired of dealing with this issue. In October 2019, I badly damaged my ankle and was on a hospital bed in my living room until February 2020 because I was not allowed any weight-bearing. I contacted you and asked that my membership be canceled. This was not done. Then as of March 2020, we faced COVID-19, and again I was unable to take advantage of my membership. I was under the belief that my membership had been canceled per my request in October 2019. Since that time, I have frequently contacted the club in Abbotsford asking for the membership to be canceled and for a refund of all dues charged to me since October 2019. I am a 70-year-old senior on a limited income and cannot ford $30/month PLUS an annual fee for something that I can no longer do. It makes no sense. Living alone, as an immune-compromised person, I am allowed 2 people in my bubble. My groceries are delivered. My medication is delivered. My specialist appointments are via video chat or telephone call. Yet, you require me to come in person to cancel my membership... or to go out to a post office to send you a registered letter. You will not accept an email that would have a handwritten signature. No concession has been made for members to cancel in any other manner due to the unprecedented COVID-19 restrictions. This is absolutely ridiculous! Other businesses have gone out of their way to accommodate their clients and perpetuate positive customer relations. I realize times are hard for local businesses due to the restrictions, but if you depend on my money to keep you going, you should not be in business at all. The last time I called, I was told I could not speak to the manager, but a hold was placed on my membership. This month, again, I have been charged. Your members sign in with their keys to access the gym. Please review my activity since October 2019 and you will see that I have not been in attendance. Please cancel my membership, refund all you have taken from me and confirm this has been done. I understand that legally you can continue to charge my membership until I die. However, I would hope you have morals and integrity. Thank you, Caroline Davis.

She checked in with management at the time, and I was given an email address and directed to send an email to another department. I did exactly that, but the response I received was generic and unhelpful. It left me feeling unseen and brushed aside. A manager later mentioned that she had initially offered me 4 weeks off, but that I had never accepted the offer. Which seemed odd...since you don't need someone's permission to give someone something free or to do something kind. Second, I personally have no solid recollection of such an offering. Definitely feels like something I would have remembered and would have accepted. But to be honest, when she offered it to me again later on, it just felt like a slap in the face at that point, considering all the other issues present with GoodLife. Not to mention...I needed assistance FAR greater than just a month, which felt like another slap in the face (essentially offering someone a bandaid for a gushing canon-ball wound...Oh 4 weeks...Thanks, i guess?). Not long after (3-4 weeks later), I noticed that GoodLife hired four new staff members -- a reminder that while resources were available for expansion, there was apparently nothing substantial to offer a loyal member going through a difficult time. It stung. They also knew that I was unemployed, but failed to extend a helpful offering of employment (or even give me a heads up that they were hiring, so I could apply the normal route, like everyone else). That stung even more. Nonetheless, I still chose to stay positive. A couple months go by and I decided to share with management a number of thoughtful ideas to help improve the facility, including specific areas that could have used a quick clean (nothing major by any means, but still noticeable). I was told thank you, and that they'd look into those dirty areas. Anddd...another month goes by...anddd, those same dirty spots remain untouched to this day. Pffff, wild. Don't lie to me, and tell me, " we will address the cleanliness concerns you have brought to our attention." ...then not do anything. Lastly...having recently restarted my new social media presence on instagram, I decided I would tag GoodLife.Abbotsford, hoping it would be reshared on their Instagram Story...but nope. No acknowledgment, no thank you, no reshare... just the same three people they reshare on the social media every day. (One photo I tagged them in might have been deemed spicy, so I can understand that one not being shared for safety, but otherwise...all the countless others were not...they were just being cruel and dishing out more neglect and reject). At this point, I've been stretched thin again -- financially, mentally, and emotionally. Club 16 is right across the street, offering a VIP membership that's half the cost of GoodLife's, and it includes amenities GoodLife doesn't have (including infrared sauna, red light therapy, hydro massage, etc.). So I have to ask myself -- what exactly is holding me back from switching? Loyalty can only go so far when it isn't met with any compassion, gratitude, or basic follow-through. At this point...I'm made to feel like GoodLife doesn't truly care about its members...they're just numbers. Ps, despite us just being numbers to them, they at the same time oddly don't care about financial numbers or profitability...cause they also tend to be over-staffed during the day, yet despite being overstaffed...oddly hard to find sometimes when a member needs something. Labour costs must be through the roof. Pps, ...and...their IN-HOUSE cleaner is spiritually toxic, comes at you during a new moon and latches onto your spirit, or tries to give you bad advice or in-still fear in you (likely why he went from working 5 days a week to 2...he's very inefficient)

After the weekend I went back with the intent of just paying the monthly fee, not accepting the free month for a direct debit deal. Best (first) rafting experience ever! You don't get a first ever again, am I right? So why not…read moretreat yourself right to some glamping as well. WHAT IS GLAMPING? I'm embarrassed to say that my parents knew before I did. Glamour + camping, just imagine all the hassle of camping from when you were younger--hauling the tent, eating spam by the fire, potty breaks behind the trees--gone. I know what you are thinking, "WEAK. THAT'S NOT CAMPING!." Well if you are just going to stay at some shoddy hotel 30 minutes away instead, might as well live by the river at this resort in some fancy tents with restrooms + showers and dining hall meals. My parents and I did the rafting + 1 night glamping package. It'll cost you quite a chunk of your wallet at around 300 CAD each. If you aren't the biggest fan of camping, it might not seem worth it at first, but this place definitely did come around to me. You can either do the afternoon rafting option, where you come early afternoon, raft, and then stay the night; or you can come in the late afternoon, stay the night, and raft in the morning. We chose the latter. We checked in around 5pm, got shown to our tent (ours was conveniently, or unfortunately, located right next to the bathrooms), and settled down on the rocking chairs overlooking the river. Dinner was served at 7pm. There's an open dining hall area, and the patrons as well as the staff both eat here. The food is cafeteria style, as in there are huge trays of food brought out and they serve everyone first so that there is enough food to go around. You can then go serve yourself after. The food isn't fancy, but it also isn't bad. Another necessity served at the dining hall area are outlets! Since the tents don't have any outlets, you'll have to bring your phone chargers here. Oh, there is wifi throughout the whole resort too. They know we all can't live without these things. The showers are located farther away from the tents, up a small flight of stairs. The water is nice and hot though, and they keep the shower rooms fairly clean. Towels and bath mats are provided, but shampoo/soap and other toiletries aren't. So make sure you bring those from home! There's also a hot tub area right next to the campfire area, which is right next to the yoga area, which is right next to the dining halls. You get the idea. We didn't chill around the campfire that night, but we saw some people roasting smores. Classic. Lights go out at 10pm, but they do give you a small lantern for light. You can hear the river rushing right outside, drowning out any other noise like one of those "nature soothing sounds" some people put on at night to help them sleep. Knocked me out fairly quick. Breakfast was at 8:30 am. Bright and early. Our rafting guide, Dylan, introduced himself to us then. Spoiler: having a great, experienced guide is important. Rafting was at 9:30. We wetsuited up, lifejackets on, helmets tightened, booties on our feet. They took us on a bus down along the old logging road that runs by the Nahatlatch River. Our group was a bit special because it was just us 3 patrons since I guess another group didn't make it. Usually they bring 6-7 people in each raft. That just meant more room on the raft. Dylan taught us all some important commands like holding on to the rope and crouching down in the raft. We practiced this out in a lake area, and then we were off on some rapids. I was slightly frightened after seeing a trainee fall out of another raft. For better or for worse, I treated every command from then on almost as if my life depended on it. I definitely did not want to fall out along some of these rapids with rocks and branches in the water. The second stretch, Dylan said was a grade 4 (and optional), which meant it was a bit more difficult. We ended up opting out of that, and hopped onto the bus to the stretch after. Dylan said something about a rapid called the Meat Grinder. No thanks. They had snacks waiting for us at that point, which I thought was a nice touch. And after our snack break it was back into the water. The rest of the river all the way back to the resort was about 11km long. After the initial shock was over, and after getting a hang of the commands and trusting Dylan as he guided us between rocks and telling us to hold on before bigger falls, the rest of the river was quite the experience. Drenched and battered by the river, we made it through some real breathtaking views and felt a visceral power of the rushing water. The whole experience was about 3 hours long. The hot tub felt amazing right after. After lunch and an easy checkout, we were on our way back to Vancouver. Without a doubt, Reo is definitely a great place for beginner rafters!
