Highly recommend this quaint spa- the employees were super kind and the facilities are really clean and relaxing. They have super comfortable full body massage chairs that you can fall asleep in (even my dad enjoyed them and he's not a huge spa person). My partner and I also ended up doing one of the private sound bath experiences and it was incredible. Our therapist made it feel very relaxing and it is one of the most unique experiences I've had- they lay you on an instrument bed and you get to feel all the vibrations. I coordinated a spa day for my sister-in-law's bridal shower, and was looking for a local spa that could provide a a few healing experiences in a relaxing, clean environment. We'd heard great things about Flow Motion's Himalayan salt and amethyst caves and were excited to check them out. I researched several options in the area and decided on Flow Motion because of their unique space and offerings. I chose their spa pass from 1-4 pm on a Saturday for a group of eight. This allowed us to freely wander their two beautiful caves, infrared sauna, zero gravity massage chair lounge, library/relaxation area with aromatherapy and tea, and parlor for three hours. We added on an hour-long group sound healing from 4-5. This entire afternoon was absolutely incredible. The group had such a good time exploring the healing spaces, and the sound healing was amazing. We left feeling revitalized, nourished, and deeply relaxed. I slept great that night, too! Beyond the wonderful spa day itself, the owner Alyssa and Client Concierge Abby went above and beyond to make this bridal shower experience incredibly special, tailored to our group's needs, and excellent from beginning to end. I really appreciated the attention to detail, care, and intentionality their team put into making all aspects of our spa day lovely and stress-free. Don't let the outside of this historic building fool you! Once inside, you're transported to a peaceful, healing oasis, filled with a variety of "zen'ed out" spaces and thoughtful touches. The parlor is also a beautiful place for a meal. Alyssa and Abby helped me find just the right food options for our group (beautiful charcuterie trays, salads, and a couple desserts!). I love the Himalayan salt cave at Flow Motion. I always fall asleep when I go in. I wake up feeling so relaxed. This salt cave is other worldly especially if you have a lot of stress in your daily life. I also love the Himalayan salt sauna, truly an amazing experience! The prices are very fair! If you purchase a spa pass you get three hours of your choice of what they offer in this space, including zero gravity massage chairs. I never knew these existed until i came here. Just wow! Recently went for a spa day with a friend. We chose a three hour spa pass without massage. The infrared sauna was wonderful. However one of the guests we were sharing it with didn't use a spa towel and chose to lay right on the bench. Icky and not cool. The massage chairs were pre-programmed and both the speed and pressure were both way too intense. Ended up being really sore after using them, but not in a good way. The Himalayan salt cave room was ok, but the music was really loud and distracting, and the zero gravity chairs turned out to be lawn chairs which were a little worse for the wear. The amethyst cave smelled mildly of mold and the water feature was very loud - dripping water on plastic, not at all relaxing. The one and only restroom is not located in the spa, but in a shared space down the hall. The staff were very friendly and kind, but unfortunately they didn't make up for the mediocre experience. read more

I honestly love the story behind this experience so much. I was visiting Bham for work and every time I travel anywhere new I look for anything amethyst. It is a favorite of mine ever since experiencing an amethyst chair/cave in the Seattle area. I found Flow Motion on Yelp, then on Instagram and was immediately obsessed. I cannot believe how inexpensive the all inclusive pass is! The owner is the absolute sweetest and communicates so effectively. I came with a lot of questions after messaging my coworker and asking her to join me and we booked the 3 hour pass. The second you walk in you are welcomed in the most serene of ways and it is so blissful. The space is heaven, and it is sacred. The Himalayan salt room is an immediate rush of good ness and the amethyst cave is filled with all the best vibes and a birch water creation. The owner also did all this herself and with her team, but it is genuinely the most beautiful space and there was so much love poured into it when it was being created. The full body massage chairs are where it was at for me. I am not big on real massages for some reason but this pure moment to yourself is absolutely serene. From the beginning, we stood in a huge sound bowl and it was gonged and all of the tension for that moment was just released and everything just wasn't so heavy for the time being. Then we went into the cave and the salt room. Then I braved the sauna and that was also so healing. I bought a spa robe, I cleansed with essential oils, I did breathwork. I read a little bit, drank spa water and ate oranges. And I got on a plane completely blissed out after. This spot holds a special place in my heart. read more

My wife and I treated each other to a spa day here on Valentines. We found an extremely clean, friendly spa with so many amenities! The largest sauna I have ever been in: again, immaculately clean, and pre-heated so the first half hour of our reservation was not wasted. Also a comfortable, easy to use massage chair with practically unlimited time :) Next was a (for me) energizing amethyst cave (huge crystals) with quiet binaural instrumental music. Then a genuine pink salt cave with room on the floor to play, or several pool chairs to just lie back and relax. We also loved the tea room with antique furniture and a view of old downtown Ferndale. There were other amenities we didn't even have enough time for, during our 3-hour appointment. All in all, we will be back. The staff welcomed us outside to ensure they knew our names and that we knew where to place our shoes prior to entering. There are lockers for your stuff, and also a nice gift shop. Next time we would like to schedule time with a masseuse and have even more to enjoy. Really creative re-purposing of their space in the old Carnation building. read more

I booked a massage because I was feeling stressed from being a new mom. Unfortunately my baby got sick the day before my appointment and I had to take him to the doctor. My doctor only had one opening so I had to reschedule my massage 24 hours ahead of time so I could make the appointment for my baby. When I called, Flowmotion was rude, unsupportive and wouldn't reschedule my massage, even when I told them my baby had a fever and I was worried about it. They even heard my baby crying on the phone and yet they only said "they had a policy of 48 hours and had to stick with it." When I asked what they did with people who had illnesses (and I also offered to come in any other time) they wouldn't help at all, only kept rudely repeating that "this is the policy" and charged my credit card full price anyway. When I looked on their website, they had tons of availability for that week so it didn't seem to be a booking issue. Wow, I was shocked. I wouldn't want to come in there now anyway since they clearly actively discourage people from staying home when they are sick. It makes me worried about their cleanliness and spreading illness! Now I know why they have so much availability!! read more

I can't say enough good things about Flow Motion. I am beyond thankful that I found this studio, that is so much more than a place to do yoga, just a few weeks after moving to Ferndale. I lived in Seattle and was doing yoga there for over 10 years and went to lots of studios, but Flow Motion was the first place I've felt like I'm part of a community. Basically, as a full-time working mother with two little ones, Flow Motion is sanity for my soul. I can do a yoga class, sit in a massage chair, get my laptop to do a little work, and then do a session in the infrared sauna - all in the same day! The membership pricing is totally reasonable with unlimited yoga classes and workshops, access to the relaxation lounge, sessions in the infrared sauna, and free essential oil classes - what more could you want? And now there is a year subscription that saves you a whole month of dues! Alyssa, who owns the studio, is amazing! She added infrared heaters and a second yoga room last year and it is amazing! The heat is gentle but effective. She is constantly making improvements and thinking of more ways she can give back to the studio and Ferndale communities. It's really just the best! I just moved to the area and was hunting out some massage and a yoga studio. Flow Motion can do that and more. Everyone talks about that third space but Alyssa, the owner, really makes you welcome here, and not just during class. Imagine if you had a well connected celebrity friend with a big house and personal trainers and she invited you to her house to enjoy the perks.....that's what it feels like....and who doesn't want that? There is a relaxation lounge where you can hang out and enjoy tea or coffee and several heated massage chairs or huge foam bag chair. This is for all to enjoy at your leisure. There is a fireplace and a reading library, foot soaks...the list of amenities goes on... If that is not enough to find your bliss, there is a private state of the art massage chair experience by the hour and !!my favorite! the infrared sauna!! I cannot say enough about the infrared sauna! I spent over a month moving and on the road driving from out of state and my arms were killing me and I was hunting for massage. I spent one session in that sauna and the pain is gone! I also have some arthritis in my knee, also pain gone. Its miraculous. On to the practical...I went to Tara's yoga class on Friday am and it was excellent. She truly impressed me. If you are looking for a yoga and spa home, this is truly a hidden gem. They have a couple of studio rooms, the relaxation lounge, the therapy areas for other modalities and classroom for essential oil etc etc. There are no contracts here and you can punch card (as I have) or do a membership and Alyssa recognizes me when I come in, so I don't actually sign in or carry a card. Because this is a welcoming place. The price is so modest for everything offered and the truly beautiful surroundings Alyssa has created that you will thank me for tipping you off. Just don't tell Too many friends...I don't want to get crowded out. ;) But do check it out. You won't be sorry. Its in a stealthy location on the top floor of a rather industrial building...look for the sandwich sign in the drive but the building is before the overpass. Just walk up the stairs above their sign and open the door. The signage is a little confusing but just go for it and you will be rewarded with a truly wonderful experience. :) read more

I enjoy it and it's especially nice to get warm when it's cold and dreary outside. (It's nothing like yoga-jail AKA a Bikram yoga studio, lol). Flow Motion is a truly unique health and wellness studio. It offers yoga, massage, salt therapy, infrared sauna, and more. The lounge is very well designed and includes tea, magazines, and a relaxed vibe. Alyssa, the owner, is very welcoming and makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. I participated in 3 salt therapies in the salt cave. I suffer from dust mite allergies and constantly battle sinus infections when I catch colds. I was hoping the salt cave would help alleviate some of my symptoms. I couldn't tell much of a difference after the salt therapy, but that could also be because this time of year I don't get as stuffy as I do in the fall/winter. I will likely try another session in the fall to see if that makes a difference. Overall the experience was very pleasant and relaxing. It was great to be able to take the time for myself and get centered in the beauty of the salt cave. read more
