This brewery is definitely worth a visit while in Oaxaca. It's up a slight incline from the central area. The interior is quaint, dark and cozy, with a nice bar (no seat backs), some standard tables and a couple of high tops. Everyone was friendly. Nice spot to grab a drink or two and mingle with friends. There's a TV by the bar area as well if you want to go solo. I got the tepache sour after hearing about this drink from someone at my hotel. It's good and I recommend if you like tepache. I love tepache and have tried it in every form while in Oaxaca. They also serve food as well if you are hungry. read more

Visited from US. Was hoping to get a t-shirt but only had caps, which we purchased. Hazy and West Coast IPA were very good and very similar. Was hoping for the dark lager but they did not have. Ambiance is very nice. Beer tender spoke English which was very helpful. Had carne Asada taco that was very good. Hubby had fish taco and it was equally as good. 2nd round of beer was Calabaza Red and Equinox pale. Both very good. read more

a friend recommend that my fiancé and I check out this spot while we were in oaxaca and I am so glad we did!!! They have a few beers on tap which were delicious. I had the Juan C(something forgot the rest of the name) and the hazy IPA. Both were delicious and not bitter. What we also really enjoyed was the food! the tirado de atún was our fav! It was raw tuna with ponzu sauce and jalapeños and ginger. They serve it with fresh sourdough bread with olive oil. We also had the bbq sliders which I didn't get to take a picture of but where super yummy as well. They came with avocado and were served with potato chips. The tuna taco was also good. It is served on a blue corn tortilla and a full layer of cheese is put on top of the tortilla before the tuna is added. It's topped with picked red onion. During the one week we spent in Oaxaca, we came here three times! Good beer, and very delicious tacos. Baja tacos and carnitas were favorites. They have a small menu which I prefer, so food is fresh and expertly made. Skip the sliders and go for the tacos you won't regret it! Very neighborly service too. read more

This is hands down the best beer in Oaxaca. I hail from Seattle in the U.S., and although I am positively smitten with Oaxaca, the one thing I have been unable to find was good craft beer. The bottled beers are meh, the other craft breweries are okay, but this one is over the top. This place is really about the passion for brewing. Creative and surprising brews, extremely friendly staff engaged in impassioned discourse about the nuances of Cascade vs. Mt Hood hops with other local artisans, and a clean and simple tasting room just like we would have in the great PNW. No need to distract you from what is truly important. To top it off, they are trying their hand at growing classic PNW hop varieties (with admittedly limited success, so far) right here in Oaxaca to bring genuine fresh hop IPAs to Oaxaca. Órale. If you're the kind of person who read this and it didn't sound like gobbledygook, then this is the place for you. Bring your growler and tell your friends. read more

Hidden gem here in Oaxaca. Came from NYC and found it in about a month of having to deal with "nothing special" beers in stores and cafes alike. Amazing place, would recommend to anyone. This is the best beer we have found in all of Mexico as it reminds us of SoCal/West Coast beer! While sitting at the bar, we got to chat it up with one of the owners, turns out they spent some time in San Diego and Baja so that they understood West Coast Beer. Coming from Portland Oregon we have high standards for beer and after trying their pale ale and IPA, honestly they are world class. If you are in the area and looking for solid beer, stop in and you will be so happy you did. Simply put, this is amazing beer!!! I'm visiting Oaxaca from the SF Bay Area and love my hoppy and interesting brews (we have a lot where I hail from), and the beer at Oaxaca Brewing is top notch. I found one of their IPAs at a local restaurant and was blown away! I had to check out the taproom the following day, and it did not disappoint. Super friendly owners who clearly have put a lot of passion into their product, and it really shows - super high quality brews similar to what you would find in other beer centric areas around the world. If you like good beer and are sick of drinking watery lager in Oaxaca, you have to check this place out. I wish them continued success, and really hope they ultimately get some distribution in California and beyond!! read more

Very good beer to start with. Not a big selection, but clearly dedicated to their art and offered up three very fine beers on the day I visited. Biggest minus is that I only discovered it in my last day in Oaxaca! Enjoyed talking with the owners and with the clientele. Spanish and English speakers alike. Oaxaca is definitely a mezcal town, but being a corn fed Midwesterner, I get a craving for a nice beer in hot weather. This city gets warm. My wife and I found this tap room. They had 6 beers on tap when we went. All six would hold their own in the Great Lakes region. They had a stout, a sour, a hazy IPA, a rye, a red ale and kellerbier. Pretty diverse offerings and they were all strong offerings. If you want to have something without mezcal while you are in town check this place out. The staff are very friendly and encourage their customers to meet and talk with one another. I think this place is going to be popular and get if the owners decide they want that. Oaxaca is definitely catching on to the craft brewing scene and this wonderful brew pub is outstanding. They make an incredible breakfast stout with local chocolate, coffee and other ingredients that I don't remember. I also really enjoyed their sour. Some folks turn up their noses and don't have a taste for sour beers but this one hits just the right notes. Tangy but doesn't feel like you sucked on a lemon. Just refreshingly tart and perfect for a warm day. I also enjoyed their two different IPAs. Not too hoppy - just right. Staff was super helpful and so friendly. Go there. OBC has very good beer. I was skeptical when I first stumbled into the place and looked Marco straight in the eye and told him of my skepticism. But after serving me a nice colored IPA (I'm a hopeless hophead) I was duly impressed. So, the beer is good. But that isn't the best thing about OBC. It is one of the best pubs on the planet. It is almost impossible to walk into this place to have a beer without leaving and having made a friend. Their specialty is camaraderie, not loud piped in music. Conversations are easy and flowing. You will meet people from all over the Americas and the world. About half the customers are from Mexico and the entire staff is bilingual, so a Spanish language-challenged guy like myself gets to learn from the staff and patrons what's really happening in Mexico. I was in Oaxaca for a month and I was at the OBC pretty much every night they were open. It was my home away from home. I'm going back to Oaxaca soon, and much of the reason is the Oaxaca Brewing Company. And PS, Marco has the friendliest and most genuine smile in Oaxaca. read more
