It was more than just seeing the beautiful Rookery Building. It was very interesting to learn about the historical significance of the building and the architects involved with its design. Our tour guide, Jennifer, was excellent and her passion about the topic was clear. The tour is well-worth the time, and you are taken to see the Oriel Staircase and the Burnham Library at the upper levels.

They recommend making a reservation through the app so you can book the time you'd like to visit. Once we were in we went through the experience where we got to see exhibits and take fun pictures throughout. From there we took the elevator to the 103 floor to see the sky deck. The views of the city are super beautiful and of course we have to get our fun photos from the ledge!

While a 90-second time limit makes sense on a packed day, on a slow day with only 10-20 people in line and 4 decks available, they should easily extend it. Instead, they cram multiple groups into one deck--forcing our party of four adults to share tight space with two strangers--and strictly require everyone to enter simultaneously. By the time you get settled and overcome any nerves, your 90 seconds are already up. We would have rated our experience much higher, but an employee soured the end of our visit. When we politely asked him to take a photo, he rudely and repeatedly barked that he would only do so if we left immediately afterward, even though we had timed our visit and were barely over the limit. Great attraction, but better customer service and flexibility are desperately needed.

The sky deck is now more organized and time limited/regulated than it was originally a free for all. Make sure to spring for the VIP skip the line passes and you go right up with no wait in the long lines, you even enter a separate VIP only elevator without any crowds or anyone else even. In the lobby the food is so damn good. Get the shrimp tacos at Tortazo best shrimp tacos ever!

Plus it's free to visit. We brought our kids to it for the first time, and it was a joy to see them interact with it. I had never thought about lying on the ground, under it as far as you can fit, to pretend it's squishing you. This is a must see attraction and worth the drive. I turned the corner and there were lots of people standing in front of the house taking pics. I met a few people from other cities and even even other countries. This was just a dream come true to stand in front of the famous Home Alone House.
