This theater is fine. I'm a bit biased towards the one closer to my place that has newer seats and an imax screen but this one has a nice retro charm. It's hidden away inside a semi kind of shopping mall? The escalators were broken so it took a maze of elevator and going to the wrong place to find it. Super SUPER cool theater and great prices (if you go on Tuesday). Love that the box office is on one of the upper levels, and you have to keep going up the ramp to get to the theaters! Never seen a movie in a place like that before and it's pretty unique. Saw a movie there last Tuesday with family. We signed up for the membership and go tickets for about $7 each which is pretty good. There's a lot more space that I was expecting in each theater, and our movie was packed. Definitely going to consider getting tickets online next time so we can get better seats. I recommend this spot if you live in the area and want to see a movie!! read more

It has been a very long time since I've been to a movie theater. With a desire to support local businesses, we headed to neighborhood Landmark Theater. Little did I know we were in for such a treat. There's a nice lounge area, full service bar in addition to the standard concession stand. I thought I had reviewed this little gem a long time ago, but apparently not ... so here goes. This theater is located in the Century Mall ... a place that has seen better days and has suffered with the same problems other malls face ... declining trends because of online shopping. Be that as it may, the theater part of this complex is nice. It is situated in a busy area where Broadway diverges from Clark ... and as such, most of the real shopping is on those streets. The Century Mall is essentially just a theater now. They have spiffed up the interior a bit, so that they also offer food and liquor now ... a nice addition. They seem to have first run films, so as a theater it is still hanging on to business in the neighborhood. The fact that the multi-level parking lot next door is attached is a benefit ... you can visit, park, and get to a movie without going outside in the weather. Seats are nice and plushy, but not the faux leather recliners you find at some of the more modern places. If you are looking for a neighborhood movie house, this should be on your list. read more

Inside the world's loneliest mall is a terrific movie theater with 7 screens, showing a great mixture of first-run Hollywood stuff along with artier, weirder stuff. Generally good crowds, too. Great option for the area. read more

Don't expect to be able to park in the parking garage for Landmark Theater in the evenings because the spaces are taken by USPS vans at the end of the workday. The garage ran out of tickets to dispense at the gate and people couldn't leave out gate without calling security. What a disaster! read more

My local theater. It's grandiose facade makes it easy to spot. They have ample auditoriums so you can always catch a feature. It's also usually the location for many premiers, Art house films and film festivals. It's a great spot in a busy neighborhood packed with restaurants all up and down Clark and Broadway too. But honestly you don't have to go that far for a night out either there's plenty of fun activities in the building and a pretty nice lounge and bar located in the theater. read more

Parking can be challenging in the city, so I hadn't been to Century Mall in years. It used to be bustling with many great stores that I loved, and now sadly, it's a ghost town with retail shops struggling to stay open. Yet this theatre remains, on the 4th floor, and a large group of us went the other night for the Barbie opening. I was surprised that the refreshments were actually reasonably priced (compared to the suburbs where I live.) Between $6-8 for hot dogs, popcorn and drinks. The theatre doesn't have a bad seat unless you're all the way up front, and it's easy in and out. I'm glad I went and would go back as I hear they show a lot of independent films that can have limited showings. read more

Surprisingly, where we live in West Lakeview is kind of a movie theater desert. There's the new Alamo drafthouse I'd like to check out, and there are a few spots that show smaller or indie films. Landmark Century used to be one of those too, but I guess with the pandemic and Marvel still going strong they gave in to the masses. And uhhhh count me in as part of the masses. I basically come here with my friend to watch Marvel movies on Tuesdays when tickets are $7 - now that I have a baby it's kind of hard to watch blockbusters on their premiere anyway. It's not too far from the Brown line nor the 77 bus which work well for getting me there and home. They have a full bar and all the usual movie snacks, but it's close to a number of good restaurants that I like filling up at beforehand - Bluebird and 5411 empanadas are on the same street. Like many theaters these days reserved seating is the norm, which I appreciate. Overall there's nothing too extravagant to speak of, but it's still a fine place to watch movies. Will see if Alamo is a strong competitor though... read more

I had to leave after 30 minutes because the theater was very cold. The other 10 or so people there all had their coats and hats on during the screening. Do they believe they could get away with this because there was only a limited audience? If you want to bring back the theater experience, then have it comfortable for them. If you can't afford the heat, then close down until summer. This is the last time I'll attend this theater. You're not helping to bring back the theater experience. On the contrary, poor management and stupid decisions seem to be how you work. read more

Felt like a hidden gem. I was looking for any theater besides AMC and this was a good one.

This movie theater sits in lonely splendor among the empty storefronts that once made the bustling Century Mall. In fact, it's almost the last business there. You won't have any problem finding the place, on the 4th level. I'm a movie buff, have been since my teenage years when I lived in the wilds of Northwest Indiana and watched every old, classic movie that WTTW ran. And they ran a lot. For years in Chicago, we had the Fine Arts Theaters downtown that ran a lot of indie and foreign films. Now that's gone, too. Happily, the Century Cinema still runs smaller films. Oh yeah, you can also see all the boring, cookie cutter Marvel films, and watch two or three hours of shootings, car chases, and murder. I suppose they supplement the smaller audiences that "Living" or "The Quiet Girl" or "Showing Up" draw. Fine and dandy. As long as I can still see something original in the special atmosphere of a movie theater, I don't mind the floor shaking a bit when the movie next door is blowing things up real good. So, thanks Century Cinema, for running the movies I want to see, even if they don't draw huge crowds. That's why I come here. And yeah, you can watch lots of these films on streaming services, from the comfort of your lazy boy. But the atmosphere of the theater, sitting in the dark, sharing the experience with strangers who want to see that particular film as badly as you do, is still special. The Century also has a bar area with lots of seating. It looks nice and comfortable. I haven't used that -- at least, not yet. Neither do I get fountain drinks or popcorn. The thing I do appreciate, though, is that the ladies' rooms are always clean, and are well-supplied with soap and towels. Frequently, the person who takes the tickets is a movie buff, and we chat for a few minutes about the film. It's nice that at least a few real film geeks work here. Keep showing those little indie and foreign films, Century Cinema, and I'll keep giving you my money so I can sit in the dark with strangers and enjoy the old-fashioned movie experience. read more

This place is weird. Proper weird. Good weird. It's as if a pandemic has swept through the city, perhaps the entire world, like a magic broom. Its bristles have only removed certain kinds of particles according to a secret, AI-powered filter. It left behind a landscape of empty shopfronts or meticulously calculated, fail-proof restaurant group concepts that no matter how gilded or conceptually complex still have the tang of inauthenticity, machine-ishness. And this place. A temple-like facade hides a Bladderunner-esque birdless aviary with steampunk accents, like the caged yellow elevators gliding up and down the center. Immaculately clean, staff that always passes the vibe-check, and a willingness to platform art house films that might not break the box office but also might showcase some of the best of risky human creativity. read more

Probably one of my consistently favorite movie theatres! It's always clean and has a good selection of indie movies and award winners. They have vegan cookies! These cookies are great and giant! Their utensils have changed to wooden ones and they have fancier toppings for the food you buy. I definitely get a modern and updated feel from the usually movie theatre concession stand. Their bar has a good selection of snacks and you can still bring the food into the theatre while watching your movie! I'd recommend their sliders because they offer a veggie one and their meat sliders are wagyu beef! How fancy! Now if only they adopt recliners like other movie theatres have and this place would be perfect but it's still pretty awesome! read more

Had a really pleasant experience at this theater! You don't get all the flashy, luxurious feeling amenities as you may at places like AMC, the ticket prices are about the same and the theater is equally as comfortable, but what you lose is a little bit of cleanliness (you'll notice it in the bathrooms) but what you gain is less crowded movie nights on the weekends and really, really well priced drinks from the bar! We got 2 drinks for less than 10 dollars that we were able to bring back with us to watch the Batman! It's a full bar and has ample seating so even if you want to skip a movie and just get a cheap beer this is a great place to be. The building itself is a little spooky at night because a lot of the property is unleased so the floors between the ground level and the theater are empty and vacant. However the elevators make you feel like your in Star Trek with the way they are designed! Lastly, they need a medium popcorn bucket. You either get a itty bitty small or a large that will send you home feeling sick LOL read more

A great theater in a beautiful historic building, which presents both first run movies and indie films not showing elsewhere. The lower floors of this space are taken up by retail, and the theater is on the 4th floor, where the box office, popcorn and other treats and a full bar are also located. The seats may not be as cushy as in some of the newer theaters, but I was comfortable through a 2 hour movie. The Clark number 22 bus stops very close by. read more

They play a lot of movies that most other theatres won't play, that's the good thing. I worked here during CIFF 2007 when this theatre still showed CIFF films. Since I was festival staff and not theatre staff, I don't know all the ins and outs of how the theatre runs, but in all that time nothing has really changed. The seats are fairly comfy, though kind of slouchy. The incline to the back isn't that severe so you'll get the top of someone's head if they're not short. The sound quality is just okay. I think on my last visit the tech didn't have the volume turned up enough. They do tend to play more artsy or limited run films, so that's the big plus this place has going for it. Nothing spectacular, but nothing glaringly negative. read more

This theater shows a lot of Indie movies that you will not find in the bigger movie theaters. This movie theater is on the 4th floor inside the old Century shopping mall, yes I do remember the century shopping mall. Prices are decent and they recently upgraded their seats. We go here for a lot of movie screenings especially the offbeat ones that you won't find in the general theaters. I have never experienced a crowded movie at this theater when purchasing a regular ticket. Parking is non-existent streetwise, but they do have a parking garage where if you get your ticket validated by the cashier at the bar you only have to pay $5 which is a bargain considering how hard it is to find parking in the area. read more

This theater is in an area where there are no other movie theaters. It shows many independent movies that you will not see anywhere else. It is located in the old Century shopping mall on the fourth floor. You get a sense of nostalgia and intimacy when you step off the elevator ontp the 4th floor. Within the last couple of years they opened a full bar so you can enjoy a drink before or after your movie. Their stadium seating gives you a clear view of the movie anywhere that you sit and the legroom is adequate enough to be comfortable for the average sized person. The attached parking garage for $5 with validation from the bar register is reasonable for the area. I enjoy coming to this Theatre especially with all the options around it to continue my night out after the movie. read more

I've gotten so spoiled by recliner seat theaters that coming here last night to see Avengers made me feel out of my element! With that said, it's a decent theater, though a little bit different than the 'big-box' theaters I'm used to. Because it's in a mall (multiple stories), the setup is a little weird. When I got there it took me a minute to figure out how to 'exchange' my email ticket for a printed one (there are kiosks, but theyr'e off to the side). They had a line set up for Avengers shows, which kind of snaked through the middle of the concession area but worked out okay. Concessions are your normal popcorn/coke, with nachos/mozzie sticks/etc. They also sell beer and wine, and have a full bar. The bartender even had a 'secret menu' of drinks tied to Avengers character; Captain America was delicious! :P We were in a traditional-seat theater, although the seats do 'rock' back a bit (but not recline). The seats are really close together, so if you have to get up it's a pain because there's no room to walk. As a short person, I also thought the seats were pretty tall, and I was thankful that no one ended up sitting in front of me because if they had I might have had difficulty seeing everything. Overall, if you're looking for a non big-box theater, this might be a good experience for you. read more

Rosa J. may not be a die-heart Star Wars fan, but she's a loving wife and wanted to accompany her hubby for the SW early premier. Therefore, I went on searching for a quality, "affordable" cinema in the city. Please note that a-modifier was double quotation-marked because you really get what you pay for. While the movie theaters in the loop or Near North Side neighborhoods would feature something more high-end and luxurious, Landmark Century Centre Cinema was a great choice for us since it's still in the "hip" area (on Clark, near the Broadway/Diversey junction) and isn't unreasonably expensive ($12.50/person). Of course, we pre-paid for our tickets on their official website and picked up the tickets at the kiosk. Either the confirmation e-mail or the debit/credit card used to purchased was required. The entire process was beyond easy. One of the cinema staff members informed us that it was alright to bring food or beverages from the CVS downstairs. They wouldn't confiscate the outside food like some other movie theaters would. Otherwise, you're welcome to purchase over-priced cinema junk food from the concession stand. I noticed many SW fans were waiting at the bar by the concession stand. There's a plenty of establishments to go to if you've got time to kill, such as shopping at T.J. maxx on Broadway, Akira and Urban Outfitters on Diversey. There's a plethora of restaurants, bars, and cheap eats. You will find a ton of them with your trusty Yelp app. The seating was quite comfortable. The chair was able to recline to a certain degree. I was worried about the indoor temperature, yet it wasn't at all an issue for me. I had a cotton-bland denim shirt with an acrylic sweater and I didn't see the need to remove the layer. The washrooms were clean and well-stocked. Hence, I've got no complaints. Landmark Century Centre Cinema is accessible via CTA #22 (Clark), #36 (Broadway), and #76 (Diversey) buses. read more

Just the facts. Regular anytime admission $11 bucks. Matinee price is $8.50 M-F before 5 pm Student price is $9.00 bucks M-F only. Validated parking $5 and you get 4 hours of time. It's a good spot to watch those Foreign flicks and Indie films you've read or watched documentaries about. Concession items are pricey, but what do you expect in this foo foo atmosphere. They have to pay the bills somehow. I wish they'd use some of that dough to oil the seats in their theaters. A plus is the seats recline. A negative is that when you go for that stretch to give your knees a nice relax you squeak during an integral part of the film. I think every movie I've caught here I've enjoyed. Like.. The Machinist, Pan's Labyrinth, Born into Brothels and just recently Girl with the dragon tattoo. More winner movies here than at the regular theater. I like how the theater sits at the top of this mall like a birds nest centered at the top and on the walk up you walk past it's many arms. read more

I really liked this theater a lot! I went tonight for a movie and it's shot to the top of the list of places I'd like to view pictures. It has a really nice parking garage and it's only $5 to park there with theater validation...so much cheaper then other places in the area. I went for a movie screening so I didn't deal with the actual movie prices but this theater plays indie type flicks which I absolutely love! I remember when this entire complex was HOPPING with stores and a packed food court downstairs. Now only Aveda, LA Fitness and the theater seem to enjoy any real profits. The ramp/escalator set up is interesting, as is the elevators that see out. This time I went to see Green Book. I am so glad they added a bar with seats here. We did not visit on this occasion or get a drink, we just headed to the concession stand and had snacks. They have a membership program here but I do not live close enough to use it. The popcorn was good, not as decadent or 'fake' as the multiplexes (I love both) and they had nice seats with cupholders. Such a responsible audience, not a lot of us to be fair, but no chatting or phone texting. Like Music Box and Siskel, this is one of the most attentive theaters audience for movies in the city! I really want to get out to the Tuesday Midwest Independent Film Fest screenings on the FIRST Tues of every month. I'll check my fellow Yelpers on how that turns out. read more

I have a son in a wheelchair and this theater is very accommodating towards him- we had really good seats when we went to see 'the Incredibles 2' with him and we were able to secure a great seat and have him in his wheelchair and he absolutely loved it so we will definitely be coming back!! read more

Landmark Century Centre Cinema is a great neighborhood theater for the the Indie junkie. Granted the Century Mall have gone through several renovations, however, the theaters have a been a staple. After taking the elevators or the escalators to the lobby, you will be greeted by the lobby attendants which is generally quick and painless. Just know which movie you are seeing and have your payment ready. There are also couple of self kiosk machines available. Just a few steps away is the concession stand. Always quick with your snacks - great customer service. The theaters are actually in great shape. The seats are generally comfortable, every now a then, you may get one that squeaks. At times, you may feel a vibration from the LA Fitness gym, but it's really not that noticeable. There is a notice about a refund within the first 30 minutes. I've never had to ask for a refund. Again, this theater caters to the indie films so you don't see a large group of kids hanging out there and taking up space. I have seen some brilliant films here and some - not to remember. There is plenty of parking attached to the mall. Don't forget, there are a lot of great small independently owned restaurants within walking distance. Overall: Landmark gets the job done and is a neighborhood staple, but there are still improvements that could be had. The good: Always a great selection of non-big-budget films, with a few sprinklings of some blockbusters (say, Star Wars). And, a ton of indie films as well. They have a good selection of snacks and drinks available, including some deluxe items. Service is always friendly. The not-so-good: I've heard they have reclining seats, but I have yet to sit in any. Compared to heavy-hitters like some AMCs, Landmark could use an update. Also I feel like a prune, but their bathrooms have the deplorable old-school hand dryers, which are really annoying. Atmosphere: 7/10 Service: 8/10 Food: 8/10 read more
