My recovery after surgery has been much more difficult, painful, and prolonged than I was led to expect. If you've ever experienced nerve pain, you know how intense and unrelenting it can be, which made the lack of empathy and impersonal treatment by them that much more disappointing. Dr. Sonstein arrived at my hospital room the day after my surgery, to do his first and only post-op visit. In between talking to someone else on his cell phone, he quickly told us that he was very rushed--never a good thing when your job requires precision and care--and that he couldn't stay "more than a minute". He visually examined my incision (no more than a few seconds) and then quickly left the room (all while still on a phone call, obviously distracted). In the full year since my surgery, I have not heard from him, not even once, to ask about my recovery or if the pain meds were working. What a disappointing and shabby way to treat a patient. Clearly, my spinal surgery meant nothing more than a metric to him. Dr. Obedian was somewhat better, although he too was distracted on his cell phone during the first post-op hospital visit, and he too left the room quickly with no chance for a conversation. In my follow-up visits to his office it was clear to me that he was not familiar with my current pain management regime, and he and his PA twice prescribed pain and nerve medication that we had previously ruled out. I can't tell whether the surgery was successful. My lifestyle is still adversely impacted by pain (albeit, less pain than before) and limitations on my daily activities. Perhaps that improvement means that the surgery was as good as they had hoped for (or maybe even better), or perhaps it was substandard. I simply don't know.

I think I had to wait maybe 5 minutes. Nothing major at all. His bedside manor is great. He's easy to talk to. He listens to me and truly seems to care about my concerns. He explained things to me in a way that was very easy to understand during my consultation. Today, during my epidural, he was great at keeping me calm and talked me through each step of the way. When the procedure was over, I was shocked at how quickly and flawless the entire procedure was. I actually said, "That's it?" Dr. Lee and his team were fantastic! Thank you! Prior to meeting with Dr. Lee, I met with Dr. Koutsoumbelis. I left one orthopedic group on LI to switch to Dr. K who was highly recommended to me by a top PT on Long Island. Dr. K added me to his Friday schedule within an hour of hearing about my case. Since I was a last minute addition to his schedule, I wasn't sure what to expect. Not once did I feel rushed during our appointment. He has a great bedside manor. He had me laughing during one of the most stressful days of my life. He was truly optimistic and therefore I felt optimistic. He connected with me (he skis and I snowboard) and even took time to tell me about mountains I should check out when I'm in Colorado this April. It's rare to be able to connect with a doctor. They usually want you in and out of their office ASAP. That wasn't my experience with Dr. K and Dr. Lee for that matter. He's progressive and smart. He instantly put me on a very helpful regimen. I left Dr. K's office feeling hopeful and motivated to get started. Overall, I am very pleased with both Dr. Lee and Dr. K. I am glad that I transitioned from another orthopedic group to Central Orthopedic. I highly recommend both doctors. They make a great team.

They took X-rays and found nothing so I was sent for an MRI which I had done On March 11, 2026. No one in the office was able to confirm whether or not an authorization was needed so my wife and I spent two days coordinating phone calls between the office, insurance company and Wantagh MRI to finally get this straightened out. This begins a world of frustration with this practice. I retuned for my follow up visit March 12, 2026, only to find that that was no concrete issue as to why I am experiencing the pain in my wrist so Dr. Lippe suggested a follow-up visit with the hand specialist and suggested that he call in an Rx for an anti-inflammatory to help me get some immediate relief. When I followed up with my CVS pharmacy Thursday afternoon I was told there was no Rx called in. After several phone calls with the office and being told that they would get back to, it is now Friday, March 13, at 1 PM and still no Rx or relief as I sit here in pain. My wife just called again and was told - "Yes we see the message and will get back to you" now 24 hours later. This was my first time at this practice and I would never return again not for a hand specialist or any doctor for that matter. I have been to many Doctors in my time and never experience such non- compassion or complete incompetence.
