I was a patient of Dr Rose in 2002.....I had broken/dislocated my left ankle in 2000 & arthritis set in. I went to see Dr Rose & he suggested a fusion of my left ankle which he performed. I am writing this review now because I have been to see 2 other Drs regarding my right foot over the past year & both looked @ my left foot & could not believe my left ankle was fused.....until they saw my Xrays. So if you want a perfect surgery ( he even made sure I could wear 1" heels w/the fusion)......and one that has lasted almost 20 yrs....go see Dr Rose. Amazing and extremely patient. I was in excruciating pain when I arrived to get X-rays taken- literally was screaming and crying from pain as the kind technician tried to take images. Dr. Rose entered the X-ray room and adjusted my leg in a position which I was no longer screaming and the technician was able to take clear images. When he examined my knee he immediately saw them felt the amount of fluid that was causing me grave pain so he provided me with lidocaine first then withdrew 40ccs of blood from my knee! Insane! How has this doctor not been reviewed yet? He patiently listened to my spiel, answered all of my questions, gave me what appeared to be a thorough exam (not a dr; wouldn't know for sure), assuaged my fears, and did not seem surgery-crazed. His front office staff (especially Maxine and Maria) is kind and thoughtful, and went above and beyond to help me. For example, Maria called around to schedule my MRI for me -- I've never seen an office do that. Neither Dr Rose nor his staff made me feel rushed or like a bother. These should not be unusual features in medical services but we all know they are. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this office to friends and family. read more

One time while my husband and I were on vacation traveling back through Mexico, we needed some advice for what was most probably a broken ankle on my husband. The worst staff/office and professional ethics ever. When you first enter the office the staff could care less about your needs. They are too busy eating and chatting with each other to serve the patients. They are rude and obnoxious and lack any personal customer service skills. With so many Dr s to choose from in NYC THE FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF IS WHAT MAKES THE PLACE and this place has the worst by far. The doctor's office did a whole work-up, including x-rays . I was seen by the physician assistant and Dr Rose himself....all before telling me that they don't treat my orthopedic toe condition . An ethical med office would have told me that they don't treat my condition as soon as I filled out their forms...rather than accumulate multiple fees first , and only then sending me away . That's not honest and fair dealing. read more

I never have to wait long which is pretty awesome. Great dr. Very no nonsense and straightforward. I came in with ankle pain and after an xray, found out I had an os trigonum that was acting up. We tried rest, physio, and I changed my pointe shoes and ribbons to one's that wouldn't press on the area and aggravate it more but dr rose and I came to the decision that I would need surgery to finally get rid of the pain once and for all. read more

I found my experience with Dr. Rose to be poor - the rub is that Dr. Rose's practice bills a proportionately higher rate than comparable physicians... and 5 months after I paid the bill, I received notification that they sent my account to collections. My doctor visit, or should I say "physician's assistant visit" felt very impersonal; Dr. Rose showed very little bedside manner. Out of 60 minutes of total time spent in his office (a lot of it spent waiting alone in an examination room), he spent less than 5 minutes combined: speaking with me about my accident, reviewing my chart, looking at my x-ray, explaining my prognosis, and suggesting the kind of corrective surgery he proposed (described in the broadest of details and not appropriate to treat the severity of my injury). He does spend a good part of the 5 minutes he allocated to me with talking about the skiing athlete he treated once-upon-a-time. Unfathomably, when I went in to have a follow-up consultation, and again spent 90% of the visit with the Physicians Assistant, I had to wait 75 minutes to be seen, even though at the time of my arrival (10 minutes early) there was no one in the waiting room. No explanation was given and no apology was offered. I ultimately did not move forward with Dr. Rose as my Orthopaedic surgeon, and instead went to another physician who in my opinion was far more interested in getting me back to good pre-injury health (go to HSS if you can). Overall, not happy. I might have given 2 stars because my condition did not get any worse after seeing Dr. Rose but I gave 1 star because this is healthcare and you are either good at your profession or you're not - I'll leave the 2-star ratings for Uber drivers. read more

I went to this Dr for the first and last time last week. He seemed great but not worth the terrible attitude and rudeness of their office staff. Wow, if only I had recorded the interactions--not just with me--I think the Dr would be horrified at how he is represented. Listen ladies, I'd be bummed to work in a job like yours too, but most of your patients are there because they are in need of help. The least you could do is keep your bad attitude and meanness to yourself. Maybe work in a place where human interaction and some compassion are not job requirements? read more

I am super disappointed with this Dr. Rose and his "knowledge" of sports medicine. HE MISDIAGNOSED ME AND MY RECOVERY WENT FROM 6 WEEKS TO OVER A YEAR. I came to see him last summer due to extreme pain in my left hip, I am a dancer and a yoga instructor. He diagnosed me in less than 5 min with iliopsoas syndrome (tendinitis) in my left hip due to "overuse". I was confused with his diagnostic since I only dance twice a week and take yoga twice a week like any other normal human being. When he spoke to me, he didn't look me in the eye once, was super unfriendly and nonchalant and on top of that, he rushed the entire process. After his short "check up", we went into his office where he gave me a HANDOUT PAPER of what iliopsoas syndrome is and how to recover. And then signaled me out. I had questions so as he was rushing me out, I told him my pain level was at an 8 or 9 and that I take almost 2500mg of ibuprofen a day and am still in pain, should I be taking something else? He brushed me off and goes "ibuprofen is just fine". As I rushed down the hallway, I asked: so what exercises can I do? Can I still dance, can I do yoga? And his response was: "anything that doesn't cause you pain" That is insanely vast. Anyways I completed the physical therapy process that he requested and went back to school so I took it easy on my body for a couple months. As I came back this summer and got back into cardio and other things like dance, my hip started severely hurting me again. As an emergency I went to a city MD and a physical therapist who both told me I have symptoms that align with a tear in my Labrum( the cartilage that surrounds my hip). I had bruising last summer but none this time. Meaning it happened then. How did he miss this? I have no idea: he never asked me if there was bruising, he rushed the entire process and assumed my symptoms were the same as the previous patient. Now I was supposed to work with a dance company over the summer, but I have to go back to PT and potentially get surgery. I cannot workout or dance until we can figure out the severity of my issue, I wish this was handled a year ago.. I hope that he doesn't do this to anyone else, his Ego shadows his own knowledge. I was recommended Dr.Rose from my dance coach. I'm a professional dancer and I dance for the NBA. I torn my acl, had a bucket handle displacement on my lateral meniscus, and a tear on my medial meniscus. He was my second opinion surgeon and I'm glad I decided to follow through with surgery with him. He made me feel safe and provided me with all the knowledge I needed to know and answered all my questions. The staff in the office is amazing. Everyone is super friendly and the wait time is perfect. I'm 5 months post surgery and have a few months left, but I sure Can't wait to get back to dancing!!! I strongly recommend him! read more

The doctor was wonderful and made me to feel very comfortable, however I'm a plus size woman and was made to feel very uncomfortable by some of the staff there. As I was sitting in the waiting area for my ride, a staff member whispered "Why is she still here?" Another staff whispered "She must be waiting for a ride." Then the topic of their conversation out of nowhere regarding overweight people they knew that lost the weight. Remind you there were no prior conversations regarding anything else or leading to this topic. One staff member walked to the entrance where I was sitting in plain view and ended the conversation with "What is this the fat peoples club and left." She then returned with her lunch and all conversations were no more. I'm not certain what that was all about but I felt the conversation was aimed at me in a indirect way being that I was the only plus size woman in the entire office. I just thought it was very insensitive of the staff and if they have a problem with plus size people then working in a medical office is not the appropriate setting for these women. Also, the xray technician was not friendly for he sucked his teeth when I struggled with a certain position. I gave him two stars, due to these experiences, however Dr. Rose himself appears to be a wonderful physician. I will update after future visits. read more

I recently tore my ACL skiing. I had Dr. Rose perform my surgery. He is one of the best doctors/surgeons around! Top Notch! He used a hamstring graft for my reconstruction. From my initial consult to my surgery to my post op, I have received the best care! 7wks out of surgery I have full function back. I will most likely be cleared to return to running at 12wks post op! If you tear you ACL - Dr. Rose is the doctor to fix it and get you back to your life/sports! Also, the staff is warm and friendly - I never had to wait long to see him. 3wks post op, I had a fall and was afraid I damaged my graft, I called the office and was told me to come straight over. I was seen in 5 minutes of walking into the office! I will say the Dr. Rose is very no nonsense and straightforward. Not a lot of coddling. But I would take a fantastic surgeon over bedside manner any day - I get that from my PT. read more

I was referred to Dr. Rose last year when we found out my daughter needed a tibial osteotomy. Getting an appointment was easy, he wasn't rushing her in for the big surgery, in fact, he recommended a smaller surgery to get her out of pain. She opted for the osteotomy to insure her knee would stop dislocating. Surgery went unbelievably well and thanks to Dr. Rose her scarring is minimal. I was forewarned that this surgery leaves very large scars and I was shocked when he removed her bandages at our first post-op visit and saw the small incisions he had made. Follow-up surgery to remove the screw went smoothly as well. This year, Dr. Rose performed the same surgery on my daughter's left knee and again, all went extremely well. I would not think of using any other orthopedic surgeon. Going into NYC can be a hassle but it is well worth it when you see the best! I can't say enough about Dr. Rose. He even wiped my daughters tears in the recovery room after her second surgery. She asked to keep the screw from her first surgery and he explained that it has to be sent to pathology. When he saw her in recovery, he had taken a picture of the screw and emailed it to her. He really is a gifted surgeon who also cares! read more
