I have to say…read morethat I can't compare with other hotels in the area since this was my first time but what i can is list the pros and cons: PROS: - extremely good deal. we paid a package price for room, demipension (breakfast and dinner) and lift tickets for a week. a very good price - the owners are a wonderful family who treated us like friends. - the breakfast buffet and the dinner (salad bar plus 3 courses which you select the night before) were very very good! (except the fondue, which was billed as a special dinner. my advice, stick with Austrian food, it is excellent) - the salad bar is great - 10 or so choices of different fresh or cooked salads, all excellent - last night's dinner had a dessert buffet, which was absolutely great - rooms are simple but comfortable, and most include a balcony with great view - free parking - located at the end of a quiet street, they have a private lake (which unfortunately is drained in winter) - 10 minutes walk to center of kirchberg - ski storage room - owners very helpful with arranging shuttle service, advising on other attractions, etc - exercise room with ping-pong table (watch out, the dutch tourists are ruthless at that) - great communication with the owners during our search for accommodations - via phone and e-mail. booked by giving credit card over the phone - walk to ski shuttle bus or drive to ski school, fleckalmbahn and a few other lifts. free parking at all of them (except in kitzbuhel). when snow is good, ski down almost to the hotel. - free wifi throughout the hotel CONS: - smoking allowed in lobby and bar - filters out to the rest of the hotel - but this being Austria, I can imagine it is the same everywhere - no toiletries are provided - small cathode tube tv - but who comes here to watch tv anyway? - drinks are not included in the package price - i guess they count on a bunch of drunks hanging out late into the night to make some money, which is completely understandable. unfortunately, after skiing 9-5 every day and having beers and schnapps at every stop, we were a 1beer/person group, except when we went drinking elsewhere apres-dinner (a few places around kirchberg are happening and Kitzbuhel's ritzy bars are just a 15 minute drive away) so they didn't make much with us :) highly recommended in Kirchberg/Kitzbuhel. Although Kitz was voted, again, as the best ski resort in the world, after spending some time on the internet we were able to book a ski vacation at half the price (including transatlantic airfare from the US) than in a nice Colorado resort. You can certainly find better slopes in Les Trois Vallees or Whistler but as an overall package (mostly helped by food, pastries and drinking), this can't be beat.

The restaurant has a terrace, so you can eat outside when the weather permits it. Another plus is that the restaurant has its own parking spaces for guests. The service is friendly and attentive. The menus are available in German and English, so even if your German is a little rusty, you can find a meal here. The staff also speaks English, so feel free to use that to your advantage. Dogs are welcome. When you arrive you may be greeted by the black Labrador of the restaurant itself. The restaurant itself offers tables with benches and chairs. When you are there, check out their selection of beers. Next to several types of Stieglitz, they have Guinness as well as an Irish beer. They serve a good Farmer's burger with French fries. The burgers are freshly made using their own recipe. When you're thirsty on a warm day, try out their Spezi!

Our first trip to Austria…read more Klaus & Veronique and their family who own/run this hotel are excellent hosts making you feel very welcome and take a great interest in your holiday. We loved the way they dress in the traditional dress to serve dinner. We paid a supplement for a room with balcony and we were not disappointed. The room was huge, in fact it was a family room so plenty of room for the 2 of us. There was a large bathroom with bath and shower but the shower was only half way up the wall so you couln't stand up in it! The food was excellent too, buffet breakfasts which always included some hot food like bacon and scrambled eggs. You could also make up a packed lunch with the rolls, meats and cheeses, fruit and some wonderful Austrian wafer biscuits. Cartons of juice were provided also. Tea and cakes were served 3 times a week. The evening meals were superb, always a choice, delicious salad bars and I have never tasted broccoli, cauliflower and green beans so good in a sald. The chef has been with the family for over 10 years so that speaks for itself. If "Spatzle" is on the menu, try it. It is Austrian pasta with pan fried onions. The hotel has a cozy lounge area, beautifully furnished where you can mix with other guests. We met some really nice people on this holiday. As we were there the start of the season, Kitzbuhel was a little deserted at night so we just stayed in the hotel most nights. I got a real taste for Weiss beer (wheat beer) from the bar! The hotel also has its own wine cellar and Klaus hosts tours for a wine tasting evening. The hotel is situated less than 5 minutes walk from the centre in a nice quiet area. The railway line runs right next to the hotel and trains so run through the day and night but it never bothered us one bit. Would thoroughly recommend the Edelweiss. We had a fabulous holiday, made new friends, and we have lots of wonderful memories

There is a local ski bus which comes past regularly, or the hotel owner will drive you in his mini bus to the town centre where the lifts are. The bedrooms in this hotel were quite large and very well maintained, they have family rooms that easily sleep four. The food was very good with plenty of choice. The breakfast included hot food as well as the usual continental fare of bread and jam. They were happy to accommodate our party of 15 on one table. I recommend this hotel in Saalbach, look out for Charley the dog who lives in reception!
