I have 3 quilts from this store. The hard part, given the HUGE selection, is deciding what you want.

As of today 10/27/21 this place is closing. The owner passed away and the family is selling off the inventory by the BOLT. No cutting what so ever. Prices are not discounted either. Huge selection if you are in the market for a lot of fabric. Also note that you need an Appointment preferably. They have a large selection of new quilts that are being discounted by 10%. Be advised that the sister running the place is a bit grouchy, I don't blame her as she is dealing with a huge mess! Also, NO CREDIT CARDS! read more

HOLY, HOLY COW you have GOT to visit this "bucket list" quilting shop! OK, I will admit that it doesn't look like a standard quilt shop from the street, but be BRAVE and go inside!! I drove almost 3 hours to visit, and I am so very glad that I did! I have never .... ever ... in my life seen so much fabric in one place!! And although from these pictures it might look terribly disorganized ..... the owner knew EXACTLY where ever single bolt was in that store! I saw shoppers ask her for specific fabrics, and she immediately pulled it. Another shopper also wanted her suggestions for a specific color combination, and again she was able to make about 10 recommendations on the spot. I can only think that she must have a photographic memory! The prices were equivalent to Jo-Ann's .... lots of bolts were $3.99 and $4.99 a yard. She also sells REAL handmade Amish quilts at unbelievable prices such as a twin sized for $299. She also had TONS of panels, "Cheaters Cloth" and border prints. Please help support this local small business quilt shop and give them a great review! It was really worth the trip, but next time I will leave a LOT more time for a visit! read more

I cant believe the fabulous, fabulous selection of fabric in this store. The employee was very gracious and helpful. Will be back very soon. I love the fabric that is food related. I love Obie's! It's stuffed with top quality bolts -many are buried treasures that we can't access. You'll see what I mean. But she knows immediately if she has a specific fabric or not. Incredible selection of novelty. She has fabric no one else has. Leave your purse in the car and bring a flashlight. A headlamp would work best. The aisles are packed tight. Must see it to believe it. I've shopped in dozens of quilt stores all over the US. Obie's is one of my favorite. Call to check hours first some days they close early. read more

I wanted to scream while I was in here! The fabric was stuffed in with the bolt ends facing out so you couldn't see the fabrics. It was very dark. The lady asked to help but I just wanted to look at them myself. Too bad because I'm sure there might have been some nice choices. read more

I was in the area and heard that I absolutely have to try this place for quilt fabric. I was a little hesitant walking in after reading some of the other reviews. Yes - there is fabric piled up all over. Yes - the aisles are full of fabric. But I took a deep breath and marched in. The woman working there could not have been more helpful. I showed her what I was looking for and she immediately walked down the aisle and pulled the fabric I needed. I was thrilled! She told me where to find some of the other fabrics I was looking for and I spent about an hour to an hour and a half enjoying shopping and looking at everything. The prices were fantastic. I would love to come here again. I got some great fabric at very reasonable prices and I can't wait to start sewing. Yes it's overwhelming but so worth it. read more

Lots of fabric and well organized. So crowded it is hard to find anything and not good for anyone with claustrophobia. Very disappointed quilter. read more

This store is GREAT! It may not be as organized as the standard quilt shop, but it's a super fabric store! The owner and her staff are all as helpful as you want them to be. If you want to wonder and look, they are fine with that. If you have a question about a type or color of fabric, they can help with that also. It's definitely my go-to place when I can get to Lancaster Co. There has to be more fabric per sq foot than any other store I've seen in any state. read more

An amazing place! She must have 50,000 bolts in here! Lots of old and discontinued fabrics, lots of kids' and novelty prints, more quilt backing fabrics (108" wide) than you've ever seen in one place in your life. Not for the claustrophobic; you've got to be willing to dig. So worth it! Nan will help you find things and move bolts to get what you want. Go with a list and color scraps, a whole afternoon, and/or a patient husband. This was the find of the century for me. No other place in the country can top Obie's!!! read more
