Ready we moved every 8 to 10 minutes mad to top it all off all he did was go in a big circle so we would think we were moving!! Again ten times and only once caught any decent fish. And before you fall for all the wonderful pictures of catches the crew and their friends caught the fish because they brought their own shrimp on and didn't use the frozen fish we had to. I had an enjoyable day last Saturday out on the ocean in the sunshine and fresh sea air. I am just starting to learn how to deep sea fish and this was my second trip of this type. It was just as good as the first one. The chow was slightly better than the last trip, but this day trip was more expensive. I HAD A GOOD TIME. So here is what it costs: 1 Adult: $118 (Full Day trip from 8AM to 5PM) And here is what you get: Breakfast & Lunch Unlimited Soda Use of a standard Rod & Reel with Tackle Fishing License for the day Free Parking Dead Sardine and Squid Bait provided This boat is smaller than my last trip, so there is a lot more rocking! I did not see many fish caught. It seemed that everyone fed a lot of bait to the fish. The fish are very adept at nibbling and stealing the bait without taking the hook. I did get one good strike and played it for about 20 seconds, but the line snapped and whatever it was took the bait and the hook. I could complain that I did not catch a fish to take home and eat, but I will not. This is called "fishing", not "catching". It is not a sure thing to bring home anything. Big fish don't get big by being stupid! I simply enjoyed my time at sea VERY MUCH. The CREW was EXEMPLARY. VERY PATIENT and EXPERIENCED. They are masters at untangling crossed fishing lines. They also provided valuable information on how to properly handle and secure your hook, as well as how to properly bait the hook. The GALLEY CHEF provided SIMPLE FOOD that was TASTY and SATISFYING. The 2nd time I went with this fishing charter was for the day trip. It was about 4-5 hours long and the sun was pretty strong out. We caught even less fish this time with only a few people catching snapper and amberjack. The crew is nice and friendly but the boat barely catches enough fish for it to be fun. read more

Excited to go on a fishing trip on our very much needed vacation from the cold north, we regretted the whole wasted day of agony. Our smaller original trip was cancelled because of rough seas we found the obsession opened and going out. the capt did say it was rough but fishable...he even gave us an out once on the boat to his credit. Under the impresdion it wasnt too bad we went. Very rough on way out even a deck mate was sick the whole time...after starting yo fish half the people on board were sea sick...me my gf and our two kids were sick...my girlfriend was so sick laid on the boat floor not caring how dirty it may be and cried 4 times in between puking not knowing how she could make it through the whole trip. needless to say we didnt fish. Im still hearing about her dissapointment. the trip should have been cancelled. the crew was very nice and respectful..i believe if good seas it would have been alot of fun. Can't say enough good about the crew and staff! Definitely take the non-seasick stuff before going to enjoy the trip. The trip had about 55 people, so very full and yet, the crew were incessantly helpful, informative and there when the urgent fish need arose. My only suggestion is that they offer non-meat burgers as I do t eat meat. Everyone was quite pleased with the food and after a grilled cheese and salad, I was happy. I also was able to grab one of their large cookies. I actually didn't fish and was only 1 of about 3 who enjoyed the views, sun, watching others have fun and going on top to look out. They booked far too many people on our fishing excursion. The boat had 20 Max posted everywhere, but there were around 50 people, everyone fishing shoulder to shoulder, and far more time was spent untangling everyone's lines than actually having a hook in the water. Only five people caught fish, and the people from the front of the boat didn't stand a chance, they were entangled with everyone else the entire time. Snipped, baited hooks were simply thrown overboard or tossed underfoot in the rush to clear tangled lines. I understand "fishing" isn't always "catching," but it is supposed to mean actually fishing, not boating around trying to find a spot without any water current in the ocean. Thank goodness my kid caught a fish or it would have been an absolute waste of perfect fishing weather. The one thing that redeems it from a one star rating was the galley cook. Everyone agreed that lunch was delicious and he even came out and helped with untangling all the lines and putting on hooks when the rest of the crew couldn't keep up. read more

Oh my goodness! What an experience! My son, my friend and I decided to go on a evening deep sea fishing tour for sharks. I had no idea what to expect. It was more than I could ever have imagined! I think overall we caught about 10 sharks and several other types of fish. The guys Helping us were incredible! They taught us all how to bait hooks and how to fish. My son caught a 6 foot, yes, that is correct a 6 foot shark. They helped the kids catch a shark and paid special attention to a soon to be married couple. We had an absolutely incredible time. I had a great day on the water with Ocean Obsession. The mates were amazeballs. They were fun, polite, and OMG, they work HARD! They helped land fish, unknotted lines, put new hooks/weights on lines, and you rarely had to wait very long for one of them to help you as needed. I noticed how they paid special attention to the kids fishing on the boat, giving them encouragement, making a big deal of the tiniest fish caught, etc. I saw most people throw $20 per person into their tip bucket - I was a solo and gave them $40; they deserved it! There was a guy in the galley was on hand to make us breakfast and lunch, which was included in our fee to fish. He had a wide variety of offerings - eggs however you wanted, breakfast potatoes and a choice of ham, sausage or bacon. For lunch he could do sandwiches, wraps, you name it. Tuna, BLT, hamburgers, etc. Such a nice variety! The galley guy was professional and also wound up helping with quick fishing needs during the "in between breakfast and lunch" time. I also watched him clean the galley when he was done for the day - it was spotless. I also loved that they had unlimited soda available, for free. The prices they had for the "for sale" stuff (beer, snacks, etc.) were reasonable; they don't gouge you just because you're miles form shore. The captain made himself available to help with adding new hooks/weights, getting people unstuck form the bottom, etc. But he also paid attention to how many fish were being caught at any location, and if it wasn't much, we'd move on so we'd have a better chance of catching something. By the end of the day, I had only caught a grunt (too small), a red grouper (out of season) and the bottom (4 times LOL), but I know it's called "fishing" not "catching," and even if I didn't bring home any keepers, I had a GREAT day on the water. read more

What an amazing experience my family had today on the O2. I have full trust in the four gentlemen that we're working the boat. Half way through the trip there was a situation that caused the crew to decide to return to shore early. I respect their decision and applaud them for being compassionate, kind, and dedicated to their customers. My twelve year old daughter had an amazing experience. She caught 3 sharks and 1 blue runner. The crew helped her with successfully reeling these fish in and even educated her of the species. It was nice to see the crew show all the children on the boat different types of fish that were caught and provide them insight as to why some were released. My first deep sea fishing trip! The place isn't the easiest to find, but if you have your GPS or smartphone you should be okay. Ship boarded at 7am with about 30 people. You could easily spot the veterans because they were the people who brought their own coolers of bait, or rods and reels. The ride out was approximately 2 hours. On the way out we spotted a porpoise or two which was cool. The galley (sailor speak for kitchen) takes orders for breakfast on the way out there and that can consist of bacon, egg and cheese, bacon egg and sausage or just two of the above (all served with breakfast potatoes). For lunch burgers, cheeseburgers and BLTS and grilled cheese sandwiches were served with potato chips. There is a fountain drink hose that dispenses coke, sprite and water (plastic cups are provided). Bud, Budlight, Mich Ultra, and Miller Light were available for purchase for $2. I believe you are able to bring your own *canned* beer in a cooler. I was afraid of getting sea sick so I decided to pass on breakfast, but I did have lunch which was pretty good. On the way out the crew takes the time to explain to the newbies the basics of how to use the rod n reel and that they will be handling any fish we catch incase they are poisonous or sharp. They provide buckets near each fishing station (there are designated spots to fish from). Each bucket has a combination of sardines, and squid for you to use as bait. They instruct you to twist the tails off the fish and show you how to secure them to the hook. Overall it was a solid, but tiring experience. A few people were on hot streaks and caught plenty of fish (Trigger fish, Sea Bass, and even a big Cobia). I only managed to catch a small sea bass, a remora and a shark. There was a point where the sharks were being pesky and eating everyone's bait. The boat went to 3 different locations in search of fish, spending a set amount of time at each location. The only negative thing was when they were scrubbing down the boat on the way back, they didn't try and keep the bleach solution from ricocheting off the brush bristles on to people and in turn ruined my new set of shorts. That's what I get though for wearing new clothes to a fishing trip. You live and you learn. The two hour ride home seemed really lengthy after being out in the sun all day, but that's the nature of the beast when it comes to all day fishing (7am-5pm). The crew was nice, the service was friendly and they gave an overall great first experience. If I was to go deep sea fishing again, I would probably only do a half day trip. I would definitely recommend Obsession Fishing Charters , and also recommend paying extra for a spot in the back of the boat. Check to see if there is still a groupon available! I found these guys to be exceptional. Everyone was helpful, informative, and wonderful with our young children. All the equipment was in good working condition and a deck hand was always nearby when needed. Boat itself was good for the activity and comfortable. Food was really good and bottomless drinks were a hit with my kids on a hot day. We caught a good 10lbs of fish... Mostly amberjack. They cut them up nicely and bagged them to bring home for cooking. This is a difficult business to rate. The guys on the boat are awesome and deserve a solid five stars. The food on board is excellent, and the guy who runs the galley is a wizard. He keeps a whole boatload of hungry and thirsty fishermen well provisioned, and he does it with a smile. The guys who take care of the fishing also do a fantastic job. They're right there when you need them to help out with a fouled line or any other problems you might have. They do a great job keeping everyone supplied with bait, and they do a stellar job of cleaning the deck and gunwales to keep things as hygienic as possible. So top marks to all the guys on the boat: they work hard and do a kick-ass job. I was considerably less impressed with the boat itself and some of the fishing equipment. The marine toilet wouldn't flush properly--a problem which compounded over the six hours of the cruise. And many of the fishing rods were in bad shape. The one I used had almost no grip above the reel. This would have been a problem if I had caught anything big. That brings me to my main complaint: the actual fishing was terrible! I realize that fishing is a seasonal affair and that sometimes there's just nothing biting, but we spent way too much time fishing in waters that were full of nothing but pinfish and other bait-stealers. Everyone got excited whenever they would catch something edible, but this usually turned out to be a red snapper, which had to be thrown back. A few people ended up with some smallish mangrove snappers, which are pretty good eating. But we pulled in more sharks than anything else. I know it's too much to expect a dolphinfish or king mackerel on every hook, but you would think someone among the 42 people on the boat would have caught something good. 42 people, by the way, is too many people for a vessel of this size. The pole holders are about 18 inches apart, and every one (at least on the starboard side where I was) was full. We stood basically shoulder to shoulder, meaning we spent more time untangling our lines than doing anything else. All in all, this was a frustrating day out made infinitely more tolerable by the great guys on the boat. But I don't see myself doing it again. Your nautical mileage may vary. read more

We showed up at 6:45am on a Friday morning, our scheduled trip, with family from out of state, and nobody was there to meet us. After a few attempts calling the phone numbers we had, someone called us back apologizing that they forgot to call us the night before to cancel because of a Small Craft Advisory. Ok, mistakes happen. Very inconvenient getting everyone out of the house for nothing, but crap happens. But then we learned we would not have been served lunch and drinks as it states on the website. We had two 5 year olds who would have been "starving" and "miserable," then probably some pretty hangry adults. I bring snacks for my child and me for reasons like this, but not everyone does (the rest of my group). It, all around, was a very disappointing attempt. read more

I went out on the morning half day 6 hour trip on July 17 2020. This was the last day of the Florida mini red snapper season. It had been about 5 years since I have done a trip with the Obsession. First there is no social distancing on this boat. It was filled to capacity with close to or over 70 people. I went out on the 10th and 11th with 2 different party boats who had limited capacity to about 2/3. ( Includes crew and captain) The captain set the expectation that it would be about 45 minutes to an hour to get to our first fishing spot. We left the dock at 8 am, then backed back in to pick up a straggler. Lost maybe 5 minutes of time. It seemed the first hour and forty five minutes we seemed to be going really slow, as we cruised the coastline North. Then a mate yells fish on and we come to a dead halt. The captain had slowed down to a trolling speed the whole way out to allow 2 out of 65 people to put a rod in the water. We were stopped for about 15 minutes while one person fights his fish and the other 64 watch our fishing time dwindle away. 1 hour of fishing time lost for 64 of us. Two hours fishing time gained for 1 person. Hopes for a crew and captain that hustled to put a fish on all of stringers dashed. (Response to Captain Greg: The other 58 people were not excited and several asked why you allowed them to troll on a half day) It was well over two hours into our trip before we hit our first of two spots. The first 20 minutes a few decent fish were caught. Great maybe this captain will salvage this trip and keep putting us on fish. Nope. No such luck. He actually told us we are going to move to a new spot it's probably a good time to eat. Did we move? No. He didn't even turn the motor on. He pulled the anchor up, and dropped it right back down. No one caught anything for 45 minutes. (response to Captain Greg: This spot produced for the first 20 minutes. Pulling up the anchor and dropping it right back down as soon as it touched the boat is not moving.) He finally took us to a 2nd spot at about 11:45. Told us we have about 10 minutes to fish. Total fishing time was less than 2 hours. None of the crew cared that the majority of the boat lost a large percentage of our potential fishing time to cater to 1 person. I did catch fish. But it was not a "great trip" as Captain Greg says it was. read more

We are in town for a softball tournament, and wanted to add a little fishing to our list of things to do while visiting the space coast. We found the night shark fishing and were really surprised by the reasonable price for such an adventure. There was heavy rain just before we were to leave, but we trusted the Captain's judgement and still went. Shortly after leaving the dock the rain cleared out and the view was incredibly beautiful as the sunset. The shark were a little slow at first but eventually found us. We had 26 fishing on our trip and just about everyone was getting action. We brought in plenty of shark to make the trip worthwhile. I even had the pleasure (and task) of hooking up a big tiger shark and getting a good 15 or so minute fight. Brought it all the way up to the boat using the rods supplied by ocean obsessions! Great staff, very helpful, and patient with several kids on board. What a great time and if you're in town, definitely worth checking out! read more

The crew was wonderful, but I wouldn't recommend this service during spring break. We stood so close together that we spent more time untangling our lines than actually fishing. We caught 1 "keeper" for a full day of fishing. There were 3 in our party. Spend a bit more for one of the smaller boats and more personal service. Called a month before our trip to Florida (from Michigan) to book the trip. Gave them my credit card number. The day before the scheduled trip, we called to confirm (as we didn't hear from them & had no directions) and they told us that we were lucky that they had a cancellation and were able to accommodate us as they were full. I found this experience to be just okay. The staff was super nice, and super helpful, which I definitely appreciated and loved. I did, however, have a few issues with the overall experience. First, there was absolutely zero adherence to CDC guidelines, it was honestly quite shocking to see. I assumed that the boat would be limited and spaced out per party, that was not the case. That was not the case. The boat was filled to capacity, with about 70 people on board, and you were placed inches away from a person on your left and right, so zero forms of social distancing. There was also no enforcement of masks, the staff nor the guests were wearing masks. I just found the lack of adherence to the CDC guidelines to make me feel very uncomfortable the entire time. Second, because everyone is so close together, the when you started fishing, your line would get tangled with multiple other lines about 90% of time time, so your fishing was very limited. Overall, I feel like you get what you pay for. But I do think they need to change the guidelines in order to make the guests, like me, return and feel more comfortable. I may be back if they limit the amount of people and start implementing new procedures to make me feel safe, because we did have fun, and like I said, the staff was very nice and very helpful. read more

This is definitely a family experience however not geared for serious fishermen and women. The Crew was terrific and the cook was great! The tour was an hour and a half ride to our location as well as an hour + back. Once at our location we fished for a while caught a few fish than moved to another location, caught a few more than arrived at our last location which I would have rather gone back to the dock then fished there. It was a great spot and everyone's reels were rocking however everyone was reeling up Red Snapper which was out of season. They were being hit by the dozens however were comIng up so fast that there wasn't enough time to release the air from there stomachs. So at least a dozen an a half were dead on the surface of the ocean. That was difficult to watch. Heartbreaking. Once he were done and began to head back they immediately started to scrub the decks down with Clorox that was toxic to breathe. Upon our arrival they hung our 20 tiny fish for over 40 people while the boat that followed right behind us had a massive catch with about 12-15 people. There was really not much room to fish. Hardly any elbow room. My pole was jabbing the person to the right of me and when I moved to try to stay out of his way I would cross my pole over the person to my left get redirected to jab the person to my right again. That was with the up graded $10 tickets located in the back of the boat. Definitely will return to fish with one of the other charters. read more

My friend Ed and I did the half day trip this past Sunday... Boat: Standard fishing vessel.. We had 46 on the boat and it was comfortable.. Clean bathroom and kitchen.. Crew: Max and Scott are very seasoned hands and were very helpful throughout the trip.. Can't remember the cooks name but he was a young friendly dude that went around and took peoples orders and when he wasn't cooking he helped the other hands with landing fish, untangling lines etc,.. The captain was a real pro and got us on some fish. Overall it was a good experience and I was impressed form the ladies at the ticket booth to the cook and deck hands... I will definitely do this boat again.. I heard a lot of compliments about the food and my friend Ed said the hamburger was better than he had expected.. I didn't eat because I got sea sick but will next time.. It all looked great.. What the guy below was talking about is that the crew does not appreciate people getting sick in the kitchen area or the bathroom.. if you are going to get sick they want you too do it overboard (as I did).. The boat turned around before we left Port to go back and pick up 6 additional passengers we lost 20 minutes of fishing time. The mates on the boat were helpful. There was only one keeper fish taken on the entire boat with 60 people fishing, on our six hour half day trip. I know fishing can be hit and miss but this was a complete miss! read more

This is my second time back and it was the same enjoyable experience as the first time. The breakfast sandwiches are big, the burgers a freaking huge, and the beer is ice cold. The guys helping you will bait your hook, untangle your lines, and pretty much give you the shirt off their backs so you can have a great time. My boyfriend, our two children and myself went for a shark trip yesterday and had a BLAST! Boat was not very full and between the entire boat we caught 13 nice sharks. Matt and Rod were amazing mates. Always there right when you needed them!! Ian is an amazing captain who even got us out of a pretty nasty rain storm. This was my first time fishing on a chartered boat. There were 8 of us in our group. The trip was awesome! We caught plenty of fish and a variety of them. We had the biggest catch of the day too! They fed you breakfast & lunch(Joey was adorable) you could help yourself to unlimited beverages. The bathroom was tiny but hey your on a boat. The boys work very hard but seem to enjoy their jobs. They were very patient with us and helped us to figure out how things worked. After the trip they cut up our fish so we could grill it, and it sure was tasty. As a family we were looking for an evening activity and came across Obsession Fishing online. We decided to try the night shark fishing. The price seemed really cheap which made us skeptical. To our surprise, it was the best experience of our trip. Not only did we catch sharks but I also landed the biggest red snapper I've ever caught. My son and I went on a red snapper charter in federal waters the first day of this years season, Friday 11/3. I would rate the experience as excellent. It's a 10 hour trip going out 20-24 miles in the Atlantic. The were 44 fishermen and 4 crew. The limit is one red snapper per person and the boat limited, 48 snapper. The were various other fish caught including one 31# grouper. The trip includes a hot breakfast and lunch cooked by the crew on board and it was tasty, several choices to choose from. You can also bring you own food and drinks should you choose to do so. The crew was right on point to immediately help with anything you needed like bait, tangled lines, landing your fish and questions. The entire crew, including the capitan, was very friendly as well as Sandy who booked the trip and collected payment. The rates were very reasonable and we'd sign up again in a minute. Although it was SO hot we really enjoyed our all day fishing trip! I highly recommend it! In the morning breakfast sandwiches and potatoes were displayed and at lunch chips and burgers! Thank you Cpt. Shaun for a great day of fishing. The deck hands were helpful always there when you needed them. The galley was clean and food was good. Endless ginger ale for me and always refilled my cup with a smile. Caught 8 fish total in our group and we went home with fish for our women. Deck hands even the Cpt. Did a little fishing showing off a 250lbs. Nurse shark 8ft. Long COOL that was only when everybody was having no issues. Boat holds 60+ we had 32 aboard so it was easy peazie lemon squeeze. I do want to say "remember you are on a boat people smoke and drink and get sea sick" so I personally don't drink smoke or puke but expect someone doing these things while your on the high seas and oh ya take Dramamine before you board read the direction.
