Marc took our family of 6 out at 3:30 on a Monday for a 2 hour crabbing trip. What a great time we had! This was our first time every crabbing, although some in our party have done deep see fishing trips before. Our group consisted of my husband and I, two kids (15 and 12) and their grandparents. Marc explained how to pull up the pots, empty them and measure the crabs and then we were off to do it ourselves. Everyone was a part of the crabbing and everyone truly enjoyed themselves! We even have 2 in our party who normally get very easily seasick and there were no issues in the sound. The best part was we ended up with an entire bushel basket of crabs! Good thing we went on a Monday so we had all week to eat them! We will definitely go out crabbing with Marc again and would recommend this charter to anyone with a group looking for something fun to do while in OBX! read more

We had an absolutely amazing time! Another charter company lost our reservation and almost ruined our 4th of July! We called everyone in town trying to find someone to take us out and everyone was booked solid. We finally found Captain Marc, and even though he was planning to take the day off, he saved our day and took us out for an amazing crabbing experience. We went with our 2 grandsons, ages 6 and 4, and had an awesome time. The kids got to bait the traps and help with everything. Although they didn't like separating of the shrimp. Listen folks....you work 51 weeks a year to go on a vacation...if you are like me and want to think outside of the box and do something different......this is it. It was simply a fantastic experience. I have been on something similar this before, and I don't know Marc Mitchum or his son Wes....I met them for the first time yesterday.....but I want to tell you....this is was the highlight of our vacation. You can pick from a 2 hour or 4 hour trip where you can shrimp (think big nets dragged behind the vessel) or crab (work with crab pots sorting crabs)....or both...it depends how much time you pick. Our family had an absolute ball...and it is something that the youngest to oldest would do again in a heartbeat. We've chartered boats to go inshore, near shore, and off shore fishing...and this was right up there with the best time we've had doing that kind of fishing.....and NOT based on the amount we caught. It was just hands on, learned a ton, got to touch everything, do pretty much any job we wanted, etc. The bottom line....go....you've done the beach thing a billion times, kayaked, jet skied, hiked, climbed Jockey's Ridge, etc, etc, etc.....try something different. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. Our group had such a good time. Very interactive. We were able to pull the shrimp nets in, sort everything, and then we went crabbing and pulled the pots up and helped sort out the crab. If you want a very fun 4 hours I highly recommend giving captain marc a call. Him and his son made the day really enjoyable! If i am ever in the outer banks I'm am definitely giving him a call again. read more

6 of us went out crabbing with Captain Mark from OBX crabbing, we had an incredibly fun time and finished up with over a bushel of crabs for dinner. It was a great experience actually hooking the buoy's and then pulling the traps in and shaking the crabs out measuring them and resetting the crab pots. We even learned a few things about crabs from captain Mark. I highly recommend this trip for family's with children .We also saw a lot of dolphins. read more

Captain Marc is the bomb!!! We were searching last minute for a crabbing excursion and Captain Marc was so accommodating to our group and our schedule. Being a holiday weekend and with our limited window of opportunity to go, I thought there would be no way we'd be able to do a charter and give our kids the experience of crabbing in OBX. Alas, Captain Marc made it happen! We are so grateful for the experience and had a blast learning from Captain Marc and his deep expertise! He was so good with all of the kids (ranging in age from 6 - 13) and even let them "run the show" by pulling in the pots and emptying them into the boat. We had crab for days after quite a successful outing! We will definitely look him up again the next time we're in OBX so we can do it again and/or for shrimping!
