Labor Day before heading back home, so I called to schedule three for parasailing gave her the weight paid for it over the phone when we get there we were 14lb. Over weight, then the employee proceeded to say in front of this big group (well we can only have 2 of your party go parasailing because you lied about your weight) like do you really think I lied on purpose??? and also payed to get on, Like really, have more common sense, and learn how to talk to your customers. Bottom Line: A small kite shop and launching point for kayak and SUP rentals and parasailing adventures. Kitty Hawk Kites along the Manteo waterfront earns four stars from me largely based on my experience with renting kayaks. My husband and I wanted a scenic and easy paddle and we thought Manteo would be a great place for that. Plus with a recent, rare manatee sighting in the area I wanted to see if manatees do really wear novelty tees. Anyway, we didn't see any manatees but we did have a nice kayak trip. We found 60 minutes was plenty to explore the area and take some photos. Ken was helpful with getting us launched and I liked the setup they have for climbing into kayaks. As far as shopping goes, Kitty Hawk Kites in Manteo is a very small storefront so if you're serious about shopping for a kite I'd recommend going to the Nags Head location first thing in the morning before it turns into a tourist zoo. The Manteo storefront is very small and cramped but does have some kites, spinners, windsock, toys and souvenirs. read more

As you can see, I've reviewed a thing or two. The price i find for parasailing was absurd for what you get, let alone the ad ons if just having a person come on the boat to observe or the photo package (for basically a 15 minute ride over brackish bay water). The view is no better than drone footage. Save yourself the money you want to take your family up, BUY the actual drone, and go to Jockey's Ridge and fly it. I booked a private sunset cruise for my boyfriend and his family for his birthday and we had an amazing time! Captain Randy was a lot of fun to ride with. He was super knowledgeable and got us out there fast enough that we got so see a ton of dolphins! So it was like 2 tours in 1! Two of my family members did parasailing last week. Check in was easy, friendly/knowledgeable. Captain was good, mate was friendly/entertaining. Had to pay for myself to join the boat ride as a spectator then we paid $35.00 for them to take pictures of the trip - pictures came out blurry. You pay in advance for the pics and cannot see them before leaving (they give you a SD card). $35 thrown in the water and had we known, I would have taken more pics with my camera. Maybe others had luck with good pics, but we did not. Bummed, needless to say. They mentioned they had a go-pro, but that was it, no mention if we wanted to see/buy. read more

Had a great experience parasailing here. Our captain and crew were wonderful and cracked funny jokes while we rode out into the bay. They were very informative and qualmed all of my fears about being up to high above the water. Manteo is a great location to leave from to go parasailing, cute downtown and plenty of parking in different areas. We rented kayaks here. The location is great! Esp. when compared to their location off hwy. 64 bridge. It's calm canal waters and was great to take kids on. The water was deep here. Since there was only one sales person here, the wait was long and there was not much guidance but overall was a good experience. read more

My husband, my brother and his fiancé, my parents and I all went parasailing for the first time! The staff/captain/first mate were all wonderful, friendly, reassuring, experienced, and informative. We even stopped and watched the Dolphins after we finished parasailing. It was supposed to storm around 3 pm and we were scheduled to go at 4:15 so they were very flexible and allowed us to switch our time that same morning to 12:30! Amazing afternoon! Went for a little kayaking with my family. Downtown Manteo is a very cool little town, and this specific location for KHK was right in the middle and on the waterfront. The parking on the waterfront was a bit "congested" and we had to park about a block away. The pricing was a bit confusing, as the rates didn't match up with what the associate was telling us vs. the posted pricing on the board, but she was very nice and gave us the lowest of the two prices. They only have sit in kayaks (I prefer the sit on top models). As for the actual kayaking experience, it was just ok. There were scant choices on waterways, as this is located right on the Albemarle sound, with a lot of open water kayaking if that's your thing. The canals we did find were either small with not much scenery, or residential waterfront property. There was not a strong current so you do have to do a bit of padding to get around unlike river kayaking trips I have been on. Over all it was a fairly enjoyable couple of hours and would make a good kayaking trip for novices. read more
