This business is a joke. Let me explain. I have a very basic 85 gallon tank with 1 red eared slider turtle and very minimal plants/accessories. It took 3 tries for them to clean my tank right and use correct media for my Fluval FX6 filter. A quick Google search told me more than than one of their employees could. On the last visit, one of the employees tells me that a rock was jamming the filter and that is why the tank was dirty so quickly after cleaning. However, she said she couldn't show me the rock because she threw it back in the tank! Seriously? Also, there is a grate on the intake that prevents rocks from being sucked up and she even acknowledged that it seemed impossible for that to happen. I'm not one to question someone's honesty or integrity, but the whole thing was fishy! Pardon the pun. Either way, even if the employee did not lie about the rock and it somehow miraculously got into my filter, the overall experience with this company has been very bad and to top it all off, they asked me to pay for one of the secondary visits to get my tank cleaned! We moved into a house that has a 200 gallon salt water aquarium. I never had an aquarium and didn't realize the amount of work required to maintain it. We saw one of their service vans in front of our neighbors house and asked a few questions about maintenance. They came over and was able to describe everything in our tank. This company provides excellent service with a twist of educating me about the industry, They have been very patient and attentive to all questions/service requests and are very reliable. Six months into the house, our fish look healthy and the aquarium is still a beautiful addition to our Entry way. There is no way it would look like this without OC-FISH amazing service. OC-FISH service Manager Rachael has also recommended and added new additions to the tank (fish and corals) making it look even better than when we first moved in. Very unprofessional when it comes to making and keeping appointments. I needed help setting up my apex, radion lighting, and calcium reactor. He didn't know anything about radion ilghting, said my calcium reactor was hard to set and didn't even bother trying, and made a tiny adjustment to my apex then asked for $65 for the consultation. I'm sure he's fine when it comes to changing water and cleaning a pump or two, but don't bother when it comes to the more advanced stuff. read more

I'm not normally one to write these however if I can save someone from making my mistake I will. I saved and saved and finally had enough to build an amazing tank which I put in the hands of OC fish. One year later and dozens of dead fish I can tell you, the tank they had built was completely wrong. I've had numerous specialists out to try to help me and they all say the same thing. Any one who knows fish tanks knows the systems OC fish used are outdated and and the return holes in the back of the tank are literally half the required size. At the time I simply put my trust in them, with no previous experience, that's where I went wrong. $7,000 later I'm left with a nice looking body of water, leaking outdated canister system that never properly worked, and no money to try to build the dream tank I sought a year ago. It's really terrible. I understand I was a relatively small job for them but to me it was all I had. I'm now forced to tear down this expensive empty glass box without any help from them. They stopped returning my calls and were virtually unreachable after the installation. read more

very disappointed. Once the contract is done and tank paid for, I could not find him anymore. I am new at this and with a brand new tank, there were some issues and questions, but he would not return phone calls or emails. After numerous attempts, he returned by texting only, unprofessional way to conduct business. The work was average at best; sloppy job, not impressed. Another problem: he did not have a fish store, and so whenever the fishes arrived, he would call you and see if he could come by. Usually 10 min notice. If you are not available, he moves on. My new guy (Capistrano Reef) is currently fixing the problems he left behind; Capistrano Reef has a great fish store. I can check out the products before i decide to buy and take them home, which is a plus. Also, they are always at the store so you can always find them if you have questions. I Do Not Recommend OC Fish for lack of availability, poor customer service, and no fish store for you to check out his work. read more

My turtle was severely injured & nearly died. Due to a drain that was not properly cared for my turtles foot became caught. I called the company repeatedly & texted Troy (the owner I believe) saying that my turtle was stuck & I feared for his life. I was told that no one was available until the morning. Instinctively I knew if left overnight my pet would die, he was so weak & barely moving. I begged for anyone at OC Fish to help & actually texted one of their former employees offering $100 cash to him if he would help. Finally I found another company, Orange County Reef Care, online. Even though it was 9:00 at night and the owner Alfonso was already in bed, he came right away driving 45 minutes to get to my house. He rescued my precious turtle, who is badly injured & in need of a vet. My turtle would have drowned if Alfonso did not free him from the drain. Not only did Orange County Reef care step up when OC Fish failed, they didn't even charge me a dime! They have free 24 hour emergency services 24 hours a day 365 days a year!!! Skip OC Fish. I've spent a ton of money with them & when I really needed them they were a no show. Call Orange County Reef Care, ask for Alfonso 714-262-9384 this man is very professional & he has a great company with competent & available staff. read more
