All the major, and even economy, airlines sadly left. But you can still book a helicopter ride or if you have a friend who flies, they likely keep their small plane here! There are also a couple flight academies here. Attached, but not accessible while waiting for a flight, is a restaurant, Hangar One Bistro. Will definitely be giving it a try one of these days. Also if you're in the area you can rent from Avis, Hertz, and Enterprise here. Worth a visit, I hope someday they have a national carrier flying out of here! Don't hate JAX, but can't beat NFRA!

Watching the planes take off and land, all varieties from small single props to jets, at close proximity was lots of fun. I can see how people get bitten by the flying bug for sure.

There simply isn't enough traffic to maintain airline lounges or too many restaurants. That's all fine and dandy. What's not great is the one restaurant they do have in this airport. It struggles to handle the demands during any modestly busy times. I watched with disappointment as they forgot my order. Accidents happen, and I truthfully wasn't too mad or unpleasant about it. I requested an update on my order after about 30 minutes of waiting and it took them another 5 minutes or so to finish. Apparently, my experience wasn't unique. This is fine, stuff happens. But then the staff chose to talk trash about me for no reason. I'm still confused because I genuinely wasn't rude in the slightest to them.

I needed to book a flight home with only a few days notice. I was looking at all of the airports within a 3 hour radius of Jacksonville. To my surprise Daytona was actually cheaper than JAX or MCO, and it's significantly closer to Jacksonville. I decided to give it a chance and I was quite surprised. The drop off area is small but had enough space for the departing people to unload. There were a few gates and then a quick walk to TSA security. We have pre-check and only had one person in front of us. I will say, for such a small airport, these were some of the rudest TSA employees I have ever met. Usually they are somewhat friendly and say hello, not here. At least not the 2 I came into contact with in the beginning. Considering there wasn't many people, we were done in a matter of minutes, including the additional screening time, due to my Buccees BBQ sandwich that had been wrapped in foil, whoops. That TSA agent was actually funny and had a good laugh at my food I brought for the flight. There were only 3 departing flights that afternoon and there are only 6 gates so walking to the last gate in the terminal was very quick. There was enough seating for the flights. There aren't many food and drink options, but it was not a big deal. Overall this was an easy airport to fly out of and I would happily fly out of here again.

The counter agent for Allegiant was super friendly and helpful in answering our questions. The TSA security agent was very friendly and helpful by having my wife take our pet out of the travel carrier and he even reached out a pet our little Lilly. We have travelled out of this airport many times and it is always the best from parking to check to the gate. I highly recommend it!

People in lines in Security kept being moved from one area to the next. Over 1 hour to get to gate in this small airport. Then they called boarding for our flight 25 minutes early. Would normally not be an issue but we decided to have lunch. The meal arrived and they called boarding. We did depart 5 minutes early. Airport is clean, parking is reasonable.
