    2024 Graduation Ceremony

Came here for my niece's graduation. Hillside Theater is an intimate place to honor and recognize the graduates for all of their hard work, gathering of lasting memories, etc.

I'm basing my review on a conference and a college tour of the campus geared to those who attended the conference. Oxy is a cute liberal arts college in a college town neighborhood of Glendale. I love the 1910's architecture. It's like the Huntington if it were a college campus. The facilities for the conference were very nice and well kept. We were mostly in Choi Hall that has eastern Asian architecture. Bathrooms were tricky to find, but once you could navigate Johnson Hall, you can figure it out. The food was catered by the school. We had pastries for breakfast with some really tasty tea. For lunch we had a taco bar which was very scrumptious that I had to go in for seconds! Catering is awesome! The tour was well paced. We didn't feel rushed. I did like seeing obama's dorm hall. The library looked pretty cozy. It's a small campus and easily walkable. I wasn't coming in as a prospective student but rather just a curious visitor who wanted to learn more about this hidden gem! Jewel was our guide and they did an awesome job talking about campus facts and trivia!

This campus is perfect for either walking the campus itself or walking the trails that exist around it...very picturesque and architecturally beautiful... gorgeous campus and relatively quiet and calming place to unwind... check out the Cafe next to the commissary and grab a drink after your walk ... but shhhhhhh.... People are studying here... the future Obama's of tomorrow... and Obamettes!

Gorgeous campus. Lots of history here, this is actually where President Obama attended college and not to mention where I graduated HS. There's some trivia for ya. As far as the professors and courses go, I can't comment on that since I never attended Oxy but I do love to come here to exercise with my sister on occasion. Beautifully landscaped, views of the city and so peaceful with the church bells ringing throughout the campus. It's easy to see why so many ppl come here to enjoy the scenery. Try the stairs if you're looking for the ultimate glute workout lol.

    A venue for weddings

What a diamond in a rough campus. I mean gorgeous layout, spacious, tranquil yet lively. Spectacular architecture, fantastic ambience and full of eccentric attractive success-driven students. Iv never attended the school but because of its beauty, the cafeteria and central courtyard has become an exciting venue for numerous weddings and events that I have had the luck and pleasure of working in. From a quick skim I learned of the rich history this college developed from. I'm surprised at the low amount of yelp reviews, in fact I believe this college is extremely underrated! Truly remarkable experience with the campus and staff.

Watching my good friend perform at Oxy!

My husband and I used to say, "I know if she can just get in, she will find her place there". This is her first year, and I can't say enough good things about this school. Besides having top notch education in mechanical engineering (her major) and research, the campus does an amazing job of keeping families involved, and also making the students feel at home. My daughter was so excited to go back to campus after winter break. She loves living on campus, and knows her professors. She has already hinted she may want to stay over for research opportunities during summer. And what is a plus is that she is just as excited to tell me about their social events. Lastly, I also love that they invited the families on campus the first week of school. We get caught up with monthly emails and video meetings. What an amazing institute all around.

We don't need to pay for expensive trips to parks anywhere else, if we live in the Los Angeles area. Pasadena itself is the crown of Southern California and CalTech is its diadem. Parking was $220 + Sales Tax during Fall/Spring semesters. Winter/Summer are a bit cheaper. As a business major, professors here in my experience weren't the best. Rarely you'll get a highly knowledgeable professor with legit experience in the field you're studying in. Some professors just make me wonder how in the world they get to teach in the first place. For example, we had an HR professor making us type 10 page essays every week with no substance to it. Overall: I did enjoy my experience here. I did what I can in those 2 years, 1 year being remote. Worked here as a SA. There's definitely a lot of improvements needed to be made. From school initiatives, in-house internships, old buildings that need to be replaced, library study room filled with mold, administration-student relationships etc. Students should be more engaging here and I just didn't get the vibe here in most classes. My recommendation if you're considering going here is to do as much research as you can and try your best to foster self-initiatives and join clubs or work on campus. Key Takeaways: - CSULA is a commuter school so expect many students to not being sociable or engaging. Many friends I've talked to who went here agreed on the same thing. - Lots of politics - CSULA is conveniently located by the I-710 and I-10 freeways. - Food Court consist of Fast Food (El Pollo Loco, Carl's Jr., Panda Express etc) (Not many food choices near by campus) - Old buildings. Some with mold on them or elevators not working. - WiFi Connection in Salazar Hall or King Hall may be weak for some.

As a music major, they have excellent programs regarding the arts and have a separate building specifically for the arts. Although, sometimes music classes may be held at other buildings. I did finish with 70 credits with a 3.0 GPA although, when it comes to counseling and class advisory, they're not much help unfortunately. Basically for the most part, you do have to figure it out on your own. I generally did have a good experience and education at PCC. Especially with understanding with how music works when it comes to theory. Some of the learning is hands on and off. When it comes to college social life, if I'm being honest, it was great to make the connections I did...although, I should've mainly focused on trying to further my education rather than distracting myself. Other than that, it's generally a good community college if you're coming out of high school and a beautiful campus in my opinion.

Knowing that so many students use social media and would follow their accounts, it would be a great way to keep students updated about financial aid and deadlines. Single parents are making huge sacrifices to go to school, so they do not have to depend on government assistance and then you gaslight them, making them feel bad because they have obligations. We want parents to strive for success and not sabotage their career by adding another hurdle in the way of supporting their kids on their own. I read another negative yelp on respiratory therapy after I posted mine. My hope this helps single parents who are searching for a career about their decision to attend this school for respiratory therapist. I also hope it changes the direction and focus of the school to help support our future. This is a technical school to learn a trade and it can be costly to choose this route. Let's support our future by talking to them, not making them feel bad because they have kids or other responsibilities with them, instead let's encourage, support and provide empathy to help them complete their desire to flourish as a respiratory therapist.

This is one of those reviews "if I can give negative stars", I would types. I've already emailed both Chris Becker and Megan Clifton earlier this year and no one has responded. I've listened and did everything Nicole and my instructors told me to do and still had a difficult time passing my boards and finding a job. I've got no response when emailing them for help, but they (Nicole and Platt college) expect me to respond to their surveys. It just felt like half of the cohort I was with were failing. I won't say what year I finished. I know I'll be gaslit. So onto what I discovered. I googled the pass rate for this school. Imagine my glee when I saw the abysmal performance. If you don't trust me, search "Respiratory Care Board pass rates" and you should eventually find a pdf document with the pass rates for this school and other campuses. I'll attach an image illustrating what I saw.  If you got 50-60% on a test, you would fail right? But these guys who were getting BELOW the state AVERAGE for the past few years get to keep their job. I like to remind you that I informed Chris Becker (the college president) of this. Basically about half of the students who attend this school for respiratory therapy end up becoming licensed respiratory practitioners. I will admit that I'm writing this with a little bit of bitterness. Imagine the staff with roughly a 50% pass rate telling you you're not knowledgeable enough. I honestly think this school is brought the state average down lol. In the end, numbers don't lie.
