Booked this place a day before check-in; last minute after a horrible Airbnb situation and I'm thankful to stay this could've been a worse review.
Staff- this hotel wouldn't be operating without every one of them. I've stayed at nicer resorts and have never received this kind of hospitality. Everyone goes above and beyond. Every single person.
Without them, this would be a 3 star review.
Please don't be that person who assumes tips are also included.
Food- I hate all-Inclusive resort food. The only time I looked forward to the buffet was for breakfast. I didn't like a single thing otherwise. I much preferred Chips with Beans from the snack bar which you cannot go into if you're in a wet swimsuit, and only during certain times.
There's a Seafood "restaurant" where you can serve yourself hamburgers, French fries and different kinds of Ceviche, very mediocre.
BUT! If you're able to reserve a dinner at the Italian restaurant, oh my. You are in for a treat. Seriously.
(I wish they applied 10% of this effort/flavor to all their food.) You book these dinners in the lobby.
The servers here don't explain how it works so I will.
You get 1 appetizer, entree and dessert per person.
Highly recommend the Calamari & Shrimp appetizer, New York steak and all desserts.
*Skip the white wine*
In the Tokyo restaurant you'll be lucky if you have Kristel Arroyo as a server. She made the only lemonade I could actually drink at this place, it was delicious. She accommodated every single one of us. Every one who works here is great but she went above and beyond of us. Thank you!
Rooms- Quite comfortable. I was freezing the entire time but my siblings who love the cold were in heaven. The design is modern and clean. The shower door allowed for a whole lot of water to get out. The shampoo was also not horrible. But of course, bring your own if you care about your hair.
My biggest issue was being able to hear every single thing happening in the hall.
Fridge- apart from our fridge smelling like rotten food, I appreciated that they filled it daily with 3 bottles of my favorite water, Epura, 2 Orange Juice Boxes, 3 Coronas, 2 Pepsi, 2 Seven-Up and 2 small bags of Japanese Peanuts. They have a coffee maker, of course coffee and 2 water bottles at room temperature for this.
Beach- I was told there's a river that makes the water more brown than blue in this area. It's not bad but if you want something less brown, go about 5 resorts up, towards Bucerias. I didn't feel any rocks while walking in the sand even though I was told I would. The sunsets here are insanely beautiful.
Beach activities- your room includes access to paddle boards, kayaks and foam surf boards.
Paid activities by a separate company are a parachute, jet skies, banana boat and I think that's it. Parachute runs at 1,000 pesos per person, we got it down to a little less than $800 since it was 3 of us. Jet skies are $600 for 30 minutes. These activities are best between 11 am and 1 pm since the wind and waves are minimal.
Pool- after 12 pm, hot, hot, hot. I've never been in a pool this warm. I would've expected something bigger or with a nicer design like the rooms but nope. You get a daily towel to rent. No biggie. There's a schedule of games and dances. I love when resorts have these. I saw someone win a bottle of wine and a free scuba lesson. My mom and other ladies are doing a dance lesson as I write this review.
Drinks- a joke. Nothing is natural. They need everything quick so it's all artificially sweetened.
The taste of Splenda is in everything.
Sodas don't even have gas, we had to bring down the cans from our mini fridge. The one drink we enjoyed were the Frapps made at the lobby bar. But I have to note that my family had no problem drinking any of these drinks because they aren't as picky as I am. My mom loved her Micheladas.
Booking- if you book through Expedia you'll wear a Gold wristband and "$500" resort credit worth crap unless you want 25% off coupons for spa.
Black wristband is for Royal guests, let me break it down.
You get your own 7th floor lobby, nicer room, buffet/restaurant, separate pool with jacuzzi, little bed on beach, upscale bar, 24/7 room service and free wifi. If you book through Costco this is already included.
You can also upgrade to the black wristband to access everything above -except- room, and wifi. I think the upgrade cost is $600 pesos per person, per day. I do think it's worth it.
Their crappy Wifi costs $280 pesos PER room, for the entire length of your stay. Unlimited devices. So why pay for more than 1? There's only wifi in your floor, lobby and if you're lucky, some sections of the pool. If Verizon didn't limit me to half a Gb per day, I wouldn't have paid for it.
Would I stay here again? Maybe. But after seeing the hotels next door while on the parachute, I really want to come back to one of those. read more
