I really like working with these folks. They have low fees, convenient locations and other perks. Their app is great. It has all the functionality you need. It's never down. Their mortgage team is lighting fast and they have excellent rates. I think these folks are great for most things. I haven't used them for auto loans or credit cards tho. read more

The worst customer service ever on the phone. When I tried to make a first time payment on a loan all I wanted was some info on HOW to do it, there is a fee for doing it, not doing it, not doing in on automatic bill pay, Also, when I was trying to determine over the phone the gal just kept repeatedly talking over me and in circles. I finally just hung up AND SHE CALLED BACK TWICE MORE. Yelling that she is trying to help??? CRAZY! I feel like all of the "verifying your identity" question, I seriously thought I was probably having my identity stolen, or that I called a scam number. it was the weirdest thing. read more

Update: After around six months with the bank, I am still happy to call it my home. One day, I brought in a huge piggy bank (this thing was like 30 pounds, I could barely lift it myself), and they counted all the change for free with no complaints. Every time I've had a question or needed something, I've been able to get somebody on the phone within a few minutes. Had a good experience setting up an account here. Everybody was friendly and this place seems to have some real good policies. Looking forward to making this my primary bank! read more

I love my bank. I love going to the bank, and not because it's where I stash my millions made from selling tie-dye fashions at Saturday Market. OK, I'm not a Saturday Market master craftswoman, but I am a member of OCCU, and have been for years, since the U-Lane-O days. I continue to enjoy the super friendly tellers and non-teller staff who essentially hold your hand through any process that takes place in a little banking cubicle/office, rather than at the counter. OCCU offers great rates, interest bearing checking accounts, and no fees (for any of the services/accounts I've used). Easy to use online banking services saves tons of time. Convenient locations and operating hours bring this to 5 stars. Not only is there a campus OCCU branch in the UO Bookstore on 13th Ave, IT IS OPEN (most) SUNDAYS!!!!!!! Limited hours during the weekend, but I can't tell you how great it is having the option to do banking on the weekends, let alone on SUNDAY!! read more

I am so glad I switched from US Bank to OCCU. The employees are not rude, lazy, slow, or incompetent! It's a miracle! OCCU has occasionally messed up my account -- the online bill pay feature malfunctioned once, for example -- but they've always fixed it. And I love the Remarkable Checking Account: it pays better interest than some CDs, and at the end of each month, all your ATM fees (from ANY bank's ATM) are refunded. read more

Oregon community Credit Union is just another bank. I have been trying to payoff my car loan for over an hour now and it has been such a headache to do so. I called waited on hold for 15 minutes and then was rushed off the phone with incorrect information. I wouldn't recommend Oregon Community "Bank" to anyone unless you are into pain and suffering. I walked in today to get some quarters for the laundry. I ended up saving $100s of dollars. They asked me if I had a car loan and told me that they were doing refinancing at a rock bottom rate. I ended up locking the rock bottom rate and saving a ton of cash. The whole time my intention was just getting quarters. I've been very happy with their service and consider this to be one of the top credit unions on the west coast US. Very student friendly and they have cookies and candy for free!! read more

I have 2 car loans through OCCU and they have been great to work with but this review is for a particular employee who has helped me with some paperwork issues I have with another company. I've been dealing with a situation for the last 2-3 weeks that needed time sensitive information and Christina Slagley has been absolutely amazing to work with. I believe she works in the call center and I'm so grateful she's always been the person who took my call. She even remembered our conversation from weeks ago. She has been so helpful, attentive and prompt in getting any/all the information I need. Even when some of the information requested is out of the scope of what they normally provide or have readily available, Christina doesn't make me feel like a nuisance or problem customer. She asks questions to make sure I'm getting exactly what I need and does it with such a great positive attitude. Plus she's very efficient too! I run a service department and know great GENUINE customer service when i encounter it so I try and acknowledge it when I can. It took over a week for OCCU to post an electronic transfer from First Interstate Bank. When I called they were less than helpful, simply told me to give it a few more days?? And more bizarre they sent a nasty letter demanding proof of insurance on a car loan that was paid off???? There are credit unions that have moved into the current century with electronic transfers--- go with one of them and avoid frustration! I miss Bi-Mart Federal Credit Union!!!! read more

This credit union seems to have quite a few branches in various ends of town. The staff are courteous, willing to help (hmm, is that because they are on camera or well paid??) and don't laugh at your meager deposits. If you happen to lose your atm card, this is the only branch that can make you one on the spot. read more

I have been with OCCU for several years. When I started with them I loved them, they were responsive and customer focused. Unfortunately, over the past few years they have made cutbacks (closing branches north of Salem... I live in the Portland area) and, I'm guessing that they've cut back/outsourced their customer service. When I have made efforts to ask questions or get help on things I am blocked every time (we can't help you with that. Essentially, they hold my money and nothing more. Most recently the credit line that I have with them was decreased substantially "due to my payment history." Since I pay on time and pay off my debt I'm assuming that is my "crime." Weird. When I asked about it (online account services at their LEAST fine) was again told, we can't help you with that at this time. For these reasons I will be moving my accounts to a local credit union with stellar reviews. Not really sure why I've been waiting so long. I do try to be loyal but when no loyalty is given back at some point you have to ask yourself why. read more

Mortgage rates are higher than many other financial institutions. I am refinancing with better.com and have been waiting for 17 days for OCCU to approve a 2nd mortgage subordination request. I sent a message 10 days ago about the slow response time, I received a call the next day with excuses about how backed up they are with members refinancing. I found it odd it took less than 24 hours to respond with a phone call but weeks for a subordination request. Do they realize if they had competitive rates they wouldn't have this problem and members would refinance with OCCU? Additionally the staff at better.com stated that OCCU is notoriously slow responding to subordination requests. read more

I was excited for the new branch on Royal! I've been a member for over 10 years and I wanted to get my teenage son an account. I got off work early, to take him. I went into the Royal branch and they had two tellers and one gentleman at a desk, and one customer -- not sure if he was really a customer or not since the teller and him where chatting it up and not exchanging anything. The teller that wasn't helping anyone asked me to wait. After about four minutes and her going to another desk grabbing checks and stamping the back of them she finally said she was ready for me. When I approached the window and told her my son would like to open an account she asked if I had an appointment. I was puzzled and said "no" and then remembered "oh COVID" and asked if that is why I needed an appointment, she said yes. She then said wait a second let me see and she typed something into her computer, not sure if was related to me or if she just wanted to finish something more up before helping... she then walked over to the gentleman that was sitting at his desk asked him something then came back and told me I needed to make and appointment and if I could come back tomorrow. I said there is no one else here, can't you help me now---still thinking it was about COVID and then she said no you have to make an appointment, there isn't enough time left of the business day to help you, we like to have more time. I was there at 5:20 and the bank closed at 6:00. I was frustrated; 1) because when I walked in she felt stamping back of the checks was more important than the person in front of her, 2) because she asked me if I had an appointment and said it was COVID related 3) then said she would see if she could get me in and then telling me they couldn't help because it was too close (40 min) to closing. I am so confused if they couldn't help me because of COVID and I didn't make an appointment, they didn't have enough time in the day to help me or they just didn't care. FRUSTRATING and not impressed with the customer service. Now I'm going to have to take more time off of work to get my son an account...or maybe I'll just wait. I do understand the COVID "thing" but it would be helpful if they put a sign on the door saying they can't help you without an appointment :( read more

I met Desmund Reynolds by happenstance as he was covering a shift at an OCCU branch closest to me. He was fantastic in helping me secure a loan for a horse trailer I was buying from out of state. His proficiency in assisting me, as well as his enjoyable personality, led me to seek him out at his primary branch when I was looking for a car loan and deciding whether to finance through OCCU or through the dealership because the car was out of town. He provided me with useful information and when that car purchase didn't end up being an ideal match with my lifestyle, I was back in communication with Desmund to finance another car loan. He rapidly worked on a private party purchase that fell through and transitioned seamlessly to financing my new car purchase instead. He shared my excitement in purchasing my first brand new car and I enjoyed getting to take my puppy for him to meet after we'd talked about our dogs. I frequently recommend OCCU to coworkers who are new to the area. Having gotten to know Desmund and receiving consistently great service, I am confident in referring people to him directly for their credit union needs. read more

I got this bank because I would be spending the next three years in Eugene. Setting it up wasn't bad except the check my parents gave me wouldn't clear for three days. So basically I had no money in my account for three days which was kind of annoying. I stop here for my paycheck, deposits, taking out money, questions transferring money, etc. Overall the people working there are friendly but I can tell they're tired of college students. But they never have been rude or anything just tired looking. read more

My elderly senile mother (who moved to Seattle from Eugene) is a member of this credit union. She gave power of attorney to my brother who has no luck in getting them to honor it. My mom can't even sign her name anymore to pay her bills. My brother and I got a huge run-around from this place. They told us to add his name to her account online, but the site didn't work. He also sent them documents which they claimed not to have received. He took off an entire day from work to try to straighten out the mess and finally gave up. This place is unresponsive and dysfunctional. I hope somebody sees this review and responds! read more

If I could rate this company negative stars I would. This credit union added an additional insurance fee to my loan. They stated I had a lapse in insurance which was not the case. My insurance agent even talked to them to clear this up with no resolve. This is how they make their money. The insurance was almost $700 for 6 weeks. What the heck, I don't even pay that in 6months. I am refiancing my truck with a higher interest rate just so I am not doing ANY business with them. read more

I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY FROM THIS CU. It is not my primary institution for banking but had to open a loan for my daughters mini-van, with auto-pay set up. There was 1 month that I didn't get the deposit into my bank until the morning of. The auto-pay was rejected because it went through that morning before my bank even opened (my bad). This CU didn't try and send it back a 2nd time, like EVERY other institution. What they DID INSTEAD was continue on with the auto-pay, taking the payments every month and charging me a $25 late fee EVERY MONTH because of that one month. The account I used for the auto-pay was not a regular account I use so I didn't realize what had happened until several months later. When I finally realized I made an extra payment and explained it to OCCU. What they said "sorry we can't reverse the 6+ months of late fees but we'll go ahead and give you $50 back". Another experience I had was that they also bumped the loan up an additional 0.5% because I didn't sign up for "paperless billing" in time. I thought I signed up for it but with their archaic computer system it EVIDENTLY FAILED. Trust me when I say this isn't my first rodeo, ALL OF MY BILLS ARE PAPERLESS. After speaking to someone at their call center, I asked for a supervisor and got, "Ben" who refused to give his last name, or an address to write to the next person up the chain of command. NEVER BANK from a distance.... I relocated to Southern California where it's actually more sane, and people are not robots. When I opened my account 5 years ago, it was my first experience with a Credit Union. I like the idea of "community"... When I left Eugene I left the account intact. 3 mos. ago the "fun" began. Little did I know they had ramped up security to a level 4 terror threat. The questions were ridiculous and many. I certainly couldn't remember " everything" in my profile when I opened the account, not even the weather that day...oh wait, it was raining.... If I answered the question "wrong", or wasn't sure, and guessed, I was treated as if I had just removed a few cookies from the cookie jar, and almost got caught. TERRIBLE RESPONSES from 2 calls back to try to "get my OWN" account information. I was willing to plead guilty at any point! I asked to speak to a manager to plead with her, as it had been years since I physically left the bank and area, so I was a little foggy on some of my answers. I had actually banked at two branches in Eugene, so I couldn't remember which I had opened the account at. WRONG ANSWER! And, you don't get a second try! So, good riddens to your stoic and robotic, unfeeling, customer service reps. Yeh, I said REPS. They are your connection to a Credit Union that has taken security to a level that boggles the mind. Try to remember the year....it's not 2525 yet. 'You want valuable advice?" Treat people like they matter. Their "story" matters too. Just because I changed my web address doesn't make me a scammer or criminal. I went from AOL To iCloud. Nothing else changed, same name. But if my life depended on customer service to understand that, they took pleasure in making life more difficult for me. It's just one of the reasons we left Oregon. I am charged NSF fees twice per transaction I overdraw. When my pending balance and available balances are different I am charged $25 before the charge goes through and another $25 when it clears. I am not sure who decided to treat customers this way but as soon as I can get my money out of your business I will. You are frauds and a disgrace to Oregon. read more

This is a horrible banking institution who does not do much at all to help their customers. Unless you are "well off" with an excellent credit score, good luck trying to get anything out of them! I was with them for over 6 years and never once did they do anything for me at all. Have a checking account with debit card with them, but for some reason debit card is constantly being denied at restaurants, etc. even when plenty of money in the account (embarrasing and frustrating) and am right here in 'lil ol Eugene (not traveling or doing crazy Internet things). Called them today when it happened again. After waiting on hold forever with their call center, got transferred to a "fraud specialist" who sounded like anything would make her happier than helping me. Turns out that this "specialist" doesn't even work for OCCU, but is part of some outsourced fraud monitoring outfit - NOT why I am with a local credit union. So after I tell them that "yes, I did make that charge, and yes, I did buy that" they say they can restore my card. When I ask what I can do to stop this from happening in the future, they tell me "well, you'll have to talk with your credit union about that".... And so it begins again. Used to be a good place to bank. No longer. My suggestion - keep looking. read more

Never thought I could love a bank. They give me interest on my checking account and repay all of the ATM fees that other banks charge. Why would you go with a national bank that charges you, when you get so much back from a local bank that gives back to the community. read more

I'm very disappointed with this bank. Due to administration errors between my insurance company and this bank I've been stuck with an additional $500.00 for what looks like a gap in insurance. I believe this bank jumps at the opportunity to provide insurance at inflated pricing. I'm also baffled by the security questions needed to talk about my own account. The customer service is very very poor on top of this! I'd hope for fast, friendly and likable phone conversations for my $500.00 Go with Unitus if you have the chance. read more

After several years of being a member and paying well on several auto loans and a Visa, I was late two months in a row on my Visa, but was able to make a payment prior to 30 days past due. So NEVER being seriously delinquent. I paid of my line after selling my home at the end of these two months and they close my line on the next cycle date. This line was open for several years and paid well. Closing the line is super disappointing after the long membership and will have an adverse effect on my credit score. Thanks a bunch OCCU. Not that they care... but I will NEVER do any business with them again. read more

While I have been a member of OCCU for decades, and have generally found the tellers friendly and helpful, Their drastic, new website changes of May 2019 having me cursing and considering leaving them everytime I try to log in! The site is no longer mobile user friendly and security seems decreased. Since I do the majority of banning in my phone, the news about how much better the staff and management like the new updates doesn't impress me one bit. The apparent lack of concern over user experience just takes it to the next level. I am very likely to let my multiple accounts go dormant and move my funds and banking transactions to one of my other credit unions. read more

Big Bank NASTY attitude with outdated technology. You have to answer 5 security questions to verify your identity by phone. OCCU says I have the wrong answers. I call BS. Do not bank here if you value security on your accounts. The employees only experience has been at OCCU, they think this is how all banks/credit unions operate. They put a hold on my debit card. They used a ROBOCALL for us to recognize fraudulent activity and provided so little info on the transactions "a business placed a debit for less than a dollar on your account". Because of their lack of customer service, I had to be issued a new card. We pulled bulk of our $$ out today & will close all accounts once direct deposits have been re-directed. OCCU forgets the name on the account is ours, not yours. IT'S NOT YOUR MONEY. Opened accounts at a local bank today & earning TWICE the interest rate of OCCU. read more

First of all, I do like banking with OCCU. But, NO to their Mortgage Loans!!!! After talking about how wonderful it is to have accounts in one place, we decided to go with our banker - OCCU - that's what we were told. In reality, they DO NOT handle the mortgages and ship them off. In 2 years, our loan has been moved 4 times to various other companies. Every change/move results in the newest company not having all the information regarding insurance and taxes and previous payments. So, please realize OCCU does not handle the mortgage after they take your money. Not true advertisement regarding neighborly care with your mortgage!! read more

I applied for a credit card through the phone with OCCU (oregon community credit union). I spent a little over an hour on the phone with the representative discussing options, and what I would most likely qualify for. They assured me that if I did not immediately qualify for what was requested, I would only need a co-signer to qualify for the card, which I had readily available; If I didn't have a co-signer, occu would have my credit history on file for 30 days, so I'd be able to apply for other cards they have available without it negatively impacting my credit and told me that I'd receive my results no later than end of day Monday, 12/14/2020. I didnt receive a call on Monday 12/14/2020, so I called them at 10:00 AM PST Tuesday, 12/15/2020 requesting an update. They had someone call me at 11:15 AM PST (about an hour after I called), and told me that my application was denied, and that I do not qualify for any of their credit cards they have and only told me that I didnt have enough credit history. I explained the situation that was discussed with me when I had applied, and that I was gaurenteed to secure a credit card with OCCU because I have no missed payments, and no negative impacts on my credit history. The rep basically told me that she'll review that call and offer training for the rep I had dialogue with. I expressed that what she is offering does nothing to rectify the situation that I was led into by a rep for their company, all she responded was "any more questions?" and then said have a wonderful day and hung up. At the bare minimum, I want this ding off of my credit history or to be approved for the credit card I applied for as promised. Until then, my reviews will remain the same as at this point, they've scammed me. read more
