If you need some last-minute booze in Brigantine, Ocean Beverage is a fair and convenient choice. My friends brought me here since I failed to make a beer run ahead of my visit. We were planning some daydrinking so my only requirements were "light and low ABV." Ocean Beverage came through with a 6-pack of Victory's Cage Radler for $9 and change. Perfect! They also had plenty of other refrigerated and room temp bottles, plus a nice selection of wine, hard liquor, and mixers. I really used to enjoy going in there. I'm in Brig all year, def was in there often, since I live here now. They are extremely overpriced,but it's the only show in town,so they can do it. It's whatever. Anyway,It was Labor Day weekend, on September 5...I was walking down at the beach... And in a joking manner, I held my hand out to someone who was handing her girlfriend a Surfside... She offered me one and insisted I took it. I thought that was really nice, and after thinking about it, I wanted to buy them a four pack for being so nice. I had just passed Ocean beverage on the way back from the north end. That's where there were parked on the beach... So I decided to turn around, I was gonna buy them a four pack, and return it to them for being such a nice women.... A pay it forward situation. In any event, I walked into Ocean beverage with bare feet, and I was all the way at the end by the refrigerator, looking for the Peach iced tea Surfside, when I was approached by one of the females that work there. In hindsight, I do recall hearing yelling, from across the room, but she/they/them yelled at me all the way until she/they/them got to me until I realized that she was speaking/yelling to...at me by this point, In an extremely rude manner, she insisted that I needed shoes. I understand there's rules, but she could have approached me in a little nicer manner... As I was walking out 15 people were staring at me like I was a monster. We are at the beach for gods sake. Lmao It would be nice if the women had a little more couth, when she approached me. Yelling from across the room is extremely childish. You could always walk up to someone and speak to them. We are not dogs, we are men. I'm quite sure if I was female, I would not have been spoken to in that manner.... I didn't mind their extortionate prices, and just blamed myself for not bringing it with me. I'm well prepared now. I know they really could care less tho. That's the real sad part. When I realize the price as I left the store, I went to take it back and they never took it off my charge so they charged me and I didn't even get the product. Decent selection of wines for a small neighborhood liquor store and of course an array of booze. Great place to buy liquor. Fabulous staff, great variety of well organized top shelf goodies. I used to come here in the summer when going to Brgantine Beach, I have since made it my everyday place. Customer service goes above and beyond for you here. There are never long lines, and when they are, it moves really quickly. Great wine and champagne selection as well. I was so happy to see that Ocean Bev carries KLYR rum! It's hard for me to find a seltzer that doesn't have vodka (it makes me super sick). I really like that they are made with mineral water. I feel likes it helps with preventing my hangover . read more

This place is a place I've been coming to for years when on Vacation in Brigantine. Prices are great for the most part. A 1.75 L Skyy Vodka goes for under $23 very reasonable. While at the cashier I remembered I also needed Club soda so I asked if they sold it. The young female who was busy texting pointed to WHERE it was located. When I grabbed a bottle I noticed the price was $4.95 Umm...ok I know they either have it mislabeled or that's just their way of making up for their good prices on their liqour. So I decided I would not buy it there. Back at the cashier I mention it to the young girl and her response was "well look at where you are". You are gonna run into that pricing around here. This I know but it's not what she said it's the way she said It. After paying I said Thank You her response was "YUP". Now there's simply no way of saying that without sounding annoyed. Smh. It won't stop me from going there Because the liqour pricing is fine and after all I only go there once a year.. BUT know if you need CLUB SODA just past this liqour store on the same street you will find a market. Club soda is only $0.99 cents and the cashier was much more pleasant. read more

This is probably the best option on the island for your adult beverage store needs. The craft beer selection is really weak, but your wine basics are covered. As a PA resident, I found the wine prices to be a notch below the state store pricing, so I can easily see myself occasionally running here for a bottle or two when needed. The wine/sparking wine selection isn't that deep, but is good enough based on convenience. I haven't had a chance to check out their liquor selection yet. I'll probably do the majority of my liquor, wine and beer shopping outside of Brigantine, but it's good to know this shop is around if I need something else. read more

This place seems to get dinged a lot for service -- can't really comment on that since I found something interesting in the form of two bottles of rum, paid for them, and left...well, for the most part. When asked if I wanted I wanted a bag I said yes and with the person putting the two bottles into one bag I asked if she could put them in individual bags first so they don't bang together. She did that without any problems and I was out of there. Brigantine is a sleepy town and to me this seems to be a pretty good selection considering this factor. Ocean is...spotty, at best. This is easily the most patronized packaged goods store in Brigantine, especially in the summer. It's busy at literally every time of day and yet, for some reason, Ocean's supply refuses to meet the demand. I like Barefoot pinot grigio as an everyday wine in the summer. It's one of the most popular ones ever, or so the sticker on the bottle says. Ocean NEVER has it in stock. Like never. Sometimes they have the small bottles, but they're a bit of a rip when the bigger bottle is only $2 more. The selection here is just not good despite the amount of traffic this place gets. Really dismal champagne selection (I like to keep it classy.) Probably the worst part about this place is the staff. The staff here, particularly the females, are the most lazy, miserable, unhelpful creatures on the face of this earth. They literally SIT in chairs behind their registers and NEVER GET UP. Not even to service a sale! Never a greeting, never a "have a nice day." I swear, every single one of them looks like they just found out someone shot their dog. I take that back. I was in there a couple days ago and there was a girl I'd never seen before and she was actually smiling and very pleasant. The rest of them have facial expressions that lead me to believe they are suffering from severe constipation. Still, they are conveniently located and very reasonably priced. This is a great spot to pick up booze if you're in Brigantine. They have a great selection of wines, champagnes and liquor with a great price range depending on how much you're looking to spend. They also carry ZYR (which a friend of mine used to sell and is only available in a few states of the US right now.) I would like to see them expand their selection of rosé champagnes.. but for now.. definitely recommend this place to everyone. read more

It was only then she said this register was closed and said rudely,"Go get in the other line".I put my purchase on the counter and said never mind.I have NEVER been treated so rudely. I have to say that the prices are good and the staff is friendly except for the woman at the register. I have been coming to the store for years and after awhile I noticed that the cashier seems to be a bit racist. I am a woman of color and after awhile I noticed that she would not accept change from my hand or give me change in my hand. She would put it on the counter or ask me to put my change on the counter. Today I did an experiment. I stood in line and watched her accept change from and put change in the hand of white customers. When it was my turn, my bill was $18.05. I gave her a 20 and when I attempted to hand her the nickel, she told me to put it on the counter.. read more

Been a year long Brigantine resident for 5+ yrs. Lifelong family vacationer. Called up Ocean Beverage to check on Hours of Operation (the night before a busy holiday weekend) as they are not posted anywhere online. Guy answers abruptly: "The answer to your question is 10 o'clock." Me: "I'm sorry? Hello?" Rude guy: "It's 10 o'clock." Me: "Oh, you guys are open until 10?" Rude guy: "Yes. We get a thousand phone calls a night with the SAME question." Me: "Oh. I'm sorry.... it's just that, it's not posted anywhere online." Rude guy: "Yeah, well. We live in reality." Me: "I'm sorry??" Rude guy: "We are here 'now' in reality. We don't live on the internet." Me: "Ok......??? Sorry to bother you." So just like the rest of this backwards town here's one more business that does everything they can to alienate customers, a captive audience that keeps them alive all year long during these 3 short months. One of the few, if only, liquor stores in Brigantine. Prices are a little higher than your average booze store but they can be given location. Needless to say, there is always a long line here, they're rarely fully staffed at the registers. Their wine selection isn't all that - depending on when you go, there may be a lot less on the shelves than a regular liquor store. The staff doesn't bring much to the table in terms of recommendations or service. But when you need to get your drink on, it will get the job done. read more

I wish the other reviews were better. This store was answering calls like mine about hours on Christmas Eve. But not nasty. I found 2 very good wines, one I haven't seen in other wine stores for a good long while. It was well priced and I was happy to have it. Yesterday, I stopped in about 10 minutes before closing and was locked out. I was told they close when they close, so their hours are liberal. Luckily, I went to Joe Canal's before we went to Brigantine a couple of days beforehand. I got the opportunity to participate in a wine tasting, which was excellent, and stocked up beforehand (thankfully) . If you are looking for quality wine...take the time to go to Joe Canal's about 20 min away, because the inventory here is very limited. As far as the beer selection, there were more empty sections of the cooler than expected. The beer coolers here are limited and have a minimal selection, so be prepared to go to your backup beverage. The staff is about as helpful as you can expect from shore town personnel, so if you want a 12 pack of lite beer 30 minutes before closing you will be fine...otherwise take the time to go to Joe Canal's in Mays Landing. read more
