My first appointment was 1-1/2 HOURS! When have you EVER had that much time with a doctor? She looked over my paperwork, and said the restless leg will be a piece of cake, but the jaw swelling, THAT intrigued her. I've been dealing with the jaw swelling for over 15 years and have seen over seven doctors. The last doctor told me it was allergies and it happens a lot (I do not know anyone who has had the same symptoms) and told me I could take up to TEN allergy medications a day. What? I called, and they said it would probably be six months before I could get in. I said no problem. They called back the next day with a cancellation, and I was able to get in on that Friday. I met with Benson, a very nice and caring person, and explained how the procedure would go. I went once a week for six weeks. Then I had to travel, so I was away also; I had used up what insurance would cover. He made some good suggestions which I implemented, but probably the best thing I did was the week-long vacation that I stayed off it. It still bothers me from time to time, but I have ways of making it work. The place they have their services in is a one-hundred-year-old building, which is charming but has uneven floors if that is a concern of yours. Also, I tried to never use the restroom facilities there, as the sink was lined with dirt and the toilet wasn't much better. They have a lot of people still masking (which is fine; I totally understand that), but they apparently aren't concerned with the dirt you can see. One oddity I observed was that the needles were put in my hand, but as I was lying on the table, Benson would use my stomach as a place to hold his supplies until he needed them. Do you know how awkward it is to have someone grab things off of your stomach to use in a procedure? I probably should have said something, but I thought it was a one-off until it happened again. So, the procedures themselves were good but probably need to fine-tune a few things.

I have been to other places but none are as good as Gretchen is. I first came you Gretchen for a torn rotator cuff issue. She had me back with motion in two treatments. It feels great. She has a gentle touch and a very calm vioce. I took my husband here for his neck. He jumped out if an escavator on a job site and and twisted it to the point he could not turn it to side. She fixed him up with one treatment. Then I took him back again for his elbows. The Dr wanted to give him cortisone shots like they had done before. But I convinced him to go back to Gretchen and she took care if both elbow with no cortisone in 2 treatments. That was sober a year ago and still no pain. All it would have taken is a simple blood test and a logical mind. After all those years (and all that money) I went to another Doctor of Naturopathy who, after hearing my story of symptoms and struggle, doing a full exam (which Dr. Andersen never did), and running a simple blood test, I am undergoing treatment for Lyme Disease and it seems to be helping. Dr. Andersen was not pleased that I decided to see another practitioner and refused to give me a copy of my medical records, though I offered to pay for them. I called and left messages. I spoke to her personally. I sent several emails. And still did not receive a copy of my records that are my legal right to have. I sent a certified letter in the mail only to have her refuse to sign for it. Next, I am going to have to hire an attorney just to get my records. This is horrible and unprofessional and suspicious. I've sense talked to others in Newport, Oregon who have attempted to use her for their medical care, but quickly (unlike me) learned that she is manipulative and dishonest, and really knows very little about the healing modalities she recommends. I wish I had realized this about her, before, but I was in such a vulnerable, fragile state due to my chronic condition. I put too much trust in her, did not listen to my suspicions, and wasted several years and a lot of money.
