Went here this morning with my 8 year old daughter and a couple friends. The owner , in the blue…read morepolo today, comes up to us while on the first tee and tells me that I can't have my daughters clubs in the same bag as mine and that " if she's old enough to play she's old enough to carry her bag". This happened in front of another group of people who were appalled. This clown was told that I just spent $72 at this place and he told me he can't help that. He then began to threaten to have us removed if I didn't comply with his nonsense. My daughter was very upset and after some choice words with this spineless pansy he cowered into the store to not be seen again. I am local and we have been going there for years. Never again and nobody we know or family will ever go again. Watch who you act a fool with. We carry weight. He also is a key board commander so his response should tell the story also.

As a result, we unknowingly booked two tee times. When we arrived and tried to explain the situation, we were met with a surprisingly hostile response rather than assistance. We were also disappointed by the way our teenage golfers were treated. Because they were not wearing collared shirts, staff immediately threatened to ban them from the course for life. While we understand and respect dress code requirements, the manner in which the issue was addressed felt unnecessarily harsh and unwelcoming. Throughout the round, there were also course personnel who yelled at us when we accidentally made a wrong turn on the course, which added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. On the positive side, we were ultimately able to play our round, and the golf cart staff was outstanding. They were friendly, helpful, and provided excellent customer service, which was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing experience. Avalon has a nice course and some great employees, but improvements in customer service, communication, and the online reservation process would go a long way toward creating a more welcoming experience for golfers and families.

I've been coming to Cape May for 28 years and I'm pretty sure they haven't shopped for prizes since the first year I was here. Most of the games haven't changed either. Visited Kiwanis Park this week after beach time at Higbee. My son needed play time to run out some energy because he is still getting used to the beach and it's not his favorite right now, much to my dismay. Kiwanis made my toddler's day! He had a ball on the playstructure, swings, and just running around on the lawn. He loved watching the fountain in the pond, which I was happy to see still running in November. The posted rules say dogs aren't allowed, but various locals were walking their dogs all through this park. The park isn't huge, definitely no walking trail or means of real exercise, except for the basketball court, which is a half-court size. For leisure, picnicking, playground, etc. it is a great space, cuted up with the pond view. Private parking lot is down Leroy's way, the small lane at the entrance.
