Reserved 5 days in advance because I knew it would be raining on Saturday 5/23, Memorial Day weekend. When I got there at 730 to check in for our 8 to 9 reserved lane, they told us they lost everyones reservation and couldnt take us. They have a waiting list but theres too many people on it. I prepaid $50 for 5 people for 1 hour including shoes, they were charging more for walk ups. Woman behind the counter said if she could make it right, she would. How about a discounted coupon for next time? Anything. Oh and she said they tried calling everyone but couldn't reach everyone and "ran out of time so stopped trying". So she had my phone number even though she lost my reservation and still never called us to find the time? The place is dirty, old and badly in need of renovations. There is a new bowling alley in Rio Grande 100x better, they also probably won't rip you off like this place. Thanks for ruining our weekend plans and doing nothing about it when we arrived, not even offering us a discount or a free pass for the trouble of scheduling our night around this. read more

New owners have done a fantastic job. Food was good and cheap! The lanes were in great shape and the bumpers and little dragon helper for the young one was a hit. We purchased the 2 hour package that included 2 hours of bowling, shoes, a large pizza and pitcher of soda for $80. The staff was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed. Restrooms were spotless and snack bar has great food with really great prices. I will definitely visit again. read more

We were in the middle of our when they shut the game. They wouldn't let us finish our game. It was 10pm they advertised they close at 11pm. No excuse. Ill never go back. By doing something like that because the owner is not around and you want to close early so they can go home is really selfish to your paying customers. You ruined a night that would of been nice. Really unprofessional place... I get it, it's a bowling alley, but there's absolutely no excuse to be disrespectful when you are asking basic questions to an employee. Nonetheless, really bad costumer service here. As a side note, I'm appalled by some of the responses that the owner is providing on negative reviews (when they seem to be very valid). I'm not sure how anyone runs a business when they are incapable of hearing constructive criticism. Don't get defensive, listen to the constructive criticism and take action. No need to be a bully unless you want your business run into the ground. Word of mouth spreads fast, so I hope the owner can grow as a person to prevent this business from failing. Super clean, very family friendly atmosphere. Safe parking area too. The lanes are traditional wood, which is a very different experience compared to most places today where the lanes are synthetic with heavy oil patterns, so you'll have to change your strike shot. VERY cool to try if you never have bowled this type of lane. The games are by the hour, which isn't great, but I understand their take now post-pandemic when everyone takes forever and is self centered. Reasonably priced, bowled 3 people for an hour for $30 ($10 each). read more

Disappointed...didn't even get to bowl! My disabled brother who loves to bowl could not access this place, there are only steps to get upstairs to go bowling. In 2018 you would think that there would be an elevator or a stair rider or something, but not here. I called and spoke to the manager who said due to the building's age they are exempt from ADA law. I doubt they have been open non-stop, but whatever. In a building this size, in a resort town there should be access to bowling for everyone. From the other reviews sounds overpriced and consultant problems with the score and mechanics. When in Wildwood, skip bowling and mini-golf ***Update*** 5/20/18 the owner responded to my review, appalled that I would leave such a review. Unfortunately, everything I wrote is true. The only positive is that he claims he is working on having access for everyone, I only hope this is true. Although the owner mentions a conversation on Facebook, he never answered any of my questions. I filed a complaint with the ADA, to let them sort this out. read more

There's a reason we've been coming to Wildwood for decades and have never come here. First of all, who is closed on Wednesdays and Sunday's? Secondly, they arbitrarily open when it's raining, which you wouldn't know from the website, unless you called. So we called, fingers crossed, and they confirmed they were opening because of the rain, without any mention of operating hours. Great, we thought, except we arrive at 733 and the kid at the counter tells us they're closing at 8 and no more lanes will be given out. I will never understand why businesses decide not to keep regular business hours and then complain when no one comes in. Closing whenever you feel like has a horrific trickle down effect on your business, and we will certainly go out of our way in the future to visit any bowling alley besides this one. read more

What an experience! This bowling alley is immaculately maintained and squeaky clean. Service was prompt but not overbearing. The young gentleman who attended us was extremely professional and taught us a lot of bowling tricks. The food was very tasty, especially the pizza, and the bottomless drinks are A+. Price of bowling was on the fair to low end. Will definitely come again if I'm in the area because of how affordable and fun the place is. read more

Don't bother! The staff here is extremely rude. They do not care about customers, or if you come back. I was so shocked at the employees treatment of my family, I asked for a refund before we even put our shoes on to bowl. They refused. I will not be disrespected. Edit: This was in August The place itself is decent enough, but the service is terrible. Every party that came in were squeezed into lanes right next to each other, meanwhile there's 30 open lanes on the other end of the building. The bartender was no where to be found when my dad went to get a drink. When we finished bowling and we went to look for the arcade promised on signs outside. All we found was a pool table and some sort of antique game machine, both in the bar area (bartender was still missing). Figured my dad could have a drink while my mom and I played pool and my younger brother played whatever that game was. First my dad went to the front counter to ask about the bartender, while the rest of us settled in. Sure enough, in comes the bartender to tell us that no one under 21 is allowed to be in the bar area. What? I thought this was family place. We left and got dinner at a local PUB. read more

The owner is always on top of things and definitely one of the cleanest and well run bowling alleys in this area. Visited: Saturday - September 12, 2015 - 8PM The rain was not going to stop us so bowling was a fine alternative. I bowl about once a year - this was THAT once a year. The disco lights of every color dimly illuminated the darkened alleys. Choosing a ball was a challenge but, reading the instructions for tabulating scores was worse. I was forced to use my cell phone to illuminate the panel - no I don't have the flashlight feature. The alleys were clean and well maintained. In fact, the room was remarkably clean and well-maintained. A bar and concession stand with the usual food was available. Much better than 3 J's Bowl, the establishment is cleaner and brighter inside. I find the prices to be comparable to other bowling alleys in general. The alley offers tons of specials for families and groups like 49.95 for five bowlers for 2 hours along with pizza and coke. They also run fairly cheap specials on Friday and Saturday nights. I am definitely glad they opened this, I know that during the winter there is not much to do on the weekends I go visit my grandma and it is nice to find a place that my family can go that isn't a bar. read more

FORE! No wait... STRIKE! Sorry, forgot what sport we were talking about here. As I write this review, the establishment name here on YELP reads "3 J's Wildwood Bowl." Hopefully that will be updated soon. I don't know how long 3 J's was in business but they're out now and Island Bowl is in. The wife and I went bowling last night. We only played two games but we had fun. Hit a few strikes and spares here and there. Woot. Having never been to 3Js, I have no frame of reference but here's what we experienced yesterday. At 6:00pm on a Friday the place was a ghost town. We were literally the only bowlers. It was kinda eerie. I know that Island Bowl just recently opened but shouldn't there be at least a few people out having fun? When we arrived, parking was very confusing. Can you park in front? Where is the entrance? What about around back? On the street? I don't know! We eventually decided to park around the side of the building. Then we walked up to where the big Island Bowl sign is yet still, where the actual bowling alley was was hard to decipher. It really needs to be labeled better. Perhaps that's part of the reason why no one is there. Anyway, the alley is upstairs on the second floor. Walk in and start climbing. The attendant who set us up was sadly not very knowledgeable of the prices. It took some fumbling before he told us the difference between paying for an hour of unlimited bowling vs. paying by the game. We think that the price per game was $4.25 each and shoes were $3 each. By that math, we should have paid $4.25 x 2 (bowlers) x 2 (games) = $17 + $6 (shoes) = $23. But somehow it came out to $26. Maybe I heard him wrong or maybe my math is off but I think he overcharged us by three bucks. I only realized this about halfway through our second game and by that point, it was too late to bring it up again. Whatever. The lanes themselves are very clean and new-looking. The pins, when you smash 'em hard, make a very satisfying sound. And the balls are very shiny and fluorescent. The seats however are still outdated as are the scoring machines. Hopefully they will be updating both in the coming months or year. My biggest pet peeve was that there were no big screens hanging from the ceiling. In nicer bowling alleys, you have the screen in front of you that is mirrored up above. Maybe it's a dumb wish, but it's one I would like to see come true for Island Bowl. There was a snafu during the 7th frame of our second game. I knocked down 6 pins on my first ball and the rack fell and dragged forward to knock the rest down, thereby resetting the frame and robbing me of my second ball. I sought help from the attendant (who had nothing else to do as there were still no other bowlers in the entire place) and he came down and, to his credit, basically told me to just throw two consecutive gutters, manually erase my 7th frame score of 6, and bowl the frame over again. I did, and it worked. But it was annoying. I guess these things happen, even in the best of bowling alleys. When we were wrapping up our second (and final) game, another couple began to play. Hopefully more people showed up as the night went on but I have no way of knowing. Island Bowl does have potential but they aren't there yet. I hope they get there and I hope they improve their overall business. Oh and for the record, I bowled a 154 and a 141. Not bragging. Also not dissatisfied with the scores considering I haven't played in nearly two years. read more

Where to begin. I've come a crossed many bowling centers in my lifetime being an avid competitive bowler for as long as twenty years but, not one has shown me as much disrespect and overall rudeness than this establishment. League bowling should have its competitive nature of course however, I have personally witnessed verbal and physical abuse directed towards bowlers by bowlers. This behavior seems perfectly acceptable by island bowls code of conduct and policies considering staff members seem to not be disgruntled in the slightest by this seemingly archaic behavior. In fact, some of this behavior I have witnessed being an attribute of the actual employees themselves. I'm fully aware that controlling the behavior of people that don't work here is sometimes difficult but, with the right preventative practices in place customers can feel safe to participate in the activities that Island Bowl has to offer. As for certain employees, there should be no acceptable excuse as to why they are either allowing this behavior to happen or partake in this behavior themselves. I was recently a victim of such distasteful and unprofessional actions. One of Island Bowls employees threatened me face to face and made me feel as though i would have to physical defend myself based upon the demeanor in which the person was confronting me. read more

I would've given the place a four but the person who was working. I'm not sure who it was, but he was an older gentleman with a terrible attitude towards his employees. Yelling at him when we had came a little bit early. When he nicely asked the person if we could come in he yelled how ot was not 12 yet (it was 11:57). When we got there the bowling was fun other than a few dented balls here and there. Other than the employee the bowling was fun. But the guy was a complete jerk and is lucky we gave the place their business. Would go back. On rainy days good luck finding a lane as there was a 2hr wait the other day we tried. read more

Outside near the bowling alleys are so many arcade games I lost count. I strongly suggest you try out this place for a great night of family fun. This bowling alley has come a LONG way and has become quite enjoyable to bowl at. I know they can't renovate everything at once but they have made some LONG needed improvements. New ball returns (the old ones were all busted), new synthetic pin decks, which really boost the pin action (helped me score a 245 which is my highest score ever), and even the bathrooms are immaculate!!!! Not very many bowling allies I've seen have such clean bathrooms. Food was fine. Yeah the lanes may not be in the greatest of shape but little improvements, such as the synthetic pin decks, still make a huge difference. Good specials too. If I could give this trashy establishment and it's rude owner negative stars, I would. We are a family of three on vacation with my sister in law and her family of six. Since the weather isn't the greatest this weekend we figured a little outing of bowling for the four boys would nice. After spending way more money then I care to admit on eight bowlers for two hours on two lanes and renting shoes for everybody, we were appalled at the way we were treated. An hour or so into bowling my ten month old baby daughter needed to be changed; I went to the bathroom to find absolutely no changing station or area possible to get it done. I kindly went to the front desk and asked if maybe they had it in another area. The boy at the desk was nice but informed me that no unfortunately there was none on the premises. A little agitated, I said okay and walked to tell the rest of the group the situation. My husband walked and asked someone if they had any sort of private area in which we could take our baby to change her. He was told that he could change the baby right on the table in the middle of the dining area. Keep in mind it's a busy Saturday afternoon and there are other families eating their food less then an arms length from were was suggested. I'm sorry but I refuse to be "THAT PERSON". My sister in law and I went back to the same boy at the front desk and asked if they had a party room since I saw on the website that they do parties. At this point the boy was still polite but the owner and his dad jumped in and told me that I can take my kid to the bathroom and change her in the countertop with the sinks. When I said it's not suitable and no where big enough he said "it's been done before." Dumbfounded at the ignorance from this man, I said there's no way. At this point he turned, and said to me with a lot of attitude, AND I QUOTE, "you can go rent a hotel" and walked away. Out raged by this mans blatant lack of respect for his customers we went back to the group and decided that we didn't want to stay. I went back to the boy at the counter yet again and asked who the manager was and went to talk to him. When I got the manager and started to explain the situation the owners wife and daughter came so I had to tell them. As I explain the wife clearly back peddles and makes excuses for her husband, "you know, it's a busy Saturday afternoon, we are short staffed, things are crazy..." The excuses went on.. "I'll talk to him" every person that over heard what had happened was just as outraged as I. When they asked who the individual was, he was walking by and I pointed him out. As he walked passed his exact words were," yeah I said it, I'm an asshole," and he kept walking. Meanwhile not a single solution had been given to our problem that my baby had pooped and she needed to be changed before our twelve block walk home. This family did not offer any sort of compensation or materials good to even attempt to make us, THE CUSTOMER, happy. I have been in retail and customer service for about 7 years and I have NEVER met an animal so rude. UPDATE: Just a comment back at you Joseph: While I apologize for assuming your staff member was the owner, that does not excuse his demeaning attitude or unnecessary comments. I was not addressing him; he jumped up and the way he barked at me and my family made it seem like he was in charge. I would sincerely hope that you would reconsider having such a disrespectful staff member around because his actions make the business look bad. I would also have a talk to your employees and make sure they are aware that it is not okay to change a baby on the tables in the dining area; I know if I saw someone else doing that my family would be leaving. We are local and come here maybe every other month. Always find it to be clean, never overcrowded, staff polite & helpful. My daughter is disabled and struggles getting up there due to the large number of steps at each entrance (located above a restaurant), so I'd love to see it become more accessible, but we always have fun. Off-season is tough finding places that remain open on the island, so I love that we can count on this place even after "the season" is over :) My son had his birthday here in November and the owner, Joe, was very helpful in assisting with the reservation. We had about 20 guests after anticipating 15 and they quickly made an extra couple pies for the adults staying so no one had to wait, we are planning on coming back this year for his birthday. We were able to bring our own cake, and there was a table available for gifts; Seating was plentiful and the pizza was good! I definitely recommend this place! read more

Holy smokes! I stopped coming to this place 4 or 5 years ago because it was such a dump! Dirty, smelled of grease and totally rude staff. What a change and surprise! Clean with new restrooms in the bar (red pool table looks great!) and a new ladies room for my significant other. No more keys with pieces of wood to get into the bathrooms. Please has all new balls and the pins actually sounds like a bowling alley. Prices are like other places but they have a ton of new specials that make for an affordable night out. Bar prices really reasonable. Looks like a family running the place that really cares. Highly recommended so if you have not been back since they reopened in September you need to come back in and see the changes. Good Luck! read more
