shandell came to our home and performs a massage on my wife, however brief, and was also an associate of ours. She ended up having an episode or something and screamed and yelled at us and our daughter about things that were not even happening and we knew nothing about. we ended up having her removed from our home and had to call the police. she had her family members begin to harass us as well, demanding money. when she was to give. massage for a night free stay with us. Bad energy. may be suffering from mental illness. she also fraudulently bills insurance companies. be careful with this one! read more

The massage was okay. The therapist did talk non-stop throughout the massage, and some subjects were a bit uncomfortable (politics in particular). The therapist had a dog in the room with us who walked up and sniffed me a few times, definitely felt uncomfortable. The second time I went in I had a wonderful massage by another therapist who was very professional, kept talking to a minimum, and hit all the right spots. I requested her the next time I went in, she was on my reservation, but when I was brought back to a room, there was the dog "chewy", and the therapist who worked with me the first time. Decent massage. Weird experience. Masseuse was late for my appointment. I inquired about the free 30 minute massage for new clients posted on the window. This seemed to be a sore subject and doesn't mean what you think it means. What exactly it means, I still don't understand. Without going into details, I would describe my massage experience as awkward, unprofessional, and uncomfortable. We've all been in situations before where we are talking to a stranger, they are saying bizarre things, you realize they are a little off, and try to switch the conversation. This was that situation except you are topless and the questionable person is rubbing you. She had a dog with her. Personally, i love dogs so i didn't mind. Decent massage and she even gave me an extra 30 minutes but she talked the entire time! And I felt rude to not respond so I probably encouraged it by responding. And it wasn't just the talking, but it was all conspiracy theories. I literally just googled Helena massage and found her place and saw it was open during the lockdown (because she thinks it's a conspiracy.) I work in healthcare, and was trying to get a massage to relax. From the moment I walked in there was antimasking propaganda on the front door. It seems like she is living in the studio as well, because her dog was in the room during the massage, breathing heavily. She did not get the hint that I did not want to talk about my work, and started spouting off completely inaccurate medical information around covid. Listening to some crazy conspiracies is not what I was paying for. She did not get the hint and kept asking about my vaccine status, and if I was 'forced' to get vaccinated, etc. Really really uncomfortable. I am upset that I paid good money to listen to someone preach about their ludicrous views. Trust me, wait for a different therapist in town instead of the allure of getting in quickly here. There is a reason for the abundant openings. Additional review: I was overcharged for an additional $20 by this business that was not authorized whatsoever, after the massage. Now I have to go through the process of disputing the charge with my credit card. HORRIBLE! read more

My experience with Shandell was traumatic and horrifying. I was verbally assaulted while on the massage table and for fifteen minutes while leaving after my aborted massage. I feared for my emotional and physical safety in Shandell's presence. I hope no one else will ever fall victim to her attacks of misguided anger while in the vulnerable position of being a client on her massage table. Unfortunately, after reading other reviews (too late), I see that they already have. There are many other massage therapists who take their responsibility seriously and use their power with care and kindness. Here are the flabbergasting details: Shandell was flustered and stressed, and the office was chaotic. A very young dog, who was not well supervised, jumped on me multiple times, tore my coat, and chewed my hat. I did not get to do a thorough new client intake with Shandell or ask any questions beforehand. I received no welcome, and was not asked if I was comfortable or had any questions. As this was my first time there, I inquired about her advertisement for a new client special, and she became defensive and angry. I apologized for the misunderstanding and asked for clarification. She accused me of trying to cheat her and tell her how to run her business. She threatened that I either finish the massage, which had just begun, or leave and be billed for cancellation. All this while I am lying naked on the massage table, with Shandell standing over me. While delivering her ultimatum, she roughly pulled and popped my knuckles. Compared to others I have received, her "deep tissue massage" felt harsh and jabbing, like she was taking her anger out of me, which, it turns out, she was. I naturally told her I did not feel comfortable continuing. She stormed out of the room. After getting dressed, I tried to talk with Shandell and sort things out. For her part, she insulted, accused, and blamed me for fifteen or so minutes. I never raised my voice or returned the insults. Mostly, I stood there dumbfounded, hoping she would calm down. She was beyond reason, and I left in shock after a coworker, who was witness, explained that talking with Shandell would not help at this point. I was billed the full amount for this terrible, violating experience. Shandell was beyond unprofessional, unethical, and displayed poor judgment and lack of self-control. Shandell has apparently disabled reviews on the Ocean Spirit Massage facebook page, where her responses to criticism were puerile, petty, and unprofessional. read more

I was window shopping and Shandell came to the door and invited me in to answer any questions I may have had, despite it being closing time. I felt comfortable to schedule an appointment the next day. I travel a lot, and it's hard to find a reputable massage therapist when out of town. I was busier than expected with work and couldn't make my original appt and called as early as I could. Shandell was very understanding and was able to get me in later the same day! I had a very good massage, with the right amount of pressure, as well as focusing on my trouble spots we had talked about on my intake interview. I went back to my hotel to write this review. I was quite shocked at what I was reading about the negative comments! They did not match my great experience at all. Yes, there is a dog that is well behaved and never once licked me: in fact he practically ignored me. I had some conversation, but minimal and not of conspiracy theories! If you don't want to talk during your massage, then you need to let your therapist know at the time, not complain about it in a public review! I would return to this place of business again. read more

She told me to come back in 10 minutes but then she wasn't there so I tried another 10 minutes and she was there but remarked that I was late and she couldn't do it now. I explained that I had just returned again from finding the store vacant and she was VERY rude about it. I was so grateful for Jessica being in on a Sunday morning. Conveniently located on the walking mall in Helena, this massage therapist was awesome, I dock one star only for the studio. My 80 minutes was over FAR to quickly. I went from having an incredibly painful morning to being able to enjoy a day out with my kids in this great town. Great customer service! When trying to purchase a gift for a friend, I ran into some obstacles. I live a thousand miles away and am not familiar with the Helena area. I found Ocean Spirit Massages online. I didn't have any reccomendations for good therapists i the area and I knew I would be taking risks by making a purchase blindly without any past experiences of the company. I spoke to the owner at great length. Explained what I was trying to-do, gave some info about my bff and Shandell extended great customer service. I am so grateful for her offering me a pampering package, she mailed the gift directly to my friend, and we even had a pleasnt conversation on unrelated topics. My fears and anxieties vanished!! My boyfriend bought me a massage certificate to this place. I sat waiting as my massage therapist, the owner was 40 minutes late for my appointment. When she came out of the room she apologized and said her client needed extra care and attention today. By this time her next appointment after me had arrived so she gave me over to a male massage therapist. He was good but new, there was construction going on downstairs and pounding of hammers the entire time. I was unable to relax due to the noise of construction, some random fluorescent light going on and off in the room and kids running around. The walls do not go all the way up to the ceiling so the is no relaxing because you can hear everyone and everything going on in the building. The owner apologized and said if I give her another chance she will comp me a 1/2 hour. I didn't even receive the cupping along with the massage my boyfriend paid for. Unfortunately this place is ran poorly and I'll never recommend or go back. read more
