They have a small retail store on Gateway but most importantly they have the right people. It is a family and important part of the Edmonton community. They have regular dives scheduled at WEM and annual holiday packages at some of the best dive sites in the world. My spouse and I plan to dive, travel and take further courses with this team. We went to a lot of different little dive shops to find out what we should be looking for. Northwest Scuba is a great little shop. The man working was so knowledgeable! He was obviously a very seasoned diver and even recommended places for us to go in Thailand. It was awesome! He talked to us a bit about the different equipment and explained the differences in masks and flippers (fins) which was incredibly helpful because we didn't really know what to look for. We didn't buy anything from Northwest Scuba because their equipment is very expensive. They sell to very serious divers. We just wanted to snorkel a bit! Nonetheless, he educated us a lot and we were extremely grateful for that. We ended up buying a cheaper version of one of the sets he showed us and they were perfect for what we needed.

The most arrogant egotistical shop I've ever been in. Toxic. By the time you leave you feel sickened by the ego and rudeness. I will always love diving..The Dive Outfitter is a DIVE due to customer service. I have never stepped foot in a dive shop with such lack of people skills. Never assume or judge your customers. Maybe the customers are there just to the experience your shop and don't need your supplies. Customer service is still a thing in this world. Many people who dive travel so keep your shop pleasant ..word gets around.

So being the snorkelling and scuba-diving lovers we are we decided to check it out pre-BBQ meal. It's a small store but they pack a lot of merchandise and service into the place. They have a good selection of scuba and snorkel gear to check out. You can sign-up for classes. You can join them for pool nights and try out some equipment you might have had your eyes on. Good way to brush up on your skills or to test out some equipment before buying. They also have video nights once a month. You can check out footage from scuba locations around the world. They even coordinate scuba trips to some of these locations so you can check them out before you decide what trip you may want to book. They also do equipment rentals, repairs, and air tank fills. If you want to get certified to scuba dive their website says "You will receive over 20 hours of pool & classroom training and another 10 hours during your open water dives by a qualified instructor. Don't compromise with the "get certified quick" courses that are out there providing the bare minimum personal attention to just get you through the course!". As a certified diver I have to concur with this. If you are ever in a dive shop and they have quickie certification courses I would not shop there. Diving is a very dangerous sport and having all of the classroom training is VERY important. I was very pleased to find this store and we will add it to our list of scuba/snorkel shops that will get our business for sure!

brought my bike, which i bought used & which had recently developed some problems, in for their…read moreminor ($80) tune-up, and some other repairs (something to do with the pedals & the rear-wheel quick-release was broken). The bike mechanic told me it would be ~ $110; anymore, and he'd give me a call before proceeding. This was on a Tuesday, maybe an hour before they closed. He had warned me that it might take a few days to work on the bike because they had been particularly busy that weekend. Thursday, around 6pm, he gave me a call, saying that the bike needed a lot more work, and, in light of how much said work would cost, asking me if I really wanted to go thru with approx $200 work on the bike rather than buying a new one. I really respected his opinion and honesty; and after talking to me for a while, I decided to go ahead with the $200 in repairs. The bike was ready for pick-up on Saturday. It was exactly the price he said ($200) and apart from not replacing the quick-release with another quick-release, all the work done on it was excellent. Thus far, the bike has never run as well. Would definitely recommend them and will return for future service.
