I have been numerous times diving. You meet great people lots of fun and so much beauty. However, never step foot trying to dive through The Dive outfitters in Edmonton. The most arrogant egotistical shop I've ever been in. Toxic. By the time you leave you feel sickened by the ego and rudeness. I will always love diving..The Dive Outfitter is a DIVE due to customer service. I have never stepped foot in a dive shop with such lack of people skills. Never assume or judge your customers. Maybe the customers are there just to the experience your shop and don't need your supplies. Customer service is still a thing in this world. We found this shop just by chance. We planned an evening out for BBQ at Smokehouse BBQ on the west end and this store just happened to be in the same mall right beside it. So being the snorkelling and scuba-diving lovers we are we decided to check it out pre-BBQ meal. It's a small store but they pack a lot of merchandise and service into the place. They have a good selection of scuba and snorkel gear to check out. You can sign-up for classes. You can join them for pool nights and try out some equipment you might have had your eyes on. Good way to brush up on your skills or to test out some equipment before buying. They also have video nights once a month. You can check out footage from scuba locations around the world. They even coordinate scuba trips to some of these locations so you can check them out before you decide what trip you may want to book. They also do equipment rentals, repairs, and air tank fills. If you want to get certified to scuba dive their website says "You will receive over 20 hours of pool & classroom training and another 10 hours during your open water dives by a qualified instructor. Don't compromise with the "get certified quick" courses that are out there providing the bare minimum personal attention to just get you through the course!". As a certified diver I have to concur with this. If you are ever in a dive shop and they have quickie certification courses I would not shop there. Diving is a very dangerous sport and having all of the classroom training is VERY important. Had a BAD experience here. Spent close to 600 dollars on Snorkeling equiptment for a trip to Cancun for my wife and I. They were SO helpful as long as your spending money. Well while in Cancun my fins didn't fit at all. My feet swelled so there was no way I could get them on, period. My wife got her's on but hated they way fit and felt. So I went back with the fins and first was asked for my sales slip which I couldn't find. On my second time back with sales slip and fins was told that the fins could not be resold and they wouldn't take them back in trade for different models, more expensive with booties. SO if you buy from them and take it out of the store, IT'S YOURS. NO RETURN unless you NEVER put it on, try it in the water or take it out of packaging. I'll never go back. Rich read more
