Good deals and all but really understaffed and staff that seems to change everyday and clueless to how their machines work and system work.

I used to go here every week because I thought it was pretty cool. Recently I had gone in after…read morespending a lot of money two weeks before and got accused on not paying for an item. The seller recognized me and was questioning if I put the clothing in another section and was wondering where her money was. They were quick to blame me but I had the receipts. The two older women at the counter denied being there when I purchased the stuff. I pulled up the date and they magically remembered. The tag was on their invoice and they said they just never charged me. Told me to pay for it, which I did and tried to charge me more than what it was priced at. I was nice about it but after with the rude customer service and inability to acknowledge their mistake they lost a good customer. Looks like I'm thrifting elsewhere.

Enormous, 2 floor antique store that seems to go on forever…read more The first floor is absolutely jam-packed with little rooms full of various different antiques, furniture, clothing, jewelry, etc. It's awesome. Each "booth" is stuff owned by a different seller, and so it's much like going to an antique show, but without the seller behind the desk to haggle with. Totally fun to browse, and who knows- you may find that special little gift or knick-knack that fits into your home. The second floor is sparse - and creepy. There's one room up there that looks like it's been forgotten. Looks like a "panic room" to me! What did this old store used to be anyhow? But it's a great place - you can kill a lot of time here if you like looking for things with character.

It rained all week during our annual Scituate vacation. With the final closing of our childhood hangout shop The Quarterdeck, we road-tripped in search of a new salvage-junk-used-thrift-stuff store. How lucky are we! We found it! Christine runs a tight salvage "ship" with her rabbit warren of rooms featuring clean, smart vignettes of items that transport buyers right into the setting of the glory days of her items. A shabby-chic cotton tablecloth over a vintage Formica kitchen table that is host to a collection of green milk glass and a pile of lusciously displayed fabric cooking aprons. A child's wagon full of clown figures from cloth to glass, just waiting for someone to pull them home (I opted instead for the awesome vintage metal bowl embossed with the depiction of a happy lobster!) A hardcover book from 1969 that claims to be "1000 Jokes For Kids" and yet showcases such gems as "Why are politicians like lobsters?" I'll tell you - because they both change color when they find themselves hot water! I bought it along with a 1949 volume "40 Rainy Day Games." A delightful little book where you can learn how to make a Susie Shy Label Doll. The adult kids in the family are delighted. Claudia also help me dig through Fiestaware, Blendo glass, record albums, vintage chairs and metal art, chenille bedspreads (Oh yes, ladies of a certain age who lolled dreamily on those flowered nubs while blue-eyed, puka-shell neckace wearing Bobby Sherman - our Justin Bieber - sang to us out of a record player way back when), lobster pots that catch lobsters and lobster pots that catch is cooked in, candlesticks, stained glass, crockery, old Polaroid cameras, almanacs, lamps, glass beads, old time sports pennants, local homemade honey (!), new candles and on. And on. The conversation is lively, like a corner barbershop and on my first visit I spent over an hour chatting with another customer about paperback books from the 70s, movies, Burt Reynolds, mustaches and whether or not I thought it may rain. Loved it! From mid-century metals to country primitive woods, Salvage Chic is a sorely needed floating, undulating retro island swimming strongly in an ocean where most small bookstores and groovy "junk shops" are no more than memories. Yet there really is no junk here. Everything is priced to sell and yet every item is truly priceless. I trekked my treasures back to Miami and when I finish this review, I will fill up my online cart. Because yes, Salvage Chic ships!

I tried to file a complaint on the website, but apparently what I wrote, timed out, most likely because it was taking me 15 minutes to express my distaste for the treatment Myself, along with my 7yr old daughter, and 8yr old autistic son, received today. All over an empty gift card that he had grabbed off the display. The guy at the register was rude, and instead of telling me the policy proceeded to berate me in front of other customers. He then yelled across the front of the store to his manager. She then came over and started off rude and condescending. They both made me feel like a piece of crap, and devastated my child. They made him return the gift card to the display by himself, as they would no let me leave the register until my "transaction was finished." It took a solid three minutes before they explained to me that it was against policy because of the serial numbers on the card. It's honestly disgusting to me to have encountered this behavior, especially since I've worked in retail and the food industry, my entire life. I've seen some bad service, but this wasn't just bad, it made me feel so demeaned and embarrassed. I was treated as an inconvenience by the cashier, as well as the manager. My poor son was brought to tears, and the guest behind me even said "I'm so sorry this is happening to you, I don't understand either." I walked into this location in such a good mood. I helped a woman in the aisle, as there was no employee to be found. My daughter even picked stuff off the floor to "help the workers". Apparently a woman and her elderly mother were also an inconvenience, as they were waiting in line in the register next to me when the employee turned off the light and said "I'm closed ", also leaving the same elderly woman(who was barely holding onto the cart might I add), literally with their stuff on the counter, then slammed the register, and just walked away(come to find out 5 minutes later that it was the manager). I understand that there are policies, and I understand that those employees need to follow those policies... But it was literally handled in the most asinine way. To the point we're not only will I never return to this location, but all 7 of my siblings, and my parents, who also frequent that store, will also not be making purchases to support this store. These employees chose to work retail. They chose to work customer service. Just because they're not happy with their choice in a job, doesn't mean they get to pass that poor attitude and miserable demeanor onto Dollar Tree's patrons. Cool. We can't let my atypical child take a piece of paper home? It could have been politely explain to us, in a professional manner, instead of treating us like trash.
