They have two gigantic parking lots, and one of them is always…read moreempty all week, I was working a job across the street and sleeping in my car and I needed a temporary place to park but the church allowed me only to revoke it the same day for no reason, and they cited that there was no parking available for their own people, which is an outright lie because one of the lots was incredibly large and empty except for one car all week. They threatened to tow me. I said I would be happy to submit to any sort of background check, but it wasn't enough for them. Generally if you go to church they try to help you and try to give you some resources if you're in need, this church does the opposite as they give you the boot and threaten you. I'm not impressed. I think it's a case of "not in my backyard." So I cannot recommend this church at all. The pastor was nice at first, but once he found out that I needed a place to stay he got kind of rude and it was not a good conversation over the phone, he was very harsh and demanding and insisting that I would not be allowed there long-term, even part time, even on just certain days or regular work hours in the empty lot as I requested. Even just having a few nights a week would be helpful, but they were not allowing it. They're hoarding a giant parking lot all to themselves and won't let anybody use it for any reason, and then they complain about not having parking for their own members, when a giant lot sits empty all week long. They even put in a new gate just to keep the people out that were using it, all two of us. When I tried to press a bit more about this issue they muttered some thing about liability, but only after I mentioned "hey if you were upfront with me and told me it was about liability that would be one thing", so they're just basically covering their butts. I hate when people outright lie or promise something that they can't deliver, change their mind for absolutely no reason other than they just don't want to see an ugly car, or whatever the issue is. There was no reason that they couldn't have let me park there even just during normal workday hours or something. The lot is absolutely gigantic and it's far away from the main sanctuary anyway so I don't see what the problem is.

The church is relatively large, but congregation, was really small, which felt nice in a way. (Although our kids were pretty much the only kids in their children's church) Since then, the church has become less traditional and more somewhat modern, but still super kind and loving people. It's still small in number, with exception of a lot more children and a more dynamic kids church program. I really love the worship and the overall message, so I definitely recommend visiting and becoming part of this congregation, especially if you're looking for a place to belong and serve.

How is this in any way appropriate to say to anyone? my mother was grieving her loved one, someone she didn't get to say goodbye to because he was in mexico and she left 20 years ago. furthermore, I had another experience with her while i was going to sunday school years ago, i was talking to a friend trying to catch up on assignments i missed the week prior and she didn't like that i was whispering to my friend while another sister was speaking so she said "if you keep talking while sisters talking, your legs going to break again" because i had just gotten surgery and was using crutches. again, how is this in any way appropriate to say to a child? i'm not the only person whose has negative experiences with her. she's a disturbing person. en español: Solo quiero que todos sepan sobre la experiencia de mi familia con la hermana Gloria. I always felt safe with the glass windows to check in on your kiddos and the paging system. I am forever grateful to the many bible focused translated to real life messages we heard from ( now retired) Pastor Meeks and Pastor James and the children's ministry and all the teachers that helped form my children's faith in Jesus. My kids loved going to church on Sunday ( bringing home verses on coloring pages and talking about the topics discussed, the prayers, and all the fun games they played. Then every Monday they shared with friends and teacher about their fun time in church, they wrote about it too in their writing journals so much so, that it was evangelizing( without knowing it) to their friends starting in Kinder . Their excitement about Jesus and church was enough to encourage their little friends to mention Eastlake Church to their parents, they then helping to bring families to faith. Their elementary school teachers would pull me aside and say your children are praying for their classmates when they are sad or feel left out. Their faith even when they were so little was so bold that even in some school assignments there would be mention of their love for Jesus and faith in Jesus . As a married couple / family we joined many growth/small groups and made lasting friendships and found the much needed community we needed as a young family. These groups and the people in them encouraged us and helped to make us better people and brought us closer to Christ. The people in small groups let us know we had their support, encouragement, and prayers. We are forever grateful to Eastlake Church and how it helped form our family's faith.

I ended up getting baptized there because I felt accepted before I ever felt expected to believe. That approach made a lasting impression on me. Coming back over the last few years, though, I've personally felt a shift. The Father's Day service especially left me feeling uncomfortable. While I absolutely believe healthy masculinity and involved fathers are important, the message was framed around ideas like "culture is trying to redefine and dismantle manhood" and that masculinity is under attack. To me, it felt more focused on culture-war rhetoric than the welcoming spirit I remembered. Another moment that stood out was asking all the men to stand and publicly declare their commitment to God followed by everyone else. I actually preferred how the church used to handle these moments privately, emphasizing that faith is between you and God. This felt much more like social pressure. This is just my experience and others may feel differently hmm in fact I imagine some people might appreciate the direction they've taken. I think EastLake today will resonate most with people looking for a more traditional evangelical perspective on culture and gender. That just isn't the environment I personally connect with and it felt very different from the church I remember. There are still a lot of things EastLake does really well. The campus is beautiful, spacious, and very accessible. Parking is usually easy with two lots and when they're full you can park at Kohl's and walk over. The volunteers have always been incredibly kind and welcoming, the music production is genuinely impressive, and they have a separate building and programs for kids. If being inside a large auditorium isn't your thing you can also watch the service online or from the outdoor patio seating. Overall, it's a very polished experience and I just wanted to make sure to include that if this is still your vibe and so you know what to expect.

This place is a cult…read more I was lured into their Mens rehabilitation home and was convinced that if I left God would strike me dead. They said it was a one year program and they kept me held as a psychological prisoner for almost two years. That was 15 years ago and it wasn't until about 5 years ago that I began to truly heal (after years and years of psychotherapy) and unravel the evils that this organization enforced into my head. In the rehab homes, they will starve you, keep you sleepless, work you to the bone and pay you absolutely no money. All the money gets funneled upwards to the pockets of local church pastors, and they funnel money up to the bigwigs and "elders" of the church. Do the research online and you'll find ex-pastors (frequently excommunicated for questioning the structure and integrity of their practices) and ex members of the church who will affirm that this is a money-making cult where those at the top are DISGUSTINGLY wealthy, while those at the bottom (the mens and womens homes) live in abject poverty because "God wants it that way". Stay away.
