Great Neck Village is a convenient stop for a few grocery item if I'm headed home from an…read moreappointment on First Colonial Road, Anchored by a large remodeled Food Lion, the shopping center sits on the east side of First Colonial Road with an additional entrance on Mill Dam Road which borders it on the north side. Sitting adjacent & south of Great Neck Village is a similar sized shopping center. The two shopping centers provide close shopping & amenities to the surrounding Great Neck section of Virginia Beach. Another draw to the shopping center for me is the Bagel Baker, which offers New York style bagels and deli sandwiches. The shopping center stores have changed so much over the almost 40 years I've frequented it. Some of my old favorites, including a wonderful boutique where I found cute clothes and accessories, are long gone. So my current shopping at the center is focused on the above two businesses. For those who find it convenient there's a Dollar Tree, an Ice Cream store and businesses such as an insurance agency, hair & nail salons, a bank, ABC Store and more. The Taco Bell brings back wonderful memories of picking up lunch for my son when he was a student at nearby Cox High School. A unique aspect of Great Neck Village is the path to a Seniors apartment complex behind the center off Mill Dam Road. Residents who can't drive have convenient access to groceries. The drug store previously there has closed, which I'm sure makes prescription access much harder for them. Thank you for providing this much needed service to this community. As is the case with most of the older shopping centers in Virginia Beach, Great Neck Village received a face lift a number of years ago. Because of the quick grocery items pickup & access to bagels I'll continue to frequent Great Neck Village.

Now there's a liquor store, Dollar Tree, numerous restaurants and a Sweet Frog frozen yogurt. Located within walking distance is a Senior Living facility. Many of the residents no longer drive and having a shopping area where they can easily walk to for groceries, dinner or various other needs is a blessing for so many.

Kempsville Marketplace has a wide variety of businesses & eateries. It includes my "go to" market…read morefor Korean Pears, which I cannot have a breakfast without. There are two eateries that are currently relatively new customer favorites. Mixed in are neighborhood essentials, such as insurance agent, fast food, hair salon & even a dance studio. An out parcel contains an additional fast food choice. The International Food Store is located in the building once occupied by the now defunct Farm Fresh. The shopping center anchors the northeast corner of the intersection on Baxter Road & Princess Anne Rd. The location isn't just convenient for Kempsville. It's an easy drive from the Shore Drive corridor via Independence Blvd. And it's a must for me to get my staple of Korean pears.

The location across from Walmart on the corner of Lynnhaven Parkway and Princess Anne is a busy one. There is signage off both roads and Lynnhaven had a new one installed months ago. With dozens of visits I would best describe the lot as mostly free of debris and sidewalks the same. The parking lot was recently resealed with new markings and looks great! The main entrance off Lynnhaven has a median that's landscaped with flowers and shrubbery. A side entrance is off Dahlia. The main anchors are Dollar Tree and Goodwill. Approximately 15 other stores complete the strip. There are also a few businesses in the parking lot. The Exxon gas is on the corner. Closer to Lynnhaven a not so attractive building housing an Oriental restaurant combined with pawn shop, Shell gas and Hardee's. I mention for reference only as they are not managed by the Breeden Group, so not Parkway Shopping. I assume built in late 70, to early 80's with a newer facade installed in the last 15 years. It looks good for its age. Capital Crepe located beside Kung Fu Tea is a business that I've been dying to try. Other types of stores are an oriental grocery, tax service, animal hospital, laundering service, nails, pizza, bar and a seafood restaurant. So it is nice to have a variety. I will continue to come back and even try a few new stores. However, I can't bring myself to a rating above OK as a 3.5, rounding down seems appropriate.

There was a Food Lion anchoring the Shopping Center & I was out of my favorite bread. The center has plenty of parking, including handicapped spaces near the entrance to Food Lion. The businesses, other than the large Food Lion, were underwhelming, Sharing the center was a Bar, Puerto Rican Restaurant, Pizza Hut, Barber Shop, Nail Salon, Insurance Agent and a few other spots. Since this is located so far from my house I doubt I'll ever return. Isn't that a line from my favorite Robert Frost poem?

This is a good place to bring out-of-towners for shopping handmade goods in order to have a more authentic souvenir from a visit to the area. I'm not against grabbing a keychain at the airport, but this is for Moore specialized giftgiving and can be a fun place to shop for individuals to find a special birthday present . They routinely have pop-ups with different vendors in kiosks in the middle of the arcade. I would recommend anyone to stop by here in the course of running errands in the downtown area or if you have an occasion to be walking around the Norfolk TCC campus. The vendors are all very accommodating, and this is an accessible shopping experience for most people. If you have accommodation needs, I know that there are also printed menus and assistance for individuals who have mobility concerns.

However, it has suffered the fate of others and has several vacancies. Located off Independence Blvd in the Bayside area of Virginia Beach this late 60's, early 70's retail area has seen better days and is due for a facelift like others around town are undergoing. The lot has typically been tidy, it just needs new blacktop. The asphalt roofing is worn and missing shingles. Parking is plentiful and has never been an issue. The main anchor is Food Lion and Cafe Cinema. Both of those businesses have renovated. There are several vacancies including a bank. I do frequent Five Guys burgers. I hope the Harvey Lindsay group that manages is recommending a total upgrade of its facade. It's not that large and would be a draw to new tenants.

Good signage off the road, however the leasing agent has not removed businesses that have been closed for years like Stoley's The main strip has over a half dozen stores with anchors Subway off Mill Dam and Zoots Cleaners now shuttered and for lease. Other stores are Great Clips, Bella Dance and Cowboy Neil's Cantina. I find the structure pretty cool with light color stucco facade and barrel tile roof. The parking lot is maintained, however some debris is typically around. I will continue to be a regular due to Starbucks and Subway. 3.5 rounding up.
