The amazing Rt. 58 Delicatessen is located here, a charming treat yo' self establishment that sells delicious NYC/Jersey themed pastrami and reuben sandwiches and authentic NYC Cheesecake slices. Noms. It is SOOO good. If you haven't been, make a plan to go. I was seriously impressed. You will not leave hungry and you will def. have leftovers. Each sandwich has something like 2 pounds of meat on them. Lolly's, as mentioned, recently opened their second VAB shop in this plaza with an adorable little shop full of their goodies and a very friendly staff who are always happy to help, let you sample, and joke around. They change their flavors often so it's always a fun surprise to see what the new creations are. There is a Golf Galaxy store and a few other hobby stores inside this plaza and it's super easy to get to from the interstate and Town Center with loads of parking and about 4 entrances, one on each end with a stoplight so you can easily get out and go whichever direction you need. It's well maintained and the parking lot is free of huge potholes (important) and tons of trash. Storefronts are well-kept and signage is good. All in all, a win.

In this strip mall area there is a generous amount of parking and well maintained walkways if you want to take a stroll. You could plan to spend a few hours in this area with the assortment of businesses here. Fire Ninja, recently added Lolly's Creamery, the infamous Route 58 Delicatessen, Massage Envy just to name a few. It ranges from Italian to boba to charcoal chicken. Not a lot of chain locations but smaller businesses who depend on Yelpers such as yourself to help spread the word and to keep the doors open in difficult times. I would recommend and would revisit for my shopping and dining needs.

Great Neck Village is a convenient stop for a few grocery item if I'm headed home from an…read moreappointment on First Colonial Road, Anchored by a large remodeled Food Lion, the shopping center sits on the east side of First Colonial Road with an additional entrance on Mill Dam Road which borders it on the north side. Sitting adjacent & south of Great Neck Village is a similar sized shopping center. The two shopping centers provide close shopping & amenities to the surrounding Great Neck section of Virginia Beach. Another draw to the shopping center for me is the Bagel Baker, which offers New York style bagels and deli sandwiches. The shopping center stores have changed so much over the almost 40 years I've frequented it. Some of my old favorites, including a wonderful boutique where I found cute clothes and accessories, are long gone. So my current shopping at the center is focused on the above two businesses. For those who find it convenient there's a Dollar Tree, an Ice Cream store and businesses such as an insurance agency, hair & nail salons, a bank, ABC Store and more. The Taco Bell brings back wonderful memories of picking up lunch for my son when he was a student at nearby Cox High School. A unique aspect of Great Neck Village is the path to a Seniors apartment complex behind the center off Mill Dam Road. Residents who can't drive have convenient access to groceries. The drug store previously there has closed, which I'm sure makes prescription access much harder for them. Thank you for providing this much needed service to this community. As is the case with most of the older shopping centers in Virginia Beach, Great Neck Village received a face lift a number of years ago. Because of the quick grocery items pickup & access to bagels I'll continue to frequent Great Neck Village.

Now there's a liquor store, Dollar Tree, numerous restaurants and a Sweet Frog frozen yogurt. Located within walking distance is a Senior Living facility. Many of the residents no longer drive and having a shopping area where they can easily walk to for groceries, dinner or various other needs is a blessing for so many.

There are two eateries that are currently relatively new customer favorites. Mixed in are neighborhood essentials, such as insurance agent, fast food, hair salon & even a dance studio. An out parcel contains an additional fast food choice. The International Food Store is located in the building once occupied by the now defunct Farm Fresh. The shopping center anchors the northeast corner of the intersection on Baxter Road & Princess Anne Rd. The location isn't just convenient for Kempsville. It's an easy drive from the Shore Drive corridor via Independence Blvd. And it's a must for me to get my staple of Korean pears.

I've brought family and friends here, had date nights for my birthday or anniversaries or special occasions, and come here to carb-load before running weekends. There is a Nothing Bundt Cakes here and they have the best cakes I've ever had so I always stop to get these for special occasions and they're the only cakes I want for my birthday. There is a Chico's here which now also sells Soma Intimates from their sister brand. There is also a shop right beside Chico's which exclusively sells Lily Pulitzer clothing and has some seriously gorgeous and colorful and fun clothing inside. Some of the spots have changed on and off throughout the years: a coffee shop, bridal shops (this is where I got a stunning wedding dress for my 2015 wedding). Parking is easy, there is plenty, and it's always immaculate. This is a great spot with some nice, niche shops and Aldo's is one of my favorite local restaurants. Service is always excellent and food is top notch! The only issue is the access roads off Laskin, but they're working on those and hopefully all will be better in coming years.

There's free parking but it's in the shared lot immediately out front. It gets so busy, they must employ a full time security guard to "police" who's using it. I've actually circled the lot a few times having to wait for someone to leave in order to find any available spot.

My favorite is the New Year Block Party, complete with a crab pot drop. But there's also block parties all year round for different events. Then there's the annual Blackbeard Pirate festival over in Mill Point Park and Bay Days. The Virginia Air & Space Museum also offers a lot of events for kids and families - never a bad shout for young and old explorers alike. Dining or Drinking? There's plenty of options in Downtown, with the favorites being along E Queen St. Marker 20, Venture, Brown Chicken Brown Cow, Taphouse, Musasi, and over on Settlers Landing Rd you have Bull Island Brewing Company and Latitude 37. There's plenty of residential options, two higher education facilities, and retail options - just a stone throw away from I-64. If you haven't made a trip down here, give it a go. Retail shops are mostly independent and offer a range of unique gifts, art, jewelry, clothing, pottery, and more! So shop small, and support local!!! Downtown is defined by it's waterfront, and of course the marina and piers. There are multiple garages (mostly FREE) and on-street parking spaces throughout, but better yet, on a sunny day, the walkable area along Hampton River waterfront is breathtaking and incomparable.
