    Pinpin waiting to be seen!

I just wanna express my appreciation for Oceanside vet clinic. We were visiting out from out of town, and my elder dog had some sort of scab/abscess that we needed to have looked at. I called them when they open and the woman was so nice and got her in within a couple of hours. The staff was friendly the veterinarian was thorough, it was just nice to get that kind of care especially being from out of town. My dog was able to get the proper antibiotics and medicine for her face, and I have peace of mind for the rest of the trip. Thank you again from us and Pinpin!

    my Koloa Kitty!

Oceanside Animal Clinic and Dr Kelly are AWESOME! Over the long holiday weekend Dr. Kelly saved my kitty's life! My kitty is diabetic and her sugars plunged at 10:30 PM Sunday night! We called the clinic for emergency afterhours ...my kitty was in the middle of a seizure and Dr. Kelly went into the clinic and saved my kitty! She also took my kitty home with her to monitor her throughout the night! I am so grateful for Dr. Kelly and Oceanside Animal Clinic ....because of them my kitty is still with me today and happy and loving! It was a very scary situation and Dr. Kelly really cares about animals....Thank you ..thank you ...thank you!

This is momma Hammy. Thank you for saving my babies.

That sweet blonde girl at the front walked me through relieving mastitis is three of my sweet Karen's teets. I didn't want to waste the liquid gold so I was able to bottle feed the runt until she gets some weight on her.

I am trying to get this cat to gain a little weight and figure out his GI issues, so getting the tooth taken care of seemed to be high priority. This particular location will work with the rescue team these cats came from so this was the closest one. Appointments were booked out until August but a cancellation came up two days from the time I contacted them which was serendipitous so we took the slot. They open at 8 AM and we live about 1.5 hours away so it was an early day and by the time we arrived about fifteen minutes early, the parking lot, which is pretty generous, was already full of the patients who show up since this Columbia Vet works on a walk-in basis if you don't have a surgery or dental work to get done. The lobby and the steps outside are full of people filling out consent forms on clipboards. Dogs are barking excitedly at seeing strange dogs. Not ideal if you're carrying a cat you've only known for 2 weeks freaking out in a carrier. It took about ten or fifteen minutes for the surgeon to be ready to pre-op with us. I don't remember her introducing herself or asking who we were. I guess this place moves too quickly for little formalities like that. She looked in the cat's mouth and told us the tooth did look jagged and was probably hitting his cheek if he wasn't careful. Although she said there was a possibility they'd get done earlier than 3 - 5 PM, we ended up showing up at 5 after hearing nothing and whether it was mere coincidence that he was ready for pick-up, we have no idea. When our rescue management reviewed the invoice they were stunned how affordable this vet is. The operation was about 25% of what it would cost in Seattle. They sent us home with pain meds and antibiotics. There's no hand-holding here and very little personal relations. But if you're on a budget, this might be a good fit for your veterinary needs. However, I'm not looking forward to driving all the way back with our much more scared and wary foster for walk-in. They told us some people show up hours before they open to get in first. Yikes.

She, and every vet tech and admin professional, has been nothing but kind and responsive to us, and we visit nearly every month. When we moved to the area, we knew we needed to establish care, just like with a human doctor, and we usually have to wait two weeks to get an appointment for a non-urgent issue, but they always offer us emergency appoints on Saturdays with whatever doctor is working if needed and drop-off appointments can be schedule within a week, typically. Every vet there cares deeply about their patients and it's obvious. The receptionists are and techs are wonderful people whose love of animals and deep knowledge makes me feel comfortable entrusting them with our babies. Loving and caring for our pets is an emotoinal thing, but we have to balance that undying love with reason and patience sometimes. The number of patients being seen outnumbers the staff, in most practices, and they really do their best, working late and sometimes putting their patients before their own needs. We truly love this place. They take care of our family.

I will do an update if necessary but believe we have found a great caring clinic that communicates well with the patient and their human.

My wife and I took our 9 year old pitbull, Blue, here for an emergency visit. We were unable to get into our regular vet on short notice. Blue had what turned out to be a large mast tumor on his side, which had ruptured. He was in a lot of pain and bleeding pretty significantly. Creepy vibes here. No bedside manner. No compassion. When the vet poked Blue's side during the examination, he yelped and jerked. Rather than show any compassion for his pain, she threatened to muzzle him. The Dr. explained that old pitbulls are tumor factories and she was surprised he'd lived this long. Then she promptly told my wife that we needed to take him to an oncologist in Portland, preferably sooner than later. No offer to stop the bleeding. No offer of pain medications. She just shuttled us out with absolutely nothing but a bill for the visit. It was a complete waste of time and money. After a rough night, the next day our regular vet (Columbia Animal Hospital) immediately gave him something for pain and put him on steroids (which Mast tumors are apparently very amenable to) to stabilize him. His condition improved over night. In 48 hours he was back to his happy, joyful old self and ready for follow up treatment. Astoria Animal Hospital could easily done the same and saved Blue 24 hours of suffering. Instead they offered no help at all. It was dumbfounding and unconscionable. I don't know if the vet was just having a bad day or if this typical. But obviously I'll go out of my way to avoid this place from now on.
