Do not board your dogs here unless you want to be charged triple the amount quoted and have the cops called on you for asking why. Owner also does not care about health problems. Told my partner with heart failure she was coming up with excuses when she asked for a minute to calm down so her defib would not go off. They also charge to feed the dogs the food you bring in and do not quote that. They put it under "mediations" still concerned they gave my animals medications without my consent but they claim it's the food we brought in that's being charged under that. Owner tried to say we were making threats to her when I told her if my girlfriend goes to the hospital for her heart after this she would be contacted by a lawyer. read more

The older lady at the front desk was exceptionally rude... when she couldn't hear us or the phone because their bird in the lobby was being loud, she yelled at our children for provoking the bird they said the bird is being loud and hurting their ears... She also did not greet us and acted annoyed by our presence when we were there to pick our dogs up... read more

Visiting family on the coast and our lodging couldn't accommodate our 85lb lap dog :) We looked for an in home sitter through Rover but couldn't find one. Hammond Kennels was able to take our dog last minute. The folks on the phone seem calm and knowledgeable. They live within walking distance of the kennel and seem vested as a family. Our dog was thrilled to see us when we pick him up and had a spot or too of matted fur -likely from being in your own "stuff" however briefly (they wash out kennels daily) We had inquired about a bath previously for end of stay but they were booked. If you need care on the coast check these folks out. Try and book a bath for exit day too. read more

Our two dogs love to stay here. Staff is very kind and caring. When my wife suffered a stroke they bent over backwards to open up after hours to take in our dogs. The facility is clean and the dogs are exercised regularly. They looked after our elderly dog with bad joints making sure he was comfortable. Good people running a great business. read more

Due to age and mobility issues we don't travel much anymore and hadn't in a while. Had good luck here before but not this time. Made reservations over a month before travel, checked dog in and called twice to check on him. So I was shocked when I picked him up and found out there was a "late" charge which is 125% of the daily rate and almost doubled the amount owed. Evidently the charge was implemented last year but I was not told. Didn't have a problem with paying it but think I should have been told about it and I could have adjusted my time. Don't know if it was for the check in or check out that I was charged. Wasn't told. Also, when my dog came out, he wanted out of there right now. He was drenched and shivering. Got him in the car and towel dried him as much as possible and turned up the heat. He laid on the heated seats and cried on the way home. Not sure what happened this time, but it was very disappointing. read more

Read a few reviews regarding extra food and medications charges and not understanding why. I am familiar with the policy and understand why extra is charged. I thought I would share. This is a standard charge for kennels all over the US. Explanation as follows: Extra is charged for food and medication due to the time it takes to insure the right dog gets the proper food and medication. With a standard diet the kennels does feed its easy to feed all animals. However, with 35 runs and up to 70+ dogs on site they take the extra time to match up all the different diets and meds owners may bring for their animals. read more

I Needed some last minute boarding for my two large dogs and they had room and were able to keep them in the same kennel, to hopefully ease any of their anxiety. They did a great job, and the dogs were cleaner when I picked them up then I dropped them off, lovely people and overall great business! read more

Friendly and homey atmosphere for the dogs that are boarded. Nice, clean grooming and boarding areas and individual attention. I visited on a surprise basis for a friend who has boarded his dog there on more than one occasion, and the dog definitely was happy with his digs. The staff was very nice to me and my dogs. Our dogs boarded there for a week while we were at a no-dogs allowed hotel nearby. The staff happily allowed us to pick the dogs up daily for beach play. I was not able to find a place on the coast to do parrot nail trims other than Hammond Kennels. Appointments were stressful. The owner mixed dogs and parrots, which left me uneasy from a safety standpoint. My parrots are not familiar with dogs and were highly agitated to be around them. The owner belittled me to others in her business for my inability to control my parrots around her dogs, and publicly demeaned me as an ineffective parrot owner. On the day of the last trim, she told an employee to grab the dog near my parrot because it was a bird dog and she didn't want the dog to harm my parrot. Parrots are not allowed to make noise at her kennel, and those who vocalize are sprayed with water to shut them up. I would always arrive home after a trim, grateful that my fellows and I had survived another trim at her kennel. On the day of my last appointment, I decided I would in the future drive to Portland for nail trims rather than continuing these nerve-wracking appointments. I wish I'd cancelled that day. When I got home, I discovered one of my parrots had lost a lot of blood from a bleeder that she had not treated. I called friends to help me, and we were unable to get the bleeding stopped. The owner seemed dismissive of my frantic plea for help, and I finally drove an hour to someone who helped me. I now take my parrots to Pioneer Veterinary Hospital in Tillamook, where nail trims are safe, calm and bloodless. The vet and his technician treat me as a valued customer rather than ridiculing me as an ineffective pet owner. There is no rating lower than one star, but thankfully the Hammond Kennels business owner is permanently in my rear view mirror. read more

I travel a lot for work and this place is my dog's second home when I am gone. I've been using this place to kennel my dog for over a year now. They take such great care of him. I highly recommend this place if you need a place to kennel your dog. I have less to worry about when he is here I know he will be well taken care of. Plus they do such a great job in grooming him. My doxie stayed here for a weekend and I'll definitely be coming back. Everyone working here is so nice. When I dropped him off, they led me back to the boarding area and everything looked clean and well taken care of. Spacious cell, for lack of better word, for each dog. They write down all the items you bring in (blanket, toy, etc.) and take the dogs out five times a day individually. Price is $20/day plus an extra $1/day for bringing your own food, which I found strange but at least they told me about that charge upfront. 10% military discount. read more

I can not say enough nice things about this place! My dog stays here a couple of times a year and gets groomed while he's there. Tucker always gets excited to be dropped off, we have a hard time getting him to leave and they do an amazing job grooming him. There staff was amazing when I called when I was in labor too and taking him last minute too. We've boarded our border terrier mix, Trixie, many times over a one year period. She's always happy to go, with her tail wagging as we drive up. To me, this is the best sign of the treatment she receives there. In fact, when we arrive, they always greet her enthusiastically by name, and say something like, "Trixie's here!" They take her leash and off she goes with no problems. When I pick her up, she's always clean, well-fed, and happy. When I was initially selecting them as a kennel, they were willing to give me a tour around the kennel area. We travel several times a year, so a good kennel is critically important to us. We're moving now and are sad to lose Eva and her staff. read more

Recently I took my macaw parrot into here to have his flight feathers trimmed, to my dismay not only his flight feathers were cut but also his secondary feathers had been cut as well. I have been advised that these feathers shouild NEVER be cut! His balance has been compromised and no longer has any control and has crashed to the floor several times alrerady. I trusted these people to give the very best care to beloved and very expencise bird and they failed! I will never recommend them ever again. read more

My boyfriend and I boarded our 2 dogs here and were told the rate was for a 24 hour period. When we picked them up they tried to charge us an additional day. They cleared that up however, they then informed us there was an additional $11.00 charge for feeding them their own food. No one had informed us of this and we had to leave to get more cash (they do not accept debit or credit). When we came back we told them how upset we were that no one told us this and we would have appreciated being informed of this. They eat high quality expensive food and I brought it for them so they would not get upset stomachs while there. I've worked at a veterinary office/kennel and it was not a big deal to feed dogs their own food. I was concerned how well they were taken care of while they were their if feeding them their own food is such an inconvenience that they must charge you for it was taking them out a major inconvenience as well? The lady argued with me that she never had a problem and that Eukanuba was better food than most of the dogs boarded there get at home. Well not mine and even if it was that would set me up to have my dog come home with an upset stomach. On top of that the lady brought them out to me not on their leashes allowing them to excitedly jump all over the other customers in there waiting. She had their leashes in her hand but I guess maybe there would have been an additional charge to actually put them on their leashes. I will personally never trust these people with my dogs again. read more
