A meeting with him to address these issue was met with distant and some inane explanations for his actions. At no time did he offer any semblance of an apology. Subsequent meeting with the owner was very much respectful and empathetic to my dismay and anger at Jeff's demeanor. There is a problem with communication policy/practice at Slater's. Events must be conveyed to bereaved individuals in a thorough and specific manner. This led to much confusion and stress for me. My husband had a grey/black mustache which became a black smudge for his viewing. I could understand if there was an accident but just be honest. Slater's as whole was good BUT the Funeral Director needs to find another career choice. Simply believe he has been doing this for 30 plus years and lacks empathy and common courtesy when interaction with his customers. Truly truly a sad state.

They checked in on us at the perfect times, asking if we needed coffee or water. They greeted all of our family and gave their condolences. Perhaps the most touching aspect was how Nick helped us get my Grammy home. There was an issue back home in CA with her death certificate (nothing to do with Alfieri, it was her doctors), and she almost did not make it back to PA, her final resting place. When that spouse died in 2024, Burket-Truby was responsive and kind. Both Sean and Shea helped us in the first difficult days after the death, as we formed a decision to have a memorial service several months later. When we changed some of the preplanned arrangements, Burket-Truby kept up and gave us excellent advice. Even with a snafu about published dates for the venue where we held her "Celebration of Life". They EVEN took photos and kept track of who all sent flowers and EVEN offer to transport them to church/ venue when they can, and donate afterward too, which is so important to us.... 6 months later when we lost my Dad to Cancer, they were right there for us, ready to help in any way they could... We are so lucky to live in Mount Washington with two amazing Funeral Home Families to help us when we so need it.
