The empanadas are the size of my hand and are made in-house daily; my favorites are the carne and ropa vieja but there are others like carnitas, ham and cheese, and spinach. I come here because I'm obsessed with the Super Caveman Smoothie (chocolate, tyvm) and it's the only place in Miami with a kick ass mocktail, natural wine, craft beer, AND fun snacks selection. And of course, I can't forget to mention the order & go counter service. Today was the second day in a row that I went to order my smoothie and I love how the lovely lady remembered me. They opened up the back area and created a scotch and bourbon section! All the goodies are in one area. And their prices are competitive with just about any other store around. They get some store picks in too, so it's good to stop in frequently and see what they have at the moment. They continue to have beer and wine and all the rest too. Shelves are full of kinds of interesting bottles to pick up. The staff is friendly and helpful. That part seems to have been tightened up too. Which is much appreciated. They are back to in-store tastings too. So make sure you get on the list to know when they are coming up. Checkers has been around for quite a while now. And they are getting better and better!

But, me and my friend decided to try and chill after running around doing errands before the New Year. We decided to try and sit down and get their Cafe con Leche. The store has a designated section to sit down. The table was really cool because it had an old map of the Florida Keys. The coffee was also really good and it definitely gave me the burst of energy for our party that night. The cashier who took care of us and made our coffee was very nice. He made sure we had the right sweetness to our drinks. This is a good place to get that much needed cafecito break. Other than that, the prices of the store for alcohol is really good. They have a nice selection of Florida and Miami local wines, spirits and beers to choose from. They also have deals with brand favorites as well. I personally, could get lost in the store!

This store is adequate, but certainly isn't as large as some of their other locations, and on the day we came here they were out of a few of our favorite selections. Total Wine & More often has good prices and they normally always have coupons, especially for their off-brand Winery Direct and Spirits Direct offerings, which are sometimes surprisingly good for the price, while at other times the Winery/Spirits Direct brands should be passed on due to quality, while in other cases they aren't much lower in price vs. equivalent better-known name brand items. When shopping for imported wines or higher-end brands especially, I'd suggest comparison shopping with Happy Wine in the Grove or El Carajo up the street, as both have been known to beat Total Wine at times, depending on what you're buying.
