He insisted that it was just some kind of cold and blamed it on the fact that mittens was a polydactyl. He said that Mittens was inbred and that he had had a cat with the same symptoms and he got over it. He's a doctor, so I believed him. He lied. Mittens never got better. I took him to another vet and the first thing they did was check him for FeLV. He was positive. My other cats had been exposed. For those of you who have not lost a cat to leukemia, I will tell you this...it is a horrible death.
