The first time to go, expect to spend some time there. Make sure you make an appointment online before you go in or you might have to wait a little longer. They have appointments like every ten minutes so you'll be able to get an appointment around the time you want. The first time you go they'll have to make a packet on you and you'll have to do some paperwork. Make sure to check out the website for the things you need to bring so you don't waste your own time. Once they make a packet, you'll have to answer a lot of questions about your medical history and it's basically centered around what has entered your body. Meds, needles, tattoos, those sorts of things, but don't worry when they sit you down at the computer to do it, they give you a snack and a bottle of water. The snack was legit, it was cheese crackers, but not the budget kind, the kind with the Cheetos cheese that you loved as a child and haven't ever seen since, yea those kind!!! Then a doctor checks you out to make sure you're not sick, then you're off to the races on the plasma machine! During the whole process I kept checking out the sweet recliners you get to sit in while they take your plasma, and I couldn't wait for a turn on one those bad boys! You get comfortable and they start the machine. You can use your phone during it to entertain yourself or you can listen to the music they're playing, which was honestly really good music, probably a cool I heart radio station. After being hooked up it took the machine about 40 minutes to milk my plasma from me, it didn't hurt at all and I had zero side effects, didn't feel faint or anything. Then they give you yet another round of the delicious crackers and another bottle of water. Then they gave me, wait for it, $50 dollars. From start to finish it was 3 hours, so $16.67 per hour, well above minimum wage. The first time will take about three hours. Every time after that it'll only take an hour max. My next visit I'll get $70, so $70 dollars an hour. That's baller money. And the plasma helps a lot of people. It's a win win. It's easy money, helps people, and the place is very clean and the staff is great. Highly recommend. I have been to the 2 plasma donation centers in Champaign-Urbana. Here and Grifols. They both…read moresuck. I needed some extra money. They both pay the same amount: Grifols pays $150 for the first two sessions. Then $130/week for 2 donations. KEDPlasma pays $100 for the first 6 sessions, then $130/week, also for 2 donations. The problems are complicated. First of all, donating a liter or so of plasma TOTALLY wipes you out. You get home ok, but that next 6 or 8 hours leaves you feeling weak and dizzy. So much so that you cannot ride a bike home. Even walking to a bus stop feels really hard. The next day you are back to normal, but the first few hours after donating are dicey. Second, the phlebotamists are totally a crap shoot. Some of them are great. Others suck. The last time I donated the phlebotamist did a terrible job ---- it hurt like hell to get the needle in, and then after the first 25% of the donation, the needle seems to have slipped and the machine stalled. So they shifted to the other arm and the same thing happened. Now if I wanted to donated again, I'd have to wait 60 days. I am never going back. It is just not worth it. in terms of the staff, some of them are very nice. Others are downright surly. It is useful if you are in a pinch for money, but on the whole? Not worth it.

Once you're there, all you have to do is fill out a questionnaire and get checked in. Within minutes, a nurse will bring you around to check your iron level and then you'll proceed to the back for the draw. Blood donations take about 5 minutes, my trips there are in and out under 20 minutes usually. There are snacks and drinks along with a free shirt per visit. Overall experience and care towards donators have been awesome; highly recommend this place for blood & plasma donations.

My urine test was not sealed like every other place Does. The lady at the front desk and the tech that took my sample treated me like dirt. A year later and I am still in pain. Foot is still hurting and hasn't regained normal color. Still…read morelooks bruised. I didn't follow through with the complaint about my ER visit. I had a complete breakdown because of my mental health. A injured foot and a year later still no better. Struggling with daily activities. Can't wear shoes still without the consequence of pain. I have followed up with my primary Doctor but never went to see a foot doctor because of the fact that I have no Insurance I felt I got treated unfairly. I have a medical bill for several places because of this injury and I cannot afford to pay it. I got some help funding coverage but it did not pay x-rays or any imaging.
