Looking for a place to donate blood and plasma? This place has been my go to for donations every 8-9 weeks. Love the staff there. Friendly & welcoming and never had to wait in line. Once you're there, all you have to do is fill out a questionnaire and get checked in. Within minutes, a nurse will bring you around to check your iron level and then you'll proceed to the back for the draw. Blood donations take about 5 minutes, my trips there are in and out under 20 minutes usually. There are snacks and drinks along with a free shirt per visit. Overall experience and care towards donators have been awesome; highly recommend this place for blood & plasma donations. read more

Shepherds have always had awesome customer service, in helping you rebook, and book your donations. Almost every single time I made a donation, I received a t-shirt. The staff there is friendly and courteous to every single donor. I wish the TV during donations had various channel options, since my donations don't last more than 15 minutes, I am usually in and out before I get bored. read more

Check in is fast if you do it prior to arriving via the online fast pass. The place looks like your typical blood donation/hospital center. I've come and gone in 30 minutes and 1.5 hour - it just depends on how busy they are when you go. You don't need an appointment to donate. Staff isn't very upbeat here, which would definitely help given the context of giving blood. read more

The mission is important but not operated in a professional manner to obtain Goal.Poor communication and staffing. Company is restructuring after years of misuse of spending including creating job titles and salaries from thin air. They do not promote within, train for success or encourage for future growth. Poor Morale and overworked. Allows you to operate with no running water, restrooms and misuse labor laws by working past 8 hours with no break, up to 12hours and ignoring osha with frozen pipes. Management is not concerned for your safety with public and security from donors behaviors . Your just to fill a whole. Never appreciated. The phlebotomist. Are the hardest employees there but not appreciated. I saw the race card used more than once and sad to think FDA can't see all this during their inspections. read more

I've donated blood 3 times in the past. The first 2 times went without incident. The last time... Not so much. My last donation was horrible. The woman didn't like how slowly I was bleeding so she decided she would adjust the needle. It felt like she stabbed through the vein and was just digging in my inner elbow. Afterwards she declared that I had clotted and wasn't bleeding anymore (this generally happens when you're not in the vein by the way) and she removed the needle. When removing the needle she pulled it at an angle cutting my inner elbow. After this debacle she told me all our efforts were for nothing since the bag wasn't full. I got a cookie, an orange juice and a t-shirt that will never be worn outside the house. After a couple of hours I was concerned with my bruising. 2 days later I was able to make it down to the office to show the director and assistant director my arm. I was told 10% of donors bruise and that my bruising wasn't THAT bad and the next time I donate, if I choose to, to use my other arm. So yes, donate if you're able to. Just know your arm may end up looking mangled and people may think you're a victim of domestic abuse. ***See photo for bruised arm. read more

The front desk woman was a little awkward and they didn't do a great job of bringing people back in the order in which they arrived, but all in all this was a great clinic. The questionnaire process was streamlined, the wait wasn't too long. The building is spacious and clean. The lady who took my blood was very understanding when I had a miniature panic attack before being stuck. :-) Good place. Give blood, people! read more

I've been giving blood here in the Augusta/Martinez area for decades. Always friendly and very quick. They always take good care of me. I saw some review showing a bruised inner-elbow, well, if you bend your elbow after the needle is withdrawn, that's your choice to create a bruise. The staff at Shepeard can't be blamed for that. My husband came here for therapeutic phlebotomy because his hemoglobin and hematocrit were to high. The inserted the needle in a jabbing motion and the jadto fish for the vein. Then after she thought she was in, she hooked him to the machine and left without verifying good blow flow. When another tech came over and noticed no blood flow she repositioned the needle and it started flowing. She went over and sat down. A few minutes later she checked on it and it had clotted off in the tubing and they stopped and refused to try again. Very unprofessional!!!!! They didn't care if was successful or not. There was 2 LPN's and several others standing around without any other patients. read more
