He has been very kind and knowledgeable, answering all of our questions and concerns. He did not push surgery, even though we ended up going the route of putting tubes in her ears. He performed the surgery and everything went great, and our daughter is doing much better. The other staff are nice, from the nurses to the receptionist to the audiologist. Speaking of which, the audiologist performed hearing tests and was great working with out daughter. Inside the rooms, there are toys and books to help keep our toddler entertained. Overall, I was happy with the service we got, and continue to get, whenever we have questions. I wish all doctors offices were the same.

This is my second Lasik surgery in 40 years in Birmingham. My vision in 1990 was 2800 before…read moresurgery and I had extensive astigmatism. I hated glasses and since I hunt wilderness areas by myself for weeks at a time, losing my glasses would have been really bad. Dr, Sarah Hayes did my first surgery the first year Lasik was allowed in USA. My corrected vision went from 2800 to 2015! I had been blind all my life and now had hawk like vision. I was dumfounded!! Now 35 years later my vision had deteriorated to 2070. Dr, Hayes had retired and after some research I settled on Dr. Michaelson in Birmingham, Al. He is an intelligent and interesting person to talk to with excellent people skills. On the day of surgery, he was a different person. No joking around or laughing but all business. He is very thorough and over next few months I met with him numerous times for follow-up. So now after 3 months my vision is 2020 and getting better after each visit. I have 1 more visit in 6 months but I expect my vision to stay at 2020 or even improve some more. So if you are tired of wearing glasses that get broken, slide down your nose, always needing cleaning or just looking goofy in glasses, don't be afraid to get Lasik surgery. Its somewhat expensive but it will be the best investment you will ever make. I have gone now though 2 Lasik surgeries and have had no problems at all on either surgery. I consider Dr. Michaelson to be the best Lasik surgeon in Birmingham and possibly the entire South East.

Now I'm honestly not sure where his price is compared to others but he was definitely the right choice. Extremely thorough and took his time to fine out exactly what my needs were. I am a plastic surgeon so I needed great vision up close but also wanted things far away to be clear. We opted for monocular vision lasik. The surgery went great.
