It took multiple last-minute cancellations until they finally came out. Then when they came out, they said we needed to waterproof the basement before they would start. This pushed the project from September to January, when we finally could get the waterproofing company to come. Other contractors didn't say this, but we said, better safe then sorry. So we did that and spent $3500 waterproofing the basement. Then they were supposed to start the first week of January. Then came delay after delay after delay, and we would only get responses from them when we hounded them for responses. We had moved everything up from the basement, including my office, as we were expecting them. They would always have a new excuse: city of philadelphia is really slow with inspections (we didn't need permits for our job), there was a snowstorm that delayed them (the snowstorm happened weeks after the agreed upon start date), there were delays in supplies and production (our job was to put up drywall, which is fully stocked at home depot). I told them that if they don't think they can start in two weeks (6 weeks after the agreed upon start date) then they should let me know. Instead, two weeks later, they wrote back and said they can't give me a new start date and the project is, effectively, on hold indefinitely. This company is in over their heads, stay away.
