I am for sure going to try to come to this event every year because it was soo fun. It is a night event where it reminds me of something similar to 626 night market but held in Little Tokyo and is a lot small size. But overall this is pretty fun because you can see so many different people dressing up nd enjoying themselves. There is food to buy from vendors and also things to buy. So shopping around was pretty nice. Food also was super good!! The event is free and pretty safe, I saw plenty of families here that brought their young kids and it wasn't too scary that they were freaking out. But overall everyone was having fun. The DJ and host did an awesome job in music and information. It was super fun and felt really safe in too!

There were cool screenings of horror movies, starting with "Prince of Darkness" on Oct. 5th., showed at one of the locations where it was shot, a fun Block Party on Saturday, Oct. 27th, a haunted tour of the area and there will be a Trick or Treat on 31st. It's a great idea, the area comes to life during this time, there are many activities for the season. People who come here like to dress up anyways, so the Block Party was a fun event to people watch, many cool costumes around, a beer garden, food trucks, DJ, various vendors. It started at 6 pm and went to midnight. The city that never sleeps.... A very cool way to have a Halloween party, I wish they had more acts on the stage, but the Haunted Little Tokyo is a great idea. And it can get spooky...

The screen they were showing Back To The Future on was relatively small and just wasn't an all around enjoyable size for the large group of people in the park. What this appeared to be was something that wasn't a too well thought out idea had they had a bigger screen we might have stayed longer than the first few minutes of the movie. The atmosphere on the other hand was killer I mean come on your in a park next to the awesomeness that is the Packing District so that was definitely a plus as was the free admission to the event. Hopefully they do this again sometime and put a bit more planning into the event as it could potently be a spectacular family friendly outing for all ages to enjoy!

It was especially awesome to see the Disneyland fireworks going off in the background as that's my favorite thing about Disney.

It is an amazing place and you want to go and bring the kids. It is super cool. You might think it is all about nature, but there are other things to see, but the nature part of it is great. The prices are fair and the place is spotless and so well maintained. I think it is pretty new. Refik Anadol Studio is built a groundbreaking initiative. It is the Large Nature Model. As far as I know it is the first world's first open source, generative AI model dedicated to nature. The first step they did was building the Large Nature Model in order to collect as much data on the flora, fauna, and fungi of the rainforests of the world. It is located at The Grand LA, the Frank Gehry-designed development in Downtown Los Angeles. Parking is for a fee. It really is amazing.

Dataland was poorly organized from the start. My ticket had an entry time, but that time meant…read morenothing. I ended up waiting in line for 90 minutes past when I was supposed to get in, standing outside in 100+ degree heat the whole time. At least the workers provided us with water... To make it worse, staff were randomly pulling people out of line and giving them VIP access if they looked older or couldn't stand for long. Understandable for those individuals, but it meant everyone else in the regular line kept getting pushed back further with no warning or explanation. Once you finally get inside, it's a letdown. You're handed a cheap air freshener to wear around your neck and shown screens playing AI-generated content. There's no clear guidance on how long to spend anywhere or where to go next. Whatever this is being marketed as, it isn't art. It's a cash grab dressed up in enough spectacle that people convince themselves they're having a profound experience. Save your money and your time.

Creep is back and better than ever! They've returned with a more linear format, taking place in a…read moremansion in the West Adams district (fans of Delusion may recognize this space from a previous year). There were two sections, the welcoming B&B in partnership with CBS and the show 'Ghosts' which smelled like pumpkin spice and everything nice, with the occasional possession and haunting. Then you're taken across the street for the real show and that's where Creep shines. The poetic storylines, the terrific acting and staging, the interaction, and new ideas all reminded me of the early days of Delusion which is a huge compliment. Your group of 8 is small and intimate and you feel absolutely immersed. Be prepared to be touched, whether you are taking an actor's hand or they are gently leading you somewhere, but nothing over the top. I'm so glad it's back and as good a Creep LA as ever was! Parking is neighborhood street parking, not best area but you should be able to find something.

A review of Creep x Ghosts 2024…read more I had always heard about this company over the years, but never had a chance to check it out until this year. I had considered going to another haunt, but the prices were out of my range. Creep was a comfortable $70 per person and I was lucky to grab some tickets as they were selling out. I really didn't know what to expect, but the least I can say is that I was completely blown away. The absolutely expert crafting of this experience, everything from the story to the acting to the timing to the setting, was incredible. First I was curious, then unsettled, then worried, then SCARED, and then nearly welling up with tears. These actors are so committed and every character feels so full. The way they looked into my eyes had me deeply moved and I was immersed for the entire hour we were inside. Every person in my group was interacted with and enveloped in the story. This sort of art needs to be deeply appreciated and supported in Los Angeles and I'm so grateful to all the people that put their hearts and souls into this. Thank you JFI Productions!

Midsummer Scream was, well, a scream in so many ways! 2026 was their 10th year and they went all…read moreout to celebrate (as did us)! Wifey and I splurged on Gold Bat Passes this year and if you think it doesn't make a difference - it really does! With the convention getting bigger and bigger each year, Gold Bat is the way to go so you can see everything and not get FOMO. It comes with admittance for the entire weekend, priority entrance for Friday night, entrance an hour early on Saturday and Sunday, entrance to the Saturday night after-party, and priority entrance for panels and mazes. We booked a room at the hotel next door for the weekend so we got to come/go to drop off goodies when our hands got full. Speaking of which, there are so many vendors in all corners of the convention center that sell anything/everything Halloween and horror related. You're going to want to bring a bag, but if you don't they also pass out plenty of free tote bags (we got 6 just walking around!). Celebrities are aplenty taking photos and autographing stuff for fans. They can get a bit pricey, but if you're a fan it's hard not to convince yourself to splurge. It's the 30th year anniversary of Scream, so they had plenty of actors (and Marco Beltrami) appear. We took a picture with Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard (both of which couldn't have been nicer). Lots of Ghostface fans in costumes and masks! There are food vendors inside as well, but they're so pricey that you might as well go outside and walk to a nearby restaurant (unless you're super hangry and need an emergency fix). For drinks we had to go with our reliable Horror Vibes Coffee and then topped it off with sweet treats from Deadly Sweet (they consistently had one of the longest lines each day but their cookies are to die for!). The Hall of Shadows is their dark hall filled with haunted attractions/mazes by home haunters and professionals alike. Some experiences are shorter than others, but it hits the spot until proper spooky season in October (though every season is spooky season if you got the horror within you). There's a lot of fog machines so watch your step! This is really one of the better Gold Bat perks - instead of waiting in the General Admission line, you get your own shorter line and basically walk right to the front. We walked right on in for the majority of the mazes! There's an after-party on Saturday night that we were interested in, so we checked it out since we didn't have to pay extra for it. It was in the main ballroom with photo ops on the sides and tables/chairs surrounding the huge dance floor. The energy was kind of buns though - it took a long while for the dancing to fully swing into motion. Lots of lurkers staring from the sides and standing on the dance floor so heavy middle school vibes. Naturally a lot of fans had been there all day so the stank was overwhelming! The after-party also comes with a separate karaoke room and a screening room for a horror movie. If you're a horror/Halloween lover and haven't been to Midsummer Scream - for shame! It's so much fun with so many photo ops around, so much memorabilia/merch, so many free/discounted tickets for other events like Haunted Hayride, and so many fans united in spookiness. If you're thinking about going, follow them on social media and scoop up the Gold Bats as soon as they're available because they'll sell out quick. We can't wait to come back and make this a yearly tradition! We're already 2 years down and we found out that this is the last year Midsummer Scream will be in Long Beach. They have officially grown so much that in 2027 they're moving to Anaheim! We were there for the end of an era, and we'll be there for the beginning of the next!

I have always wanted to go to this convention/expo since I am a spooky girl. As a birthday gift, my…read morefiancé gifted me a pass for both of us this past Saturday. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the line was so long that it took us at least an hour and a half to enter the actual event. It was well worth the wait, and surprisingly, it went by fast, although we got sunburnt. I highly recommend investing in the VIP pass to avoid the long lines because this keeps getting busier each year. The convention itself is pretty cool, especially if you are a fan of everything spooky. You can find unique merch from small businesses such as Backstitch Bruja, Spooksieboo, DIY Light Guy, Bob Gurr, and Black Mast. Plus, there are many event attendees dressed as your favorite monster or whatever your little dark heart desires. Saw many cool costumes, and I was able to capture some in my photos. Convention parking is throughout the convention area in adjacent lots, and I paid $30 to park and walked over to the convention. I suggest trying to get an Uber if you do not want to deal with the traffic getting into a lot. You will be paying around the same amount or possibly more during peak times. There are also food trucks throughout the expo and snacks to enjoy while shopping, browsing, and having fun. In the Hall of Shadows, there are many mazes and photo ops to enjoy. Not too spooky, but you can get a feel of how Universal Horror Nights or Knott's Scary Farm is. So much fun! There are lots of panels, celebrity signings, Casa de Calaveras, and a Black Cat Lounge, but some lines were long, so I didn't get to experience them except for the Casa de Calaveras, which was pretty cool. Can't wait for next year's event, and I will for sure be purchasing the VIP pass to be able to experience more and get more out of my pass. Such a fun and spooky day!

The downtown Fullerton art walk happens on the first Friday of every month. This happens all year round. It seems like the event was more popular maybe pre-covid? Not too sure. You can walk around downtown, and you will see signs put out for the businesses that are participating. It seems like the hours vary depending on the business. So, some were closed when we went. It may be a good idea to go during the day, so you can hit all of the places before they close. We got to see some art. It was cool. It's always fun exploring downtown Fullerton! Not bad for a free event. It's not something you have to run to go do. It was alright for what it is. A free event to do on a Friday, once a month lol

This review is more for the Third Year Anniversary Event. My first Artwalk was during their third…read moreyear anniversary which was held in the plaza of the Fullerton Museum Center. It was cool how everything was gathered in one place and there was a lot of festivities: photobooth, live music, food trucks, beer and wine garden, arts and crafts booth for kids, etc. The museum gift shop was also open to browse. Great atmosphere and nice to walk around, though I didn't really get involved too much with the booths. I was there mostly to browse and soak in the atmosphere. And to get grub from the food trucks, haha. The gathering was a lot smaller than I thought and I was expecting to see a lot more, but it's ok. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Parking was a breeze since they were set up right next to a couple of free public parking garages. All in all, the event provided some great atmosphere, but I'm not sure if a normal Artwalk would be for me. I suppose if I had nothing better to do on a Friday night and wanted to soak in some local art, I'd go again.

Designer Con a.k.a. D-CON a.k.a. VTN (Vinyl Toy Network) is an annual convention since 2006 which…read morecontinues to grow. This was held on November 9 (Saturday) and November 10 (Sunday) in 2013 It once was a small one day show, and has since expended to become a two-day show with a larger exhibit hall plus entertainment programming and even concessions stands inside, and has really professionalized itself in appearance. It's a really nice set-up. It's always been a great show. Its unique, and very fan friendly. The artists who appear are very approachable and gracious, as are the vendors and exhibitors. You can find all sorts of quirky unique artistic pieces here, that are beyond what's considered a toy, figure or statue. They feature truly original creations you won't find in many stores (other than if in the Los Angeles area, places like Munkey King, Pop Monster, Giant Robot and Kid Robot), but this is a one stop shopping emporium of vendors, many of which are the actual creators themselves. Admission in 2013 was $5 per day in advance or $7 at the door and $10 for 2 days. In the past, when it was a 1 day show, admission was equally as affordable, and after I think 3pm or so it was free admission, but now with the upscale improvements to the show, I think the overhead may not allow them to do the same things they used to as a small boutique show. This year, I saw the legendary Frank Kozik there amongst others. It's fun to shop around and look at everything, and there's lots to see and buy. It's a great place to shop for quirky gifts too. I also saw Luke Chueh at an exhibitor's table. I'd love to see a more formalized artist presence much like how comic conventions have an "Artists Alley" in the future as opposed to exhibitors hosting signings or artists spread out with their own tables, plus maybe special guests too, maybe expand into the "Low-Brow" (as it's called) art scene. It feels like a modern art gallery, only the items here are for sale and for the most part are affordable. You'll see some really eye catching stuff that'll blow your mind and bring a smile to your face. The venue is nice and convenient. I've always known this show to be at the Pasadena Convention Center, and it's always been a very clean, well lit, comfortable and convenient (proximity to freeways and a nice surrounding area of other things to see, do and eat at). Parking is somewhat easy, but if you park on the streets just be mindful of the street signs for any limitations. ...be sure to check out their website to see when the next show is if you missed the current year's show, it's something well worth traveling for or planning to attend.
