The course description matching the course description at UTPB. However, they will not honor the course because the class is not labeled (numbered) the same as UTPBs. I've had 2 advisors in 1 year and each have given me a different degree plan, and lacked updating it with courses I took at UTPB. The advisor I currently have told me I didn't need a class and then after dropping it came back and said I actually did need the class. I have reached out to the Dean several times and am now being ignored after our meeting 3 weeks ago to find out why my classes aren't transferring and when I could actually graduate. This school is not worth the time and energy. There's a reason it's a cheaper UT school. I would not recommend!

** WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ** Worst college experience of my…read morelife. *When I first signed up for my campus tour and to meet with the counselor, I DID NOT GET A TOUR. Of any kind. When asked about the tour they said they didn't have enough people to take around so it was cancelled. So my Male counselor then took me into his office to go over a schedule for the semester. He handed me a huge course book and said, "here are the classes we have at UTPB, look through them and tell me which classes you decide on..." then turned away and began to finish his solitaire game on the computer. Didn't ask me my major or what I was going for or anything. Then when done with the book and had chosen what I hoped be right, he then put together a schedule as printed it out for me and said, "Thanks for signing up with us and here is your new schedule, have a great day." This experience sucked and got worse from here. *My next experience had to do with my professor, "Jamie Hughes", and it didn't go over so well because her teachings were ridiculous. I was going for psychology minor and she has completely helped me not to make a sheep decision. The fact that she told me and a classroom of 30 other minds TO JUDGE PEOPLE before you talk to them, just so I may know what to talk about with that person, IS ABSURD! Then I raised my hand to ask why would we do this? She shut me down and completely went around my question. I was appalled and I wouldn't want someone to judge me before they get to know me or ask questions. That is falling into a small minded environment and holds you back from really getting to know any person. I had written the president as well to let her know of the teachings going on in her school but got NO RESPONSE. So NO, I WOULD NO RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYBODY until they have changed their staff and way of teachings for our future generations to come.

I was impressed at how organized our tour guide, an employee of the Museum, managed all of us throughout the entire venue. We began our tour with the Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame portion of the Museum. I highly recommend this jewel of southeastern New Mexico particularly if you have any interest in the ranching lifestyle. The displays are well-maintained and seem to do these great icons justice. We continued our tour of the Western Heritage Museum located on the south side, the Virgil and Thelma Linam Collection. But before entering, our students interacted with "Gus," a lifelike figure that has a sort of Q&A session all about the cowboy life. My students thought he was real at first--ha! Our tour lasted approximately 45 minutes, then we watched an educational movie in the Museum's theater. Because we had our short attention span audience and also needed to stay on our bus schedule, we did not view any of the ongoing and temporary exhibits on the north side which are usually set up very nicely. It was an unusually rainy and cold day, so we also did not get to have our snack on the nice back patio area. :( On a slightly different not, the Brian Norwood sculpture outside in the front is amazing. If you have time, right before sunset drive about 50 more minutes south just before the small town of Jal. You'll see more of his artwork from the highway or you can drive up close to it and stand next to these amazing silhouettes. Norwood's artwork and the articles that the Museum has received from the people of this good community are sure to give you a taste of how this county came to be. I really hope to someday see "Sandy," the Columbian Mammoth that was discovered a couple of years ago near the San Simon. I'm leaving out tons of other events that happen annually at the WHM, but you get the idea. Really neat museum & nice, knowledgable staff. Review #55
