From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was warm, thoughtful, and incredibly well organized. Kristy, Bob, and the entire team made us feel genuinely welcomed and took such wonderful care of our group. The setting is absolutely stunning. What they have created is remarkable. The beautiful grounds, relaxed atmosphere, locally sourced farm-to-table meal, and attention to every detail made the evening unforgettable. Our attendees loved everything, from exploring the property and visiting the animals to enjoying dinner and participating in our murder mystery event. Planning an event for a large group can be stressful, but the Walker Homestead team made the process easy and enjoyable. They were responsive, flexible, accommodating, and committed to making sure everything went smoothly. The food was outstanding, the service was excellent, and the entire evening felt personal and special rather than simply being another hosted event. Our group is still talking about how much they enjoyed the experience. The tasting we had featured both reds and whites. Some I enjoyed, others weren't for me, but I was able to find great wines to take back for my husband and for my mother. The tasting was presented by one of the owners, and he had a vast knowledge of winemaking and also some great stories! I was not impressed by the labeling, but this seems to be very common among small local wineries. For me, the presentation of a wine bottle is important not only for gifting but when you are enjoying a bottle for yourself. The Vineyard also has a small gift shop with wine related items, some of which were rather unique. On the tour, I was surprised to see thick plastic containers for fermenting the wine rather than the traditional barrels. I learned more than I expected to about a process I know fairly well. Overall, this was a nice local vineyard with some good options. I can't say that I would necessarily drive there just to visit, but it's a nice stop on a ride through rural Iowa.

We were warmly greeted and the owner was friendly and very knowledgeable. He restored the winery/stagecoach stop himself (he even shared before pictures) and makes the wine himself from the old recipes from the area, and from the fruits of the area (except for the lemons, which come from Arizona). The wines were unique and very good. Prior to this, I had never had rhubarb wine or a wine made from multiflora roses. Both were heavenly, and neither of us tasted a wine there that we felt wasn't good. The building itself is very neat and has much of its original charm, including the original windows. There are a few nice outdoor seating areas and a nice garden, as well. Know before you go: This place only accepts cash or check. There is an ATM down the road in a local bar.

The employee didn't greet me but did remind me that I can find their wines at certain supermarket locations...I felt uncomfortable. Later, I visited the suggested supermarket and the wine I wanted was sold out.
