I learned the hard way that Matt Odgers with Odgers Law Group is not an honest attorney. ***Beware. Matt Odgers has recently been reprimanded and license suspended from the CA Bar**** http://members.calbar.ca.gov/fal/Licensee/Detail/290722 I spoke with Matt regarding a Management Services Agreement (MSA) I needed to be drafted for my company. I had spent quite a bit of time drafting before engaging with Odgers Law Group. I explained our needs and the expediency for the MSA as we had customers waiting to onboard. I paid for the retainer. Matt reviewed the draft I provided and stated it would only take him a few hours to review, edit, and provide a first draft. The first draft provided was obviously a boilerplate he had on file. I expected him to have a template to work from. Matt cut and paste a couple of sections from my draft and added them into his boilerplate agreement. As discussed with Matt, I have some precise criteria that needed to be included, which he did not address. I did a follow-up call with Matt to explain that the first draft did not meet our needs, and we created a plan to correct the MSA to our specifications. That was the last I heard from Matt. Multiple emails were not responded to; for some reason, he is never in his office when I call, his assistant schedule a call (which was confirmed), and he no-showed. In my professional estimation, I believe he spent about 15 minutes working on our MSA. I have requested a refund and have still not heard from him or his office. I search the CA Bar website to find out that Matt has recently been reprimanded and suspended for the same misconduct.  I am left with no choice but to file a complaint with the CA Bar Association. read more

I found Matthew Odgers on Yelp February of last year and paid him to review a contract for me. After months of waiting, I emailed and called and left multiple messages until he finally got back to me and finished the review, that was in May.....his office apologized and said he was short staffed. Fast forward to this year, in January, I sent him an email and asked a simple question about how much it costs for a service I might need, and no response. I called his office multiple times over the following weeks and they kept saying that he was in a meeting. A month later, he finally emailed back and said he had the flu, completely contradicting what his staff had told me. Two weeks after that incident, I find out that he listed my address incorrectly when he submitted some paperwork to the government for me last year. I emailed him a simple question asking him if it's okay that he submitted the wrong address.....no response. I called and left multiple messages with his staff again, sometimes they would say he is actually in the office but that he was busy. I would even tell them that it's urgent and they still wouldn't let me talk to him. I called almost every single day for a week, no response. I finally told his receptionist that I was extremely upset with the lack of communication from him and she said she would not only let him know but also the paralegal that works for him....no response from anybody. The email I originally sent him was Monday. After multiple calls and messages left during the week, it is now currently Tuesday night of the following week and still no response. The WORST customer service I have ever received from anyone. A lawyer can be a very important aspect of a business and having someone impossible to get a hold of can be a huge liability. Stay away from this guy! read more

If i could give them ZERO stars, I would. Set up an appointment for a consultation, confirmed via phone to be the Sabre springs location. They even called and left a VM asking for some background info - I called back, attorney not available, said they could call me back at any time and they never did. I showed up at the designated place and time and there was not one there. No receptionist, just 4 people working at workstations at the suite 275 door. They had no idea I was coming, told me to take a seat. I sat for 25 min then went back telling them I am sitll waiting at which time they again had no idea who I was. Then it turns out this "Law Group" only rents space in this community office space and no one from Odgers was there that day. They still had no idea what to do. I left. I called Odgers and told them about it and they conceded that they only rent space there sometimes. They also had no record of my appointment. I went back and listened to the VM they sent earlier in the week that confirmed the place and time. I called them back indicating this and again they had no idea who I was. I wouldn't trust any business like this with any legal matters since organization and record-keeping is imperative to legal matters. Stay away! read more

I am a court reporter from San Diego and recently moved to Wisconson with my husband while he does his residency. After finishing court reporting school, I wanted to work for myself, but I had no idea where to start. I met with Matt, and he helped explain all of my different options, and I ended up deciding to do business as an LLC. I had assumed that it was going to be ridiculously expensive (based on the amount of time that Matt spent with me and all of my follow-up questions) but when I got the invoice, he did not charge me a penny over the flat rate that he quoted over the phone. About 6 months after we set this up, my husband got into a residency program in Wisconsin, so we had to move. I called and explained this to Matt, and he walked me through the process of dissolving the California LLC, and did not charge anything.
