Even so, I decided to pay the €2 to access the lower section of the fountain -- and I'm so glad I did. The queue moved quickly, and once I saw the fountain up close, I was completely in awe. At that point, the €2 felt like nothing at all. I also went back another morning at 6 am, and it was a completely different experience. There were only a handful of people around, the sunrise was beautiful, and the atmosphere felt calm and magical. With no staff present, people were simply moving the fences to walk down closer to the fountain. I would highly recommend visiting -- it's easily one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Being the largest triumphal arch in Rome; it is a must stop.I'm definitely amazed that this was constructed in 315AD. Still standing sturdy and beautiful; it is just one of the many must stops when in Rome. There is no entrance fee this making it the perfect stop. There can be quite a crowd but if you time it right; you will be able to get a picture where there's not too many people. I enjoyed a quick stop here and definitely recommend making a stop here! The arch itself is a great example of Roman Imperial art and architecture.

We had a great first stop that ended up being a restaurant (Masto) we were delighted to return to later in the week and the owner happened to be there and we had a wonderful time with her again, and enjoyed the dinner just as we had the tasting. The stops were great, the walking easy, the food good, and Edma was a fountain of local geography and food culture information. My boyfriend and I made quite the trek up from the Trastevere area to get the the Gianicolo Hill. On my travel research I really wanted to come here at Noon since they would shoot a blank cannon daily, a continued tradition since ancient times as a way to signal time. We missed the cannon due to other travel plans, but it was still nice to walk up and appreciate the view of the city. There is a bus stop at the top, but the route had some delays and we waited a bit for it to come. Not a necessary visit, but great if you like nature and a panoramic view.
