Was here in 2024 and bought a "Cryptozoology Tracking Society" T-shirt with various critters drawn like chupacabra, Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot and including a jackalope and the shirt glows in the dark! Great store. It's like a classy Portsmouthy version of Newbury Comics. Great place to stop when you are walking around beautiful Portsmouth. Cashier worked the whole store by herself (I think) with a ton of tourists wandering around the store, but she was super pleasant even after dealing with everyone. The books and gifts here are cutesy and humorous without being cheap or cheesy. Will def be back! read more

I don't write a lot of reviews about stores, but Off Piste made me run to my Yelp app and fire one off. I don't remember the last time I laughed so much while browsing a store. Just the sock section alone would make this store a hit, but then there's the cat section. OMG, this store is too funny. I could have spent three times what I did and still not have bought everything I wanted. Off Piste (adj & adv): "so as to deviate from what is conventional, usual, or expected." Such an appropriate name for this place! I would like to shop here for all of my friend's birthdays. Why? It's charming, offers stuff for all degrees of humor, stuff for all degrees of geekery/nerdom, it's moderately kitschy (but in the best, hippest, most current way possible), there's something for everyone, there are items you didn't know you needed, and there are items you didn't know existed that you'll think of days after you've visited here (and maybe even hop online to seek out and purchase, #notthatIdidthat). Areas of interest for this ol' girl: . The entire alcohol-themed section of goodies . The entire Anthropologie-like section of beach & camping lifestyle goodies . The wood log shaped/colored pillows and everything else labeled "Cabin Porn" . The dedication to promoting and supporting local artists I admit, it's a little on the expensive side, but - I don't know - there really were things in here I had never seen in other similar stores. The staff is worthy of noting because they left me with a negative experience. The two ladies working had attitudes that were simply unnecessary. I left the merchandise I had in hand in the store. Found this shop just by strolling by and what a unique little shop it is! It's fun, quirky, nerdy, and a whole lot more. There are items that have some risqué' wording so if you have small children who can read, I don't recommend you bring them in. This is a must stop of unusual gifts. A really fun store. I've never seen a Kanye West paper doll book, but you can find it here. Such a wide variety of odds and ends, and lots of cool books. It's about ten steps up from your typical "gift shop", but if it could be included in that category it's the best one in Portsmouth. read more
